Anybody know if you can price match at Officeworks? It's more convenient for me…..

  • In before someone yet again asks about the quality. Yeah its Big W. Its not the best, but i personally dont have a problem with it. Thanks OP, i will pick some up.

Has anyone tried printing photographs with Adobe1998 colour profile or any profile other than standard sRGB from one of these Fujifilm machines?

Thanks theearth for all your posts.

    • a long, long, time ago, I tried to print at HN (same fuji machines) using the profile of the printer.. it didn't seem as good as just using sRGB.

If you have access to PS/Lightroom etc.. I'd just convert to sRGB. Or, try it first with a 6x4 print.

    • thanks for reminding me to convert them to sRGB before I print them

  • Wow this is so cheap. Thank you! Might print out a few.

  • Great deal. Thanks theearth.

Are these printed in store while-you-wait? If not, is it possible to upload the photos from home and arrange a time to pick them up?

    Thanks.

  • Can your print these from your iPad? Never used one of these machines before.

    Thanks

USB, SD card and CD I believe are the only options

      • I've been able to print from an Android phone (using Bluetooth). Not familiar with ipad, but if can send images by Bluetooth, should be same?

        • I don't think ipad has that sort of Bluetooth functionality.

Well, I'm going to save myself $194.22 and get 13 prints…as for quality - I took some from a point-and-shoot and even one from my mobile phone in and was blown away, I shall keep you guys informed as to how I go with my 24MP DSLR prints…

If anyone was curious, I recommend this frame to go with it:

    http://www.ikea.com/aa/en/catalog/products/60171305/

$20 ain't bad for the quality. Rarely see a comparable size for less than $50

    • I heard they are rubbish from several people. Falling apart and off walls…

      • Perhaps you're thinking of the aluminium frames that were on Ozbargain a month or so ago? These are not them.

I should add however, they will cut about an inch off the left and right sides of the image (not a big deal for most pics, but some of mine I have to get the full picture in, so I might try and make a custom insert for them or something…

As for Big W quality: I am blown away by the B&W Matte prints. Unbelievable and the colour in glossy pops really well (as long as it's correct on the computer! Don't expect them to make the photos look better - do the work yourselves!)

And that would be my recommendation btw guys: if it's B&W (particularly a high contrast B&W) go with matte, if you want the colours to pop, go glossy (but watch those fingerprints!)

  • Thanks OP. ;-)

  • Quality is about as good as it can get here.

BigW use the Fuji Frontier 570 machine which is chemical based printing. Harvey Norman use the same method, but the older Fuji machine where as BigW has the latest.

Officeworks/Kmart are inkjet based machines which are just plain shit quality.

Nice and sweet, but this guys will print for $2 if you buy 20+ and charging $20 postage. https://photoenlargements.com.au/ They use lustre paper and RA4 process (chemical based). Sometimes they will do $1 deal, but is like once a little over a year.

So to even match the price of the deal published here, you have to have a minimum of 20 prints, of unknow quality? No thanks.

      • I seem to recall hearing foot things about them before. Nice to know there is another option to try if you have a need for bulk prints and no time to wait for another special at Big W :)

    • oops

  • Strange that BigW are advertising this as 12" x 18" rather than 12" x 16" as in previous.

I suspect a typo. Beware in cropping/preparing your prints for printing.

Can anyone who has been in yet confirm the size???? [drum-roll for enlargement jokes…!]

    • 12x18 is the size.

      Penis.

    • 18x12 (3:2) harks back to the old 35mm film aspect ratio. These days digital cameras usually produce 4:3. Perhaps 3:2 is closer to 16:9 which is what some digital cameras can be set to.

  • I got some done but now finding it hard to find any frames.
