Boost is part of the Telstra network ?

just a quickie cant seem to find the answer to this , can I put a Telstra sim in a boost locked phone?

    If the phone is from the old boost network (used optus), NO
    If it was bought recently, I think so. Boost now uses the telstra nextG network, so if you get a telstra phone, you can use it on boost

      I agree that this is probably the case, but it'd be interesting to see what they'd do if you complained that your old Optus-Boost phone didn't work with a new Boost SIM card.. Play dumb, and argue that it's "locked to Boost" and you want a new phone at a discount or for free.
      Even if it did work, it's unlikely to be able to connect to the 850MHz Telstra 3G network.

  • I have put an Aldi sim in a Telstra locked phone before worked fine!

  • I think Telstra would still have to allow it to work, or make it work, they bought the "Boost" Australia business, so it wouldn't look great for the Boost Au business if they refused to fully service customers, even if the network was different, I am sure that would have been part of the deal.

  • I think it's illegal in Aus for the network to refuse a network unlock. Just call and ask them to unlock it.
