Don't forget to use the coupon code… 04CD03

    • Do they have a GMT version?

Just looked.. yes they do, seems like a homage to the Tudor GMT

      • +1

I always feel GMT is an unnecessary complication, it requires the user to know the relevant offsets, for example Sydney during daylight saving is +11, Sapporo is +9, Seattle is -7. Simply minus 2 and 18 hours for Sapporo and Seattle time, respectively.

Also GMT watch can't handle 30-minute time zones. So it doesn't work well and it doesn't cover all time zones.

        • Of course it isn't if you have a phone, but for some reason people are drawn to them. I wouldn't pay heaps extra for that. Just get casio world time for cheap.

I bought this a few years ago, it's a bloody good watch.

    • Have you had to change the battery yet?

      • +1

No I haven't, still ticking away nicely

    • +1

lol must be as good as a real Rolex!

      • I have a pretty high end Hulk replica and this just as good to be honest for a lot less

  • Is this alot thinner case thickness wise over the average divers watch? 13.3mm seems thin in contrast to what i've seen with other divers which is quite appealing to me as i'm not a fan of the chunkier watches.

    • +1

It's an quartz so the movement is a lot thinner in comparison to an automatic movement.

    • +1

No it's a similar thickness to other automatic dive watches even though it's quartz, because it's a homage of a Rolex.

      • +1

cheers big ears for the clarification!

13-14mm is a pretty standard size for a generic dive watch - which the Addies is. Plus, it's probably thrown together from catalogue parts; and the selection of parts seem to work for this watch. How thick or thin a watch is, is determined by the type of movement (auto vs quartz), and other variables for autos. For an auto dive watch, the price can go up significantly as it gets thinner. Auto watches in the 12 mm range are pretty desirable for me, personally. Quartz movements are thin, so a quartz watch can technically be thinner. However, as water resistance increases, so does the thickness of the watch case (unless you pay more $$$). This watch is a homage, so likely its measurements are similar to a Sub or the previous gen Sub.

My son has worn one of these Addies for 80% of the time for over a year and it hasn't missed a beat. The lugs are a bit thick, but it feels slim enough.

      • Yes o prefer 10-12.x mm. Anything over 13mm is too much even for a divers, unless they have a great design like the seiko sumo.

        • I have quite a few Seikos, so I accept the thickness on them and the designs hide the width well (not MM300). You pretty much have to go Swiss or a Miyota 9xxx series to have a thin case. That's often the issue with these cheap and cheerful Chinese watches - they're thick to cut costs.

          • @ilikeit: Yeah those 9k series are good, could get down to 10mm maybe.

I don't consider 12mm too thick or noticeable (mecha quartz like the Pagani Dayton), based on the Rolex obviously so same dimensions and approx weight. Anything more than 13mm is a bit much but you get used to it - just wear it fitted not low and loose.

            • @G-rig: I have a Pagani Daytona, but I rarely wear it. Too many more interesting watches in the box I suppose. Or perhaps it's the crappy, light-weight bracelet. I might try it on a sailcloth or gift it.

              • @ilikeit: Yeah I sold mine. Get over the blatant Ali homages/sub knock offs. Got a Seiko speedtimer panda.

            • @G-rig: I have a dive style watch from Henry Archer (Akva) which is 10.5mm thick.
I'm sure they could have gotten it down to 10mm if they dropped the display case back (which I really don't need for a standard Miyota 9 series).

              • @O15: 10.5mm is very thin for a diver, wouldn't be complaining about that!
Also don't care for casebacks if it means increased thickness. Also no point unless there is something special to see as you pointed out!

A lot of these type of watches just use the same generic cases so they wouldn't go to extra effort and cost making them perfect for that price.

      • Thanks for the info! it's really appreciated as a novice in the hobby. Esp the info on auto/quartz movement and size.. I really don't mind the look of the watch. I might give it a try as a first dive watch to see if i like them. Can't really tell until you wear it.

I have to ask - i'm really on the side of thinner dress/casual watches due to my small wrists and personal preference. After purchasing a Seiko cocktail time, i find that with the beveled glass (i believe that is the right term) it's just pushing the size i'm comfortable with. Would you have any suggestions on future purchases for myself in regards to specifications or suggested 'points' to look out for with sizing? Love watch suggestions aswell if you got any :D

Thanks again for the advice and help!

        • I'm sure others can add their commentary as well but I'm sure it would be fine. These submariner homages are a great size and weight and doubt it would be an issue. Pagani do a lot of similar ones (look up the Daytona), and they look like much more expensive watches! Ps. They call it domed crystal but it's pretty flush on these (and sapphire which is what you want, cocktail times mostly hardlex so not as good.

i am feeling the starbucks one not going to lie

        • +1

That would also look good on you.
          Ps. which one is that?

    Thanks, bought the Starbucks

I prefer the Steeldive SD1970 which is US$51.82 + GST but only on rubber at that price.

The white Addiesdive doesn't have a ceramic bezel if that matters to you.

      • Agree, no brainer! Bought that exact one.
They haven't really hit the mark with that texture, looks like cracked/dried up ground more than waves or glacias.

        Pic with that strap:

        • I think of that texture as a salt pan

          • @Astronaut Joe: True but it isn't meant to be that lol. They have just copied the limited edition Willard that has the vertical texture but have made it just different enough not to get sued.

            3D beach texture dial

      • Also saphire vs mineral glass if that matters too lol

        • Watch you talking about, the Steeldive is also sapphire.

  • The Addiesdive Tuna is also decently priced. Does anyone have any experience with this one as referred to in this previous deal?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/815777

    • I don't own one but the reviews on youtube that I've watched are positive.

I think it would look good on you.

  • @WatchNerd Any womens watches you recommend?

  • "For security reasons your request can't currently be processed".
Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this please?

    • Are you using PayPal? Maybe Clear knows.

      • I started with PayPal. Then tried ccard. Same issue every time. Tried to buy something else, same issue. Used my dad's account and it worked fine via PayPal.

So something to do with my account.

Tried different browsers, networks, devices, but same issue. Reached out to customer service who told me to create a new account.

        Bunch of lazy w@*k3rs.

        • Yeah unless you've cleaned out the browser and app you could make a new account and get first discount again. Shouldn't have to though.

Thanks OP. Came out as $42.22 as a new customer

    • No worries, do you like it?

  • +1

    Bought, thanks OP

    • Great, any feedback?

Nicely finished for such an inexpensive watch. I grabbed the starbucks one.
Unfortunately, it went straight into another box…I just received the silicone watch strap I was waiting for, so will change it over this weekend and actually wear it.
