After all the graphics card sales and now these game sales surely I'm not the only one in for a big Christmas of gaming.

Edit: Skyrim Legendary Edition for $16.99 looks good.

    • The Legendary not only looks good. Its actually cheaper than the US.

      • Is the ledgendary worth it? Do we actually need the DLC? Or is it just a few extra weapons/missions etc.

        • I hear a lot of the mods need the DLC to work properly, so it's better to have them.

  • +7

All hail Gaben for he brings the Glorious PC master race salvation and spring sales savings.

  • +5

Did you people wake up early, or have you spend all night awake? Hardcore gamers are a race apart.

    Anyway,
Dampf is having 8 hour Flash sales like it did after Christmas (or was it mid-year)?
    Space Hulk for $10 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/242570/?snr=1_4_4__625

    1 Day Sales:
    Walking Dead $6 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/207610/?snr=1_4_4__617
    Sleeping Dogs $5 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/202170/
    (add $10 for all DLCs)
    (Far)Crysis 2 max Edition $7.50 - http://store.steampowered.com/app/108800/?snr=1_4_4__625
Crysis is $4 (same link) but I found the game a little disappointing compared to, say, Far Cry.

  • Spend all night awake here. Hehe I'm planning to substitute these wasted gaming hours to do stock trading US market while you enjoy your beauty sleep.

    • +45

Woke up at 5 to get ready to work. Saw this sale. Now I'm late to work.

      I regret nothing.

    • Which stockbroker do you trade with?

  • +1

Damnit I already have about 20 games on steam, and another 6 games on the ps3 that I have yet to play. The walking dead looks good, but do I really need another game to add to that list of unplayed games?! :S

    • +2

no, but don't let that stop you ;)

    • +19

      ha! only 20??

      • +13

exactly…. he is what we call in the industry a 'n00b'. I have not played ~500 of my 700+ games :)

        • +1

Neo, I find it disturbing that you are proud of yourself :P

        • Damn Neo you shame me… i only have about 30 or so unplay/unfinished titles T_T

        • +1

It is essentially a waste of money if you never have time to play them. Although I have the same problem with my 100+ unplayed games on steam.

        • +13

Waste? You must be new here…

        • @ragarma, Not if most of them are supporting development studios you want to see more from, or charity (from humblebundle deals).

        • Can you also give some "charity" money to me too? :P

        • +1

Sure, but i want a game out of it damit!! =P

        • +1

          1.4k games chiming in :(
94% unplayed and not very proud about it

        • +1

You get the game called "Help make edfoo rich" :P

        • Not a doctor but i think you have an addiction.

          High five!

    • Sounds like you need to buy more to get Steam achievements and gain Steam levels.

  • Is Walking Dead a "point and click" type game to move around?

    • +1

Nope, in the parts where u have free movement it is wasd controlled.

W or up arrow key- move forward
A or left arrow key- move left
S or down arrow key- move back
D or right arrow key- move right
      Q - wrestle(tap rapidly)
      E - shove
      1-4 - dialogue
mouse wheel - scroll for dialogue
      left click for choices
right click was only used once, to back out of handling an object

    • Point and click and a little bit of moving around that can be done with mouse or keyboard.

      • So is it a good game?

        • +2

It's good, but it's down to your tastes really…
          Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zy_Dve2NHCY
Watch the first 5 minutes and see if it is your kind of thing.
I liked it, i know people who loved it, and i know people that hate it.
          YMMV

It did win quite a few awards, so there is that ;D

        • -1

i found it slow going. there is no real action. just move about, click on shit like some detective game. 4 possible answers to dialogs define how characters treat you with suspicion etc.

        • really good!

  • the menu at the bottom of the page 0_0 MY EYES!!!!

    • +2

Click Featured Items (blue button) at the bottom and see what happens.

      • once its all upsidey down, try the wishlist and so on….
it gets pretty crazy, more so before 1st coffee hehe.

  • Now to wait for the Pay Day 2 to go on sale and the Group buy thing can begin…

Also, need to get my hands on a 1440 monitor… anyone know when Dell is doing their xmas sales ;)

    • FYI: Payday 2 will be $10 on Amazon on the 29th US time for the Black Friday Sale and $30 for the 4 pack.

      • That sounds like a good deal…ProjectZero, you still okay to get it together with us?

  • +3

Do you all think it's worth getting a steam wallet card from EB games to save on conversion costs and CC costs?

    • Abso-frickin-lutely :)

    • Not as good value as it was before, but depending on your CC company and exchange rate it is worth it…

  • PHEW! I either have everything here or don't want anything.

  • Just one game i'm craving for this year's sale - Civilization V: Brave New World.

With this i know i'll be good waiting until RoS comes out.

  • +6

Personally preferred 'State of Decay' to the "walking dead' for a zombie apocalypse experience. Walking dead game is more like a storybook adventure where you get to make choices at key decision points and then the story unfolds. State of Decay is a 3rd person apocalypse adventure, think GTA meets the Walking Dead. You have to find other survivors and build your own outpost, you collect supplies from abandoned buildings etc and occasionally you have fights with other groups of survivors, all the while avoiding zombie hordes…awesome!

Love ploughing through zombie hordes in a pickup truck!!

    • Is there multiplayer for that? If so we can add this to the Ozbargain steam group lol

  • +9

guess i won't be getting that summer tan

    • +4

You can still get your tan… from your monitor's radiation.

      • +2

        Still using CRT?

        • +8

          Of course, I'm an OzBargainer.

        • +2

          Haha omg no input lag!!!!

        • +1

Plus not stuck with a single native res, and the colours are noticeably better than anything but the best quality IPS panels (it's a fancy one meant for photographic work or something - probably around $2000 when it was new - I got it as a refurb for $80 many years ago).

I'll probably keep this 20kg beast until it dies, if my wife lets me…

        • That right there my friends, is a true ozbargainer… keeping good sheets til they die.

Anyway, i didn't know you can choose native res on CRTs… dang

  • Cheers! Bought Skyrim.

  • Has anyone checked out Call of Duty: Ghosts - Digital Hardened Pack Upgrade at http://store.steampowered.com/sub/34049/. You get the digital hardened edition of the game plus season pass for only U$44.96. Is it really a bargain or am I missing something?

    • +1

it's not clear, but is that just an upgrade, not the actual game?

      • +1

Just an upgrade. New CoD titles are always price gouged on Steam.

  • +5

Steam - please stop having sales so I can stop buying games! LOL

  • 50% off all OG Rocksmith DLC (and game, too). ANyone else who jumped in on Rocksmith at the 2014 stage (like me), now is a pretty decent time to flesh out the track list.

/off to buy some Nickelback tracks…

And to anyone wondering, The Walking Dead is an cracking great game. A really wonderful story that can be enjoyed by anyone (you don't have to know or care about the comics or TV show). It's not really about zombies, either, in as much as it tells a rather compelling story about the survivors in a zombie-filled world.

    • I can't see it at 50% off ?

  • +1

LOL no more trading cards and all that other malarky from the Winter sale…

  • +9

ok.. so far no one has mentioned the essential rules for Steam Sales:

    1. BUY only if the game is currently in a flash or daily sale
    2. if the games you want haven't been on flash or daily sale (ie: the highest discount) by the last day - THEN buy the other games you want.

no point buying GAMEX for 50% discount if it's in a flash sale for 75% discount a day or two later.

    • +3

I've got such a backlog of games that I generally don't even bother to look at titles that are over $9.99 - even the big blockbusters like Skyrim, etc. because they'll eventually drop to that price. When A-list titles get down to around $4.99 that's the sweet spot for me.

  • +3

I use http://steamdb.info/sales/ and sort by price and discount to see what is happening. in most cases 66% or above is an easy buy, if it goes for a few % more later in the sale, not a huge loss.

  • Can you still buy $USD steam cards from EBgames(?) and are they still selling them at parity?

    • Yeah, but they charge and extra 10% I'm fairly sure.

    • Yeah last time I checked it was $23 for $20USD and $55 for $50USD which is around the current exchange rate (for $50 cards at least and no conversion charges from CC company)

  • +2

Natural Selection 2 is not listed but is for sale, 75% off, only 6.24

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/4920/

One of the best games I've played while ac4 and gta5 is gathering dust on my xbox

    slight learning curve

  • +2

Flash sales have changed to Super Meat Boy, Gone Home, Prototype 2 and RPG Maker VX Ace. Already have Super Meat Boy, otherwise I would probably grab it here.

    • Thanks. Picked up Gone Home for $5 due to this post.

  • -1
  • +2

Gone Home $5 is a great purchase
    http://store.steampowered.com/app/232430/

  • +1

C'mon Magrunner and Stacking for a flash or daily deal :)

  • Lol @ steam sales, some prices are insanely high, some are good but on the average games :(

    • Agreed, so far a little disappointed. I expected to go broke fast, but so far I've only bought 1 game (Port Royale 2) for $1.25.

    • +1

Insanely high? What the hell are you talking about?

      • Versus other stores? Yeah. Sometimes steam is a complete rip-off.

  • Evoland is one of the new flash sales. Roughly 3 hours left at time of this post.

IMHO, it's quite short, replay value is almost zero, definitely not worth buying at full price but it's so damn nostalgic.

  • Final Fantasy VII $4 in today's sales - everyone should own it at this price, even if the port isn't the best it could be.

    • Mumble… mumble.. HD remake.. mumble.. sometime soon.. mumble..

    • Nah, it was cr-p even 15 years ago. Move on and get yourself a Tales game.

  • So whats the go with using a US VPN to buy the sales from GameFly Digital, heard some people were caught…not recommended to use?

Also are there any security risks (on your home PC) when using a free VPN like that?

  • The annoying thing is on the Steam USA store Xcom is $9.99USD whereas the Australian store it lists for $17.49.

    • GamersGate have it for $10

  • +3

My brother's game, Assault Android Cactus (twin-stick shooter) is part of this sale btw. It's still in early access but is $11.24USD (25% off).
Honestly not sure if I need to tick that I'm associated with steam or not tbh, can a mod please advise? I don't make any money from purchases but my family and valve would of course.
PS: Their last game was the free Antibody/Antibody boost that seemed to go down well here :)

  • +1

I actually lasted through the whole sale without wanted to buy anything from steam… phew…

    • +2

You still have another day to go… quick go hide your wallet
