OzBargain Zeitgeist 2013

Notable stats:

  • Chrome increasing 8% to 41% and Firefox going down 6% to 18% of browser share.
  • In only 6 months, Udemy has 82 front page deals.
  • Popular deals from Australian retailers have fallen to 74.5% from 78.1% last year.
  • jv had the 5th most positively voted comment AND also the 6th most negatively voted comment.

My predictions from last year:

Amazon seems unstoppable and they are only just going to increase their inventory that they send to Australia.

Half right. Amazon.com retained their spot however Amazon.co.uk lost 6 spots probably due to the bad exchange rate and higher shipping costs.

Do you reckon iTunes's deals will top the chart this time next year? I think it will be up there in the charts but won't take the top spot.

Wrong!

I can't see Meritline retain its spot as surely everyone has enough tweezers and usb cables.

Right! Fell 13 places to 27th place in regards to # of front page deals.

I can see Flingshot just making the cut.

Wrong! They fell 6 spots from 34th to 40th place this year.

1.5 out of 4. Glad I don't gamble.

My predictions? Amazon to retain their place or move down 1 or 2 spots. Kindle books to probably move up in the list. Udemy to go to the top 5. Amazon.co.uk to drop off the top 20.
