FREE Instant Access to 2000+ Newspaper from around The World (Including Australia)

2750

Just stumbled on this website via my local library. All you need is a library card number, and you can read … as the title suggest… 2000+ newspaper from around the world for FREE!

I’ve tested it, I could read the full New York Post, SCMP (Hong Kong), Irish Times, Wall Street Journal, not to mentioned (almost) all the Australian newspaper. The only exception was the Age, I think it’s because it’s a Melbourne paper and I’m in Melbourne. (But I can read the full Melbourne Herald Sun … bloody Fairfax!)

It’s just a read-only website, you can’t search or download articles.

And yes, I know if I spend a little time googling, I can also have access to of all the news articles for free, but having all the newspaper on one website is a lot easier.

Anyway… happy reading

could not get in as Australia, used Hola and changed to US and on I go thanks OP

    • Thanks! This worked for me.

  • I sent my details to register for the trial and they told me they would get back to me in two business days. Seems fishy. No one else had to do this? I was going to neg because it is just for a trial, and even then they have to approve you before you can register an account.

I will neg the deal if they don't get back to me in the two days, I wonder why no one has commented on this? Of course I have checked the email I provided, but there was no automatic verification sent out though I was redirected to a page stating that I will be contacted in the next two business days.

as per op, this deal is for access via a library card barcode, not the free trial

      • When you click the link and go to sign up you can sign up with a library code or with a username and password. Both required filling out all the fields. For someone who went through the process there was no hint that you could just enter in the random number on the landing page then could go straight click-through enter and browse. It is an odd gateway for a site. I was only after the sun herald as I get everything else I'm interested in. Disappointed, but will still positive thumbs up the deal. Not crossing my fingers it will last much longer…

        • Forget the username and password fields, just type an 8 digit no into the library code field eg. 98765432. If you have issues with it not working first time just keep entering it, sometimes it doesnt work first time for some reason. And voila access to heaps of newspapers sun herald being one of them. Enjoy :)

did you read what you wrote?

  • Not sure if ill read it but pretty amazing none the less

  • Only just accessed it then…… Absolutely sensational post!!!

  • We do get shafted in Australia.
From one of the US papers

NEW 2013 Chevy (Holden) Cruze $8477
    NEW 2013 Chevy Camaro $14,500
    http://imageshack.us/f/513/6dsd.jpg/

A second hand 2012 Camaro here is around $100,000.

    • I am of the same opinion as you about the cost of a lot of products imported to Aus as being ridiculous, especially motor vehicles, except where they have to be converted to RHD. Some cars are a fairly simple conversion, but after reading how much goes into getting a new Camaro to comply for ADRs, it ‘almost’ looks justifiable!

Unfortunately we simply don’t have the population or the consumption to bring the overall price down on a lot of these imported products. For example, the education products my wife imports generally work out to cost just as much again for the shipping and duties than what the actual product originally cost! Therefore almost doubling the price here, (dependent on the margin she makes)!

Ps. That Camaro is not actually a simple USD $14,556 driveaway!!!

      • You are right, I wonder why they make it appear that it is?
Looking at this site it seems the average price is $34,866k

Then explain to me how we get various Dodge and Chrysler vehicles over here for around the same price as a Falcon or Commodore?

        • Then explain to me how we get various Dodge and Chrysler vehicles over here for around the same price as a Falcon or Commodore?

Ok, Comparable to Commodore, the base model Chrysler 300C costs $30k in the States. In Australia this same car sells on special for 43k! Hence my example of shipping a product to Australia!
The new VF Commo Evoke retails for 38k on road without trying to do any deals here. Now I agree the cost of the Commo is dear in Aus compared to a similar car (300C) in the States, BUT… are you willing to take a pay cut for a starter? Our minimum wage for a factory worker is lot higher than it is in the States. The cost of raw materials is higher than it is in the States. (This relates purely to consumption!) These factors, and others, are what give us an overall higher manufaturing cost! (The reason why we are building offshore!) And then to top it all off, on average, our taxes are a lot higher on vehicle purchases than they are in the States!

But back to my original point, the 300C costs 13k more over here!!!

  • Anyway… This is all completely off topic!!!
The fact is, this was an awesome find that I now use daily. Thanks OP!!!

  • And none of that explains why the Camaro, which is also about the same price as a Commodore, is close on $100,000 here.

    • Some cars are a fairly simple conversion, but after reading how much goes into getting a new Camaro to comply for ADRs, it ‘almost’ looks justifiable!

Please note the ' ' around the word almost! I was being a little sarcastic there!
I agree, the Camaro is way overpriced here… But try finding someone to do the conversion cheaper, to comply properly with ADRs, and guarantee their work?
Ps. I drove one in the States for a week. It's just a 2 door Commodore!

  • "Ps. I drove one in the States for a week. It's just a 2 door Commodore!"
Which they could buy from us (monaro/pontiac GTO) for about the same price as here.

  • Thanks Op its a gold tip!

  • All the sudden I've started having issues accessing this site from the iPad. It wants me to input a registered account (email & password)! I managed to jump on the computer and find the original link whereby I was able to enter my library card number! And after a little playing around with the address I got it working!
