    info on the Club Plus card;
    http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/clubplus
costs $5 but you get $10 credit.
    (expiries in 2 months)

    • Is it a once off cost or annual fee?

    • Wait have they always done the $10 gift card? Cause When I went to Supercheap a few times and the only time I was asked if I wanted to join they didn't sell it to me properly so I didn't get it. If I had of know that I would of picked it up.

      • yes, since they launched it in october 2012. in fact, it was free to join for the first couple of weeks if you were an existing email subscriber.

  • If it's for members only, you should say so in the title.

    • +1

      What do you mean?

      • Lesson learnt: Don't rush posting anything a minute before going to lunch :)

When I checked it at the time the deal was just posted, the site was extremely slow and said they were experiencing higher than normal traffic. I imagined that was due to all of us wanting to find out more and accessing the website. That is what I meant.

  • If I sign up today for club plus, is there a way I can use it in a physical store on Saturday. Obviously the card won't come until next week….

    • +1
      • Cheers :D

    • Yep you can sign up then and there in store, and your discount will apply.

    • +1

I signed up online and it says:

"Asking our team members in-store to search for your membership until your card arrives. You simply need to give them the below details so they can find your account:"
      Name
      Email

      Done and done easy as!

      • yep, that's how they've applied my membership details to the purchase when i've forgotten my club plus card :p

      • Do you get the $10 applied to it, or only when the card comes?

        • you get the $10 when you validate your email

  • sweet. just bought some gaffa tape on tuesday….now to wait for my club plus credits to roll in hehehe

  • if i bought something at full price within the last two weeks will i still get the credit of the difference or not seeing as its not actually on special and its just a storewide discount (does everyones from the last two weeks get 20% credit back now?)

    • you do. 20% off is a price drop.

just before christmas, i bought a spanner. the next week they had 3-4 days of 20% off so i got credit back. then after the 20% off days, the spanner got reduced even more to 35% so i got credits back again.

      • So does that mean we can buy what we want today, then use tomorrow's sale price to get credit back? Or does this offer not qualify as "comes on sale in the two weeks following the purchase"?

          Club Price Promise
If a Customer makes a purchase on full priced item, and that item comes on sale in the two weeks following the purchase, they will receive the difference between the price paid and the sale price as a credit on their Club Membership

          pretty simple yeah?

      • yes but was it 20% off the spanner specifically or was it 20% storewide?

        • +1

          storewide

either way it doesn't matter, because it's still a price drop which you will get credits for

        • OK, thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure if this offer - applying only to club members - qualified as "comes on sale". Since your previous credit back claim was also against a club-members-only offer, obviously it does. Thanks again!

        • +1

whether the sale is for club members only or to the general public, as a club member, you will get the credits.

    • You only get a credit back if you bought the original product and you scanned your Club+ card when purchasing. If the price is reduced in the next 2 weeks you get a Club+ credit on the card.

So if you bought something last week and today you purchase a card… that last weeks purchase is not getting any credit back.

Note: the credits do expire so you have you use them or loose them.

  • Nice. New toolbox here I come.

  • Car battery - anyone know if its included / excluded?

    • in the email i received, it says:

Excludes gift cards, non-stock products ordered in-store or through parts guide, race vouchers and navigation.

best to call up your store to confirm

    • Got a battery for my motorbike last time they had 20% off. 20% discount was applied to the battery.

    suggestion for all -

if wanting a particular item call your local store, see what amounts they have on the shelf
if they have not got the item, which stores have & quantity
they can do a computer check on the spot

call the store & ask, even as its a Friday - they will let you know if your item you want is 20%

worth becoming a member - it's the best

Just saw an ad on telly and didn't mention anything about the sale just being for members :)

  • Just picked up a 5lt Penrite oil plus an oil filter. Total $56. Had i waited tomorrow I would have paid 44.80.
Second time they've done this to me when the slashed Magnatec from $40 to $20 overnight. No Im not a premium member but Im going there tomorrow morning, demanding a 20% store credit for my purchases otherwise I'll refund the lot.

might even sign up for piece of mind.

    • you can easily get a refund with receipt.

      • i haven't had a good experience returning something to SCA, which was the only time i've had to. i had the receipt and everything was unopened but the woman who clearly had a bad day, sighed loudly with exasperation and rolled her eyes at me.

i told her i wasn't exactly full of joy returning stuff either and after a bit of talking she finally stopped PMS-ing and actually became friendly lol.

        • +1

Exactly the same attitude I've experienced today returning stuff and on another occasion. Cahn behind the counter was being a prick and outright rude, felt like reaching over and slapping him like a bitch. In the end, I didnt bother with the refund. Just walked out.

The Staff need a lesson or two in customer service. I suppose you can't possibly take an ex- grease monkey , stick it in a company polo shirt and expect them to know how to sell or interact with customers.

I suppose the Cheap in SCA is there for a reason. They should be called SCS - super cheap service. In future im going to Repco for a price match which they normally do anyway. Stuff handing my money over to these amateurs.

        • i doubt many of them are even ex-mechanics…way too young.

i haven't had a better experience with Repco either. was looking for some e-torx sockets and the young woman there didn't know what i was talking about. turns out they didn't sell them anyway (which sca did). what a joke.

    • even if you don't have club plus membership, their 20% off everything sales have a rather predictable pattern. i always wait for their sales unless i need it urgently.

not sure how much luck you're going to have asking for store credit on a past purchase..

  • 20% on the Supercheap website - no membership required

  • just went in to buy some globes. Got 20% off. Asked if i could join membership for the additional credit. Two employees said it can't be done. So no further discount. Hmmm, may have to email head office to clarify

    • did you pay for the globes first then asked to buy membership?

it doesn't work that way; see what ChrisLevo posted below

      • no I asked to join first to both employee, was told the credit wouldn't be valid/active and hence bought the globes.

        • they're partially correct…your $10 credit won't be available to use until you validate the email that you used to sign up.

  • +3

    Thanks, OP!
    Paid $5,
    Got the card,
    Opened my email,
    Activated the card,
    Grabbed what I wanted,
    Got 20% off,
    Got $10 off, and
    Walked out happy :-)

    • Exactly the same sequence of events just happened to me…creepy >_>

  • The sale is just another supercheap scam.

I went to purchase the sand blasting cabinet two weeks ago. The normal price was 160.

Today they have a 20% off sale and miraculously the same stock item is now $209.

I refuse to support businesses that do this to people.

    • That breaks so many Australian Consumer laws, price jacking, that it could get smacked by the ACCC and face thousands of dollars in potential fines.
Next time take a pic of the price tag before and after and report the pricks.

  • Signed up also for the Club Plus card but the $10 doesn't seem to appear. Anybody else have the same issue?
*Nevermind - all fixed now. Just had to clear the cache and log back in.

  • Thanks, stopped up on some meguiars stuff!

  • I feel so sad — I just bought $100+ worth of Meguiars at full price on Wednesday!
