Electric Toothbrush

I'm in the market for a new electric toothbrush and it seems that the OralB IQ5000 is still the best one around, which is surprising as this model has been out for quite a few years now.

Are there any alternatives that are better, and if not, what's the best price/place to pick up an IQ5000?

  • Yes, Oral B is the way to go, we have been using Oral B for 10+ years, 'upgrade' to different model every couple of years. I think the IQ5000 is a little 'gimmicky', and too pricy for what it does.
At the moment we have the PC3000, it has the same brush speed as the IQ5000 (40,000 pulsations and 8,800 oscillations per minute), it has two speed modes. The red light on the handle flashes when you're brushing too hard, it has a built-in timer… I think it's pretty much all you need from a toothbrush.
The IQ5000 does have a separate timer… but is it really that important to see the clock when you brush your teeth???
Oral B often runs cash-back offers, that's when we usually buy ours. We bought ours from the Shaver Shop last time, it was on special and a $60 cash back from Oral B.
At the moment, Shavers Shop has IQ5000 for $159, PC3000 for $149…but with TWO handles! (i.e. husband and wife combo pack) If I were you, I would save the money to buy replacement brush heads…those aren't cheap.

  • I've got the 5000 and I think the wireless indicator thing is a pretty useless gimmick. Stick with the 3000, especially given that for for one sort of deal nancy mentioned.

  • Hi rev0, here's the deal you have been looking for:

  • Thanks NancyCat.

Tried my local BIgW but was told that the deal has been really popular and they are sold out, but they may get new stock on Monday.

Will try again tomorrow, and keep an eye out for any similar deals.

    • If they have none in stock, ask for a raincheck.
