      That's correct - It would be like "half price" or 50% off, and you only pay for shipping.

        Thanks Jack. I'm currently quite happy with my Umere dailies but I wouldn't mind an upgrade if there is something more comfortable out there. Of course that is very subjective, but are there any general recommendations?

        I might move to monthlies as when I trialled a pair from my local SS (thanks to a very, very good optician) I found they were the most comfortable.

          Here's my 2 cents worth. I believe the difference between Monthlies and Dailies is a)cost and b)convenience. You will save more with Monthlies, but the time required to ensure the contact lenses are kept in tip top shape with solution/daily sanitation of said lenses; Some people's view is that the cost savings are not worth the trade off for the daily care of the lenses. So it's down to personal preference and definitely down to comfort. I'd speak with your local Specsavers optometrist - seems the best source of advice, noting your preference above for convenience/price trade off.

          Thanks for the comments. I think given how time poor I am and how precious eyes are, dailies will suit me as I don't want the concern of keeping them perfectly clean. I only use dailies about once a week so the cost benefit isn't there either.

          I bought 4 packs of Umere dailies in 2011 and still have unopened boxes, but I might buy 4 and stock up on this great deal.

          Thanks for pointing me to that thread - hugely useful. I've trialled silicone hydragels (amongst a few others) and although optomotrist was hopeful they would be comfortable, the monthlies (name I can't recall) and Umere dailies are the best I found. Maybe I'll stick with them and use them with drops as I do now.

    Hmmm, kind of annoying that it's only for one box, my prescription is different for both eyes. So buy one box, get one free, plus expensive shipping.

    FYI - if not for this deal, OPSM is actually cheaper once you include postage.

    EDIT: cheaper for my lenses, I haven't checked others.

      A better business plan would be to offer two options for customers:
      1) $31 box of contacts plus $10 shipping
      2) $41 box of contacts with free shipping

      This way you have best of both worlds and increase number of customers.
      The logic behind this is because health funds do not pay shipping when doing refunds.
      But if the cost of shipping was included as part of the line item, then shipping becomes free and most people would get 100% back from their funds.

      You would win so many more customers such as myself by doing offering this method.
      I did not take this offer and will continue to purchase from another supplier who is able to offer me option 2.

      Hi Gerbud - I know - unfortunately not. I have heard some hear'say that you want to be careful with coloured contacts. You don't want to skimp on quality - so I would go to a reputable source and not a counter in the middle of your local Westfield or shopping centre… just some advice.

However - big disclaimer here - you'll need to contact AHM first before ordering to ensure they cover contact lenses and find out the manner they cover contact lenses - they may have a sublimit (meaning a max amount) on the claimable amount for contact lenses.     I recently started buying from Specsavers online… Prices are better than OPSM but be warned, don't leave your orders till the last minute… Their shipping is very slow.

    Tried ordering 4 dailies for my right and 4 for my left (astigmatism).

    Gave me cheaper one free, yet when I remove the right eye - I get the stigamtism free.

    Looks like it works better to order separately

    For those new to contact lenses, you need to be careful.

    You can easily injure your eye if you are not shown how to insert them properly. I tried them once & it was infuriating - maybe it was just me, but i think i ended up scratching my eye.

    Also, at least in my case, i wanted them for reading, but it was a no go because you will not get the clarity of glasses (the crap between your eyeball & the contact lens warps things up a bit). Optometrist didn't explain this to me otherwise i wouldn't have bothered.

    The rep can clarify if i'm off-ball.

      Not true . They are as clear as glasses and if you look after your lenses and eyes properly, you wont have a problem.

        If you're already using Contacts & it's working for you - great.

        I'm told some people have trouble converging their eyes with contacts but it is easier with glasses. Varies from person to person. More information about it at your optometrist.

    Free box of astigmatism lenses is a great deal, purchased with a box of regular lenses for my other eye, still a decent deal. However to purchase from you guys again, without the free box deal, you'd need to price match quicklens.. $25.50 vs $31 for Acuvue Oasys, and $41 vs $49 for Oasys Astigmatism, so over a few boxes that would add up. I don't care about after sales care i'm afraid, never need it.

      IIRC they had a sale on not long ago where Acuvue Oasys was about $24.99 a box - it's one of those things where you'd have to watch their website closely to see what deals they have on.

    I'm an 8.4 and -3.00 and -2.25 in the Acuvue Oaysis. The 1 Day Acuvue Moist seem to have different sizing, any idea what I need? These might be handy for camping or nights out when I'm too drunk to carefully take out my lenses and put them back in their case.

      Hi frostee - huge WARNING. Please speak with your local Specsavers optometrist for some clinical advice. I would be weary of receiving advice online for this type of matter. You only get the two eyes, ever. The matter could be sorted within a short visit to the store to explain you like the convenience of dailies as a throw away lens. The store will be able to do a FREE Trial on the lens that they believe will suit you. I know you'd rather a quick answer - but hope this helps.

    What a great deal. I can't believe I've been buying from OPSM. The exact prescription lense cost me $126 for 3 months at OPSM.
    At specsavers it's $62 + $10 Shipping (and I get $31 off now!). WOW! $41. Now if only officeworks sold contact lenses :D

    Can you please confirm whether these are grey imports?

    I've been told that Specsavers bypass Australian law by importing lenses per patient instead of in large supply.

      I was told by the opticians at Specsavers in store that those that you order online from specsavers come from the UK. If you buy in store, they are from the local supplier.

      That's why the ones in store are more expensive by at least $10 per box and those online are cheaper. But they do take 7-10 days to arrive. However, I am not totally sure if the online orders do come from the UK. As the box that it arrives in has an AUSPOST stamp from Port Melbourne.
