It's that time of the year again ! Looks like they've introduced a new 'premium' package too which has these additional features,

  • Additional NBA content* such as documentaries, studio shows and original programming
  • NBA TV Live subscription*, which brings top highlights and exclusive access to NBA events and press conference
  • Home and away announcers* available

Might be handy to wait for someone to try via another country (Hungary, Spain, Canada ?) to get the price down further.

HOW TO SIGN UP WIKI

1) Find country with cheapest plans. Right now (9:27 AEST) it seems to be India with premium being US $139.99 and normal being $99.99. Thank you jayc

2) Go to www.hidemyass.com/proxy-list/ and search for the country that has the cheapest. Here are the proxies for India, which is the cheapest right now. In your browser, change to a proxy with HTTPS, good connection time and speed preferably. Thank you stinx2001

3) Once you have finished sign up, remove the proxy address and go back to your normal address.

    Guys just a quick update :) If you have bought Regular league pass and wish to upgrade to premium, you might have to go through the proxy again (verified).

    I'm not able to find upgrade option when logged back in my oz account.

      it does, but you dont get to choose who - its usually the home team commentator if its not shown nationally on US television. (if it is you get TNT/ABC/ESPN commentators)

    All packages include commentators…. My understanding is that in premium you can choose Home and away game announcers.

    I used my already registered credit card to game-time for last year, just make sure it is Https

    You can use any address, I have my Australian address and you can also change it later :)

    I reckon the ACCC should take action against the NBA. Why should Australia have to pay more then double what other countries do?

    Ill stick with watching it free online. I would pay, if it was a fair price.

      Other countries have blackouts, we have none. Also you can get it for ~US$100 via proxies, is really worth trying to watch a low quality stream with ads popping up all over the place?

          nah it will be cool. i bought with spain proxy last season. only used the proxy to buy it, then worked fine on my iphone and apple tv and pc with no proxy

        remember to do this in proxy and secure otherwise you'll get slapped with aus bill @checkout

          I paid for it with Paypal.. and after I logged in that was the exact time they wanted me to verify my account and change my password and secret question.. then once I'd done that, just took me the the regular PayPal account page. Now, to start all over again..

          And done it twice now and it keeps giving me the "Unfortunately, we're unable to process your payment using your PayPal account at this time. Please return to the merchant's website and try using a different payment method (if available)."

          So don't want to trust my CC details through a proxy.

          Try… sign up to nba.com without the proxy. Add your credit card to the account. Then switch over to the proxy and log in. Your cc with be prefilled with xxxx so I think they should not be passing your account number through the proxy session as it is already stored on their server.

    If anyone is having trouble with proxies from India - I just tried a Thailand proxy and was able to get the Premium package for the same price (~$118USD after code applied).

    WARNING: I went to register my credit card details before using proxy. Only way I found out how to create an account do this was to go through purchasing a subscription and stopping at order confirmation page. EXCEPT after registering credit card details there was no order confirmation page so I got billed full amount!!!
    Not sure how to back out at this point.

    I've tried running the proxy (HTTPS) via india & brazil. I get to the part where it shows me the amount ($139.99). Once i've clicked on the package, the price reverts back to the $270. I read previously i need to make sure that it's the HTTPS proxy.

    I am getting the IP for the HTTPS according ot the free proxy site, but it still shows the full amount.

    Is there a setting in chrome that is supposed to have the proxy changed for HTTPS and not HTTP? Because there's only a box for HTTP and not HTTPS.

    not sure how to get around the pricing at the CART section..

    I had to try a few different IP's because "proxy wasn't found" or too slow. Found one from Thailand that worked eventually so be patient. I checked credit card and was charged AUD$128.28. Nice. Thanks!

      No its metered, make sure you have a sufficient data plan if you intend on watching high quality streams. A game usually ends up being 1-2gb at the highest quality.

    What I find amusing is they had this big survey at the end of last season asking would I renew if it was more expensive or the same. I expect most people would have said no, they want it lower, but the price has gone up so perhaps people said yes ;)

    I paid less for the NFL premium package and it's got way better content, 4500kbps, NFL Network kills NBATV for production quality, heaps of NFL archived shows, and Redzone (though less total games I admit). Yet both are Neulion, wtf is with that?

    Well I bit seeing the $AU was doing ok.

    Be aware with Neulion products paid by Paypal that they are actually setting up a subscription and could auto renew you next year (you actually do give auth for this on the subscribe screen). They do warn you about this, you get a week or something like that to cancel it. You can see it's a subscription if you look in Paypal -> Profile -> My Money -> pre-payments (or something like that), you will see NBA is an active payment meaning it is pre-approved for future payments.
