  • Was waiting for sub $300, this'll do I think. Anyone know if it can be converted to GPE easily?

    • +1

Cannot be converted into GPE easily, Wifi and bluetooth no longer works when attempting to move to GPE, xda devs haven't been able to fix this issue.

      • Bummer, that's actually a deal breaker for me. Will stick with n7 for now, thanks for saving me the hassle!
Edit: I stopped being lazy and checked xda, seems there's plenty of roms so may just pull trigger

    $299 in binglee:http://www.binglee.com.au/lg-v500-white-g-pad-8-3-tablet

    • Thanks, just came back to post this

  • Really great tablet. Might wait until a newer generation though.

    • Feels super light! And very fast too. Quality finish

  • I'd buy this over any Samsung tablet. I feel they run a lot smoother.

I wonder why they opted for the Snapdragon 600 and not the 800?

    • +1

Already had the hardware optimised to be as efficient as possible with that CPU, I'd say.
You can tell straight away the build quality is of an extremely high standard, and I completely agree, it feels a hell of a lot smoother & faster than the Samaung ones.

      • Makes sense. I'd get it, but I'm waiting for a Nexus 8 ;)

  • Did the retailers made prior arrangements to reduce the price together?

    • No, they are competing now.

JB had exclusives for this unit until Feb 2013, now everybody else has it, so JB can no longer sustain the higher price tag without diminishing their sales.

      • I see. Have been tracking this tablet for the past month or two, just find it interesting that all of them decided to reduce the price yesterday/today.

        • Same reason Officeworks matches prices- once people say they saw it cheaper somewhere else they match the price.

  • Using mine right now. Great tablet!
And being both a software engineer (mobile apps, websites, games & software), a tech enthusiast and a member of OzBargain, you know you can trust me! ;)

  • Do they sell the black version in australia yet? I would prefer the black over the white…

  • Just bought a white one from JB in Robina QLD (no Bing Lee stores here)

I considered the Tab3 8" for a few $$ less, or the Tab3 10" for a few $$ more, but I believe both are slower speed and lack full HD screen res.

    • And just bought a second one… for $314 at JB.

Interestingly, the first JB HiFi rep said JB are now providing an extra 1 year warranty ON TOP of the factory LG warranty (2 years total) at no extra cost as part of a new service they are offering.

The second rep did not mention this, there is nothing written on the sales receipt, however I reckon 2 years is easily covered under the "must last for a reasonable time" clause of consumer guarantees act.

      • Oh nice, the original price which OP mentioned is still on at JB. How are you finding the tablet so far?

        • Tablet is going good - both family members I bought them for love them.

Just did the KitKat 4.4.2 update this morning.

Note, JB HiFi has dropped the price to $298 today.
