Upgrading Toyota Corolla Audio

I've got a 2004 Toyota Corolla Ascent Sport and would love to get something better sounding in it.

  • New speakers, amp and a sub
  • Decent sound quality
  • I'm mounting a Nexus 7 in my dash so I'd need it to take a 3.5mm or RCA input (on the amp)
  • Under $600?
  • I'm very comfortable installing it all myself

Not too sure on the prices of car audio which is why there was a question mark on the price point.
I'm pretty sure I'd need to get new speakers if I got a sub right?

  • Looking at getting these in terms of speakers, Sony XS-GT1638F

  • Are you sure you are comfortable installing it yourself when you don't even know what you're getting?

I think 600 bucks is a little low for what you're looking for (amp, sub etc). Remember the stock audio cables running through the car won't be that great - you may have to upgrade them.

    • I'm pretty comfortable installing it, cables and all. I've done audio setups before, just not in a car.
I'll go down to JB and see what they offer anyway.
