Purchase 2x Paddle Pops = Free Kids DVD - BP Service Stations

40

Purchase 2x Paddle Pops from a BP service station, and you can get a free kids DVD. The DVD is 90 minutes long, features the Paddle Pop Lion, and apparently has no advertising relating to ice cream in it.

"Apparently has no advertising relating to ice cream in it"

Except the whole thing being an advert for Paddle Pop?

Well the Lion is a mascot for ice cream, it however does not directly tell children to go out and purchase Paddle Pops. It is basically indirect advertising.

My household does not have any dairy products (for our own reasons - don't get distracted), but my 6 year old has watched this "Free" movie at another house and now every time we go past a freezer in a store I hear "I LOVE PADDLE POP!" - Seems pretty direct to me.

How can this be ANYTHING other than Paddle Pop marketing. It's like that stupid Ronald clown chasing the hamburgler - I'm sure no child has been influenced by that…

Shame on Unilever and BP for bypassing the laws.

lol "shame". Can't parents say "no" to their children anymore?

        • I sure do say "no". The point you are missing is it that clearly this 'marketing effort' is a marketing effort. My comment was in support of Mark-F's and MustResistPurchase's comments.

        • Pretty much every freebie on this site is a "marketing effort", I think you are the one missing the point

        • surely you say "No…Fool"

      • No, not indirect advertising, subliminal advertising.

Streets have a free mini cricket set with the purchase of an ice cream (atleast at my milkbar) that's marketing too, but shame on them for trying to get kids playing cricket!

is it shaped like a giant paddle pop stick?

I would love a cricket bat shaped like one!!

lol I'm off to try to find one now, Shame on you!

  • for some reason the paddlepop lion reminds me of HR Pufnstuf, always has, if any of you remember that show.

    • He's the one when things get tough
