    • +21

Only till the end of the financial year.

      • So its 12990 d/a then $1000 cashback
So final effective price is 11990?

      • 11990?

    • not gonna lie, i actually opened up this link to see if it exists…. lol

    • +8

      Keep the car bargains coming

      Nice post op

    • +3

      How much is postage ??

      • +7

I'm guessing you've never bought a car before JV. :P

        • +5

          Don't tell him it's Click'n'Collect only! ;)

  • +1

    eww

  • +9

better off with the $14k Fiat 500

    • +2

If you're after an automatic, this is way better.

    • +1

Not really. The Fiat 500 @ 14k is only a 1.2L, 51KW engine. Not much better than this.

      • +1

On paper maybe not, try drive both and tell me that.

    • +4

Why, when this is cheaper and not Italian?

  • +19

Good to see regular Car deals on Ozbargain

  • +20

I won't say yes or no to this being a bargain, but this is one of the ugliest little cars Mitsubishi has ever created.

  • +3

You can also get a Suzuki Alto for $11990 + $500 cashback, looks a bit better but not by much - http://www.suzukiqld.com.au/suzuki-alto

  • +2

This is a great little car to buy the sugar baby / mistress to keep her happy.

    • +6

Assuming your mistress is really, really low budget.

      • +5

Not worth spending too much on them - why would you want to keep one around for that long?

        • +6

why would you spend money on her… if she loves you she pays….right?

        • Wait, are we talking cars or mistresses?

    • +1

you hate your mistress that much?

  • +36

    Thanks. Bought two.

    • +1

      Hey, email me one. ;)

      • +5
        1. Download car from internet
        2. Buy 3d printer.
        3. Print
        4. Drive away.
        • +2

Just tried this but the car came out A4 !!!!!!

        • Try this: http://www.stratasys.com/

It will most definitely cost more than $12990 but at least you'll get free shipping.

        • +3

          Worse, mine came out portrait.

        • Audi won't be happy!

    • One for you and one to put on eBay?

      • Broden.

  • +21

I like these cheap cars. They drive down the price of nice used cars.

    • Not if your the 1 trying to sell your nice used car …

  • +4

Nice car - at least it is not a volkeswagen, you can use it!

    • +1

At least most VW owners know how to check their spelling before an attempted troll….

      • +3

I wasn't interested in getting into legal issues!

      • +5

Someone is a butthurt VW owner…

  • O.o… The older mirages look way better! When did they make it to become so fugly?? But then the older Mirage I bought was more expensive like another 5k+ so I guess this is the price of making it on the cheap..

  • +5

    "It's Like A Golf"

    • +7

But without the sudden loss of power…
      :)

      • Agree

  • -1

    1.2L with 5 speed transmission? I don't think its a good idea.

  • -6

Why are these yumchas getting cheaper and nastier with each new revision or edition?

    • +4

Depends on your definition of yumcha brand. The true yumcha are Great Wall, Geely & Chery.

Chery are under 10K drive away. Not safe enough for us Victorians, but NSW and QLD they are fine.

    • +3

Yeah well said chun!, look how well these yumchas are doing compared to the excellent styled falcon and commodores that are selling like hotcakes…

      I hope your not a ford guy…

FYI I think Japan is more well known for sushi rather than yumcha, weird I know right!

      • +1

FYI I think Japan is more well known for sushi rather than yumcha, weird I know right!

Actually, IIRC these are manufactured in Thailand…so that would be tom yum brand! :p

        • +3

I knew that :), I was more so poking fun at what seemed a classical bogan statement.

        • I was just funnin' with ya! I agree, every time I read that particular bogan turn of phrase (epithet really) it just seems a little more ignorant than the previous iteration.

        • Toy77?

  • Looking for a good deal on SUV. Anyone know any good deals?

    • +2

Great Wall or Volkswagen seem the pick of the bunch…

  • +3

    Okay -
-1 for being one of the fugliest little cars around right now
    -1 for being pink
    -1 for being manual
-1 for listing 'steering wheel controls' TWICE
    +1 for 4 doors + hatch
+2 for various others like bluetooth, ASC and 6 airbags
    +1 if you have a 19yo blonde mistress…
    YMMV

    • 4 negative and 4 positive = positive vote!

      • Lol, was thinking the same thing but whatever floats his/her boat.

        • +2

I don't know any girls called Leonard :(

        • +1

These days you can find anyone using any name.

    • +3

      -1 for being manual?

for an engine that's only 57kW, one would have to be an idiot not to get a manual

by the time you take off at the lights, the person behind you will have to stop at an orange lol

    • -1

      It's not available as a 4 door - only a 5 door.

    • -1 for being pink

"Mulberry" is actually $495 extra :o

The only colour at no extra charge is appliance white.
      How very apt.

    • U gotta be kidding?

Have u watched news lately? VW with dsg's are causing deaths around the world.
And the fiat!!?? Lol aaaa yeh, think everyone knows how reliable Italian cars are.

      Anyone for an Alfa 156?

      • +5

everyone knows how reliable Italian cars are

        I can't say I've ever had a problem with my Maserati Quattroporte…

        • +8

Matchbox are renowned for their reliability jv! ;)

      • Errr the Up! isn't even equipped with a DSG box…

The 500 is actually made in Poland if that makes sense.

  • +1

We got one of these for the receptionist at work to drive. Paid $11,800 drive away including delivery 500km away. This was before the promotion in the OP started, though they no doubt knew it was coming. Receptionist says car is fine, I haven't driven it.

    • +13

We got one of these for the receptionist at work to drive.

You must have a huge reception area !!!

    • +1

Receptionist says car is fine, I haven't driven it.

Is the receptionist fine herself? :P

      • +6

        he is

  • +1

    It says in the features.
    "5 speed manual transmission
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with INVECS III Smart Logic (optional)"

Does anyone know if this CVT is automatic with no clutch ?
I read that CVT is very fuel efficient.

  • +1

Does anyone know if this CVT is automatic with no clutch ?
I read that CVT is very fuel efficient.

Yes fully auto and seemingly well suited to this car. But CVTs make a horrible slurring noise.

    • OK thanks mcmonte.
Unfortunately it looks like this special offer only applies to the manual anyway.

  • +2

This is a way better deal than the Fiat:
    +Reputable japanese manufacturer
    +Cheaper parts
+Manufacturer has greater presence in australia
    +$2,000 cheaper

IMHO this looks way better than the fiat too. If you want to be weird get the fiat, if you want a decent cheap car get this.

    • +2

      and:
      +longer warranty
      +free roadside assistance
      +capped price servicing

      • +3

+JV's approval*, that's pretty hard to get nowadays.

*JV's approval in this context means no neg. Subject to availability, see in store or ask JV for details.

  • +2

Anyone tried price matching with Officeworks?

    • -2

      There's always one…

  • -1

This car is a bargain? You can get a 5-6 year old Honda Accord or Hyundai Sonata for less than this.

    • +2

Out of warranty & expensive parts for both…brilliant, MrZ…

      • -1

You can get a 2008 or 2009 Sonata for about $11,990 - some of them will still be under warranty, as Hyundai's warranty is for 5 years. They are brilliant cars.

        • +1

Yeah, they are good cars, I used to own one. That's how I know that Hyundai parts are prohibitively expensive…between that & current labour costs for repairs, you're likely just buying somebody else's problems.

    • +3

A quick search shows you'd have to go 10+ years on an Accord or one with a pretty high mileage from 7-8 years ago (120,000km and up). Plus they're sedans, not a 4 door hatch. Even the fuel economy isn't vaguely comparable on the lower 2.4L models with 9.3L/100km versus this deal's 4.6L/100km.

      I mean… ?

Maybe you meant to post "I don't like small cars, I prefer sedans."?

      • -1

Search for 2007 Accords - plenty at or under $11,990. Same goes for 2008-2009 Sonatas. You can also get a 3-year-old Holden Epica for about the same price.

        • +2

Pardon moi, I should have said 6-8 years old & high mileage…

  • +1

Well I just went and bought a manual ES for $11,488. Thanks to the OP for posting as I didn't even know the Mirage was back in circulation. :)

For those saying you are better off getting an older car… I don't like someone else's hand-me-downs.
PLUS, it's new, it has a full 5 year warranty and will get me from A to B, just like every other new car. YMMV with a used car. ;)

    • It's a Mirage in name only. The previous Mirage was essentially a 3-door Lancer. This car is a whole size smaller than that.

  • Another thing to note is that the ES model is only available in 4 colours: white, silver, pink, and red. Blue and black are only available on the Sport and LS models. By the way, the US Mirage will have a wider choice of colours including a lime green, and grey, which we miss out on:

The stereo also only has 2 speakers.

    • +1

The stereo also only has 2 speakers.

      I found this statement funny.

(I get what you were saying, but look at it! It's totally funny.)

      • What's funny about it?

        • +1

"in stereo" used to colloquially mean two speakers/channels instead of the previously more common single speaker.
