GOTO PayPal, find the transaction, Click details, you will see a 15% contribution from CBIGSUNDAY courtesy of eBay plus your actual charge to your funding source which makes up the difference. The Story (speculation on my behalf)

One could assume that there is a story behind this as I have seen this on eBay in other countries recently and my assumption is that it’s an effort to drive top line sales and bring the stock price back up due to eBay's challenges in 2014:

Ebay’s stock price was recently at a 52 week low at US$48.06 and has been on a consistent decline since 2014. There are several factors that have influenced this (not in order of impact):

  1. The recent security issue/alerts;
  2. Departure of some key executives;
  3. The infighting with investor Carl Icahn;
  4. Alibaba IPO around the corner with Alibaba posing a real threat to Ebay;
  5. Amazon consistent strength and expansion (they’ll be here next year!);
(perhaps 4&5 should have Australian retail worried too!)
  6. Google Search algorithm changes resulting in lower rankings for ebay listings;
  7. Shut down of eBay Now - same day service;
  8. Some other undisclosed events (speculation).

Either way, I’m happy to support them this weekend and I’ll be buying up on Sunday !!!

The Instructions

  1. Proceed to Ebay Checkout Page: Checkout: Review order
  2. Enter coupon code in redemption code box (bottom right) and press apply
  3. Press Continue and pay with paypal
  4. Verify in the paypal screen/system that the discount was applied before you complete your order.

Hint: If you are buying multiple items then make sure the currencies of the items are the same because you will only get one shot at this coupon.

Please let us know what you are going to buy and share your bargains below please.

Will the professionals crash the site?

If you do the math then this is a potential $6 000 000 spend from eBay!

  • how come I can't find any $200 eftpos gift cards anymore? they are all $100. can someone link please?

  • So…can you add multiples to a cart NOW, but actually checkout and pay tomorrow once the code is active?

    Or…

do you have to start the whole add-to-cart then checkout process all tomorrow after 10am?

    • You can add to your cart beforehand then go back and use the coupon from memory.

  • I will be buying a nice 24 port gigabit switch - Netgear I suspect…

    • Or perhaps a HP 1810-24g

      Fanless design is appealing…

  • -2

So …. the 15% off will be on SOME (probably overpriced) items, not ALL items. I hope the almost 1400+ realise that.

    • Yes thats right Lounge.

    • +1

The ebay Facebook page suggests that the code applies to any item so long as it meets the terms (Over $50 and purchased during the offer period)

      https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=860456167315123&set=…

      One comment from ebay:

…it applies to any purchase over $50 made on ebay.com.au during the promotional period (from 10am this Sunday to midnight, or until coupon runs out). The purchase and payment must be completed on the Sunday (keep that in mind for auctions) and payment must be made with PayPal. Check out the full T&Cs here: http://pages2.ebay.com.au/Sunday

      Another

The discount applies for all products on eBay.com.au

I've never been so glad to be wrong! Scored a Moto G 16GB for $190. :)

  • Can I purchase something with the coupon and then pay with paypal the next day?

    • +2

Do you really want to be taking that risk?

  • Do you guys think the coupons will be able to be used at 10AM sharp? I have somewhere to go and won't have internet till 11:30AM….

Do you think Ebay might release it later than 10AM to generate publicity or something? Or should I stay home and skip the event that I have to be at (it's not important…)

    • +3

      Will the event have snacks?

      • nope, just weekly Badminton training…

        • Bring your laptop along and check it at 10am?

        • you could always tether a phone to a laptop for internet access. Although if you get too heavily into badminton training you might cock it up…

    • Sure you can have some of my cash, I dont mind.
So like, um link us to your eBay store, Knackers.

  • +1

Can you cash out from an Eftpos prepaid card?

  • So what are you guys planning on buying?

  • +1

could somone please link to me legit romoss power bank

  • +1

I'm not sure if this question has been answered yet but, how will you know if you are one of the first 60,000? You have to commit to buy before you can enter the code right? What if you're too late? You would still be legally contracted to complete the purchase.

    • +1

Ultimately there will be a lot of people who will get snared in the two step checkout and left without a coupon. Expect to see some negs here soon.

  • +21

    the coupon code is: CBIGSUNDAY

      post has been updated

      • i thot its not until 10am aest?

        • +1

that is when they are giving us the code, some one got it early

        • How did you get this code early … ??? I don't want to buy an item now and then they reverse the transaction (haha … it's payapal … that is their business model)

    • +1

Doesn't look like this will end well for eBay. The coupon may expire before 10am Sunday!

      • +1

        haha most likely will

        Thanks world cup!

    • Hi inkart, were you first to spot and post the code? If so you deserve a special mention in the post. I can't PM you because now I'm on holidays overseas.

      • +1

hi drb, thanks for your kind words and congratulations on your successful post! I saw the coupon code on ebay site last night and was surprised that nobody noticed it so i posted a comment. Its my pleasure to contribute something to your post. Sorry for my English :D and wish you have a good trip!

  • will it work?
Where can i use coupon code?

    • +2

You can apply the code when paying via Paypal from 10.01 AM till mid night tomorrow. Full terms and conditions here

If you buy things from multiple sellers and pay for all at once, read this guide

      • Note that one of the requirements is that all items must be of same currency. I just tried paying for a mount and a monitor. Didn't let me do that at the same time and I could only use the code for one item.

  • So excited!!!

  • +1

    it works!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Yes it does. Just made a purchase. Cheers OP.

  • +4

THE CODE WORKS ALREADY! Just put in for a PS4 ended up at $435.20 - paid through paypal with the confirmation "You saved AU $76.80 on this purchase"

        • +1

thanks vodkaman, please keep us informed if you receive the conformation

    • Great to hear! You could have gone for a few games on top of that to max out discount fully.

  • +1

Sweet just got a LG G2 white 16gb aussie stock for $334.04 using the coupon

  • Can also confirm that this works for multiple items, different sellers. I just purchased a nexus 5 and a jambox big from two different sellers, total of $690 minus $100 down to $590.

    • Separate transactions or just one?

      • One transaction, had them both sitting in my cart waiting for tomorrow morning!

      • +1

you can buy from multiple sellers but have to pay in ONE transaction.

        • Crap. If I knew about that, I could have saved even more money since I only saved $86 from my transaction.

  • whats good to buy i wonder

  • i am worried that if you purchase before 10am, eBay will cancel orders. Should i take the risk?

    • +2

      LOL another Woolies?

    • You worry too much. The logistics of that would be too complex. Even for ebay

      • Order and it works. Would rather have a cancelled order "hopefully not" rather than an expired voucher and my items selling out

  • +1

I bought 6 x $100 eftpos cards. Couldn't find anymore $200 cards so just paid extra. Only ended up saving ~ $70 with the 15% off. Oh well, still not bad.

    • +1

obs…arnt u taking arisk…paypal doesnt cover gift cards if something goes wrong??

      • I figure my CC will protect me? I got it from the Gifte guys. They seem legit and all so fingers crossed.

        • hmm ok~~ im just also thinking to buy but havent yet~ i read some of their negs, there isnt many but still~

      • +1

12 more have sold after my purchase. Looks like ozb'er jumping on board?

Edit: 54 (6 mins later). Last 1 left. After that you need to pay $104.95 each $100 card.

        • +1

Wonder what on earth happened to the $200 ones?
I am trying to decide whether to jump in or not.
Thing is, I would normally use Ing Paywave most of the time and that's $5 per $100 or so, so that's ~$25 in the case of 5 x $100 eftpos cards. $500 of these cards buys a $70 advantage but thats - $25 of missed out on Ing rebate when spent, so only $45 ahead.
Its really a 9% advantage with $500 tied in cards. OK if you had something in mind to purchase from a B&M store.

        • I'm confused as well. After the $200 cards were gone, I felt the profit margin is getting too small for the effort.

        • My thinking too.
The extra fees (Tot 6) just take it over the edge of worth it for me.I would probably bite if I could buy 3 x $200 but generally there are better random bargains here on the site.
Like I said, good if you had a purchase from a B&M store planned but I know for me, I might well spend more than I save as my brain doesn't seem to see gift cards as valuable as real money if I am just generally spending from them, thus I make more wasteful choices.

        • I think the $200 ones were taken by those who got the 25% off code. There's so many comments here i ceebs to find a link.
They only have 100 of each card( eftpos and visa), so it's not improbable that 50 people (assuming they bought the max of 4), got to them first.

    • 65 sold in an hour, ozbargainers at work.

      • +6

        • Ozbargained! 85 sold, listing ended!

        • The $104.95 cards are going like hotcakes too. 61 sold in the past hour.

  • YAY! The code works. Just bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8" 16GB Wi-Fi 4G White for $245.65 after discount

Edit: also received conformation email from ebay. Hope my order will not be cancelled. Thanks OP

  • Really have no idea what to buy….i feel i must find something, lol~~ gift cards r to risky i think

  • Your order total$157.00
    eBay Gifts or discounts total-$23.55
    Total $133.45 USD

  • Fantastic! Bought a couple of items, ~$500 after discount.

Coupon code still seems to work for the full 15% off other items, spent enough for this month though.

  • +4

Damn it so unprepared for this.. I want to buy something but don't know what..

    • +2

welcome to my world… lets battle together! lolz

    • +1

lol… if you are an ebay seller, buying stamps and registered bags at 15% off is a good deal

  • code can only use once?

  • -7

    Just bought 18 * $100 and 3 * $20 visa cards.

    • why 18? you know max discount is$100 right ? limited to 15%off, so max spend for full discount is ~$666

      • Perhaps he was able to get it 3 times either using other accounts or same account(!)? so that's 3x$620, why not $650?

edit: Looking at ebay ids, he probably used 3 different ebay accounts, with 3 different paypal accounts. I don't see 3 identical ebay ids.

      • -4

        I used 3 different accounts.

    • :S

  • Anyone else get an issue where your ebay invoice says you got the discount but paypal charged you the full amount?

    • no

    • Charged*

    • +1

have you clicked on the PayPal transaction to see how much you were charged on your credit card. Usually the main summary shows full cost, but in the breakdown they show the discount and the reduced amount charged to your credit card.

    • +4

      Not me.

PayPay shows the full amount in "My Account"

But when you look at the details it looks like this.

      http://i.imgur.com/afbCvki.jpg

      • same. no problems at all with my transaction so far, but let's wait and see :D

      • Yep, shows up the same for me. That takes a load off my mind before bed!

        Thanks guys!
