Edit: from gearbest rep regarding stocks level,

Store Rep gearbest 2 min ago new
Dear OZB members, hope everyone is having a great weekend. We are very glad to see that a lot of members are interested in our G1W-C dashcam. It is one of our best selling car dvr, and we are trying our best to offer it at possibly the best price online.

However, we didn't expect this deal was shared to OZB, so we only have 220 in stock. The first 220 orders will be shipped out before Oct 1. Since the National Day in China is coming soon (7 days holiday), we don't expect the next batch of G1W-C to be back in stock any day before the Oct 8. So orders after the first 220 will probably be dispatched around Oct 10. We will keep the post updated once we have a more accurate date.

We changed the status of this product to "Back Order", so you can still submit a order and make a payment authorization via PayPal. This means you just authorize us the rights to charge your order payment in the next 25 days. In this way, you don't actually pay for the order until we have G1W-C back in stock and ready to ship.

Thank you all for your understanding, and hope you all have a wonderful day!
Gearbest Team

    • Mine too. What a marathon wait, just a day short of 6 weeks!

  • Turned it on to play , trial and set up the date and time 2 days ago , when I turned it on again today, date & time back to default setting again, anyone has same issue?

  • anyone else still not received theirs yet?
order placed over a month ago, and it still hasn't been shipped out of china yet.

    • +1

I still haven't received mine. I ordered almost 45 days ago so I only have until Friday to start a paypal claim. I am going to start a paypal claim on Thursday if I don't receive it by then.

  • Still waiting here as well. Although the tracking information changed on 7/11 from "preadvised" to "on transport to country of destination"

  • Ordered mine on 6/10 and received shipping confirmation on 21/10, and received today.

  • Still waiting for mine..

  • mine arrived today. Not sure if its working properly. I cant get the menu to display as per the instructions. The screen shows only the camera feed and pressing any button except power does nothing. How do i bring up the on-screen display?

    • +1

If you've put a micro SD card in the cam it will start recording as soon as power is applied, press the 'rec' button to stop the recording and you should be able to access the menu.

      • Thanks for your help black Rose, Hmmmm. Yeah I've put in a micro sd (8Gb, class 10). Pressing rec doesn't do anything. Spewing! I noticed that the menu displays for a split second if I eject the card

        • If you can't get into the menu at all it sounds like you may have a bad one unfortunately.

    • +1
      1. Plug In
      2. Press button on top right. If you were recording, wait 2 seconds and press it again
      3. If no menu displayed, RESET the thing (should have a RESET button)
      4. If still no menu displayed at this point, you can try flash a new ROM on it (countless guides on google) as it might be a simple software bug - not hardware fault.
      5. If that doesn't work, open dispute.
      • Thanks for the step-by-step guide Tcm9669! Followed without success unfortunately. I tried to google for a guide on flashing the ROM with no luck. Please can you point me in the right direction? On the plus side, nothing exciting happened on my commute today so i didn't miss any dash cam action.

  • Mine arrived a couple of days ago and works a treat!

  • Sweet I got mine today. 44 days after I ordered. If I didn't get it today I was going to start a paypal dispute. Thanks for the deal fchis.

  • OHH GOD! I still haven't received it.
Tracking shows that it arrived to Australia on 6th of November,
no more info! whats wrong with them((((

    • That would be an AusPost issue then. Call AusPost tomorrow with the tracking number and find out where your item is.

    • Same here, tracking says it landed on the 6/11. Most likely in customs.

    • Received today in good condition.

  • A few things for those who have theirs:

    • I found that the included USB cable does not work (the one with the cigarette lighter jack on the end). Apparently the USB port in these machines is often dodgy. I used a different cable plugged in to a usb port in my car and it works okay.
    • I found that the last recording was getting corrupted (when I turned off my car). This firmware update fixed it https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B90I_Yu3gbxGNDQ3NGg0Mi1xamM…
    • g-sensor is best turned off. If it's on and the unit detects a bump (like a pothole), it will lock the recording and stop it from being deleted. I guess this is useful if you are in an accident, but otherwise it will take space up on the card.
    • Update — I got the included USB cable to work by taking the device apart and bending the casing of the USB port so that it's a tighter fit. It still comes out easily, but now that it's properly mounted it will hopefully stay in place.

I ran the cable along the roof (tucked in to the fabric seam), down the edge of the passenger door in the water seal, under the floor mat and in to the cigarette lighter. Can't even tell there's a cable!

    • Hi can elaborate more how you can update the firmware? Do I just plug the camera to my computer and click the link to update? Thanks

      • The firmware version that the cam is shipped with (2013.1112.18) is stable so I would stick with that. If you really want to update, at least have the original firmware copy saved somewhere so that you can revert back.

      • Format the card (via the menu in the cam)

Insert the card in your computer and copy the firmware to it

Insert the card in your cam and then it on.

After it boots up, format it again.

Check your firmware version in settings. It should be 2014 something

  • got it today! uhhh…installing now.

  • After some people on the dashcam forums said that a lot of counterfeit G1W's have been produced, I decided to check if mine was a counterfeit. Apparently if the video output is in .AVI instead of MOV and the resolution is 1080p-25fps instead of 1080p-30fps then it is a fake.

    • So.. Is it a fake or not?

      • No, they output MOV in 1080p @ 30fps.

A better test is to take it apart and look at the motherboard. I took the casing apart, but you need to unscrew stuff to get at the mobo.

      • Mine is not, but you should check yours if you are curious. I was suspicious at first because the date/time appeared on the bottom left hand side of the video instead of the right, but after checking file format and resolution settings it turns out this cam is the real deal.

Some people may/may not be aware this but you can use the cam by plugging the usb end into a phone charger, instead of starting the car.

        • I'm still waiting on mine, been in the country since the 6th though apparently…

I just found it funny how you said how to spot a fake, but then didn't actually say if yours was or not, hence what I said :-P

  • -1

checked mine. Not a fake. output is MOV. 30 fps

  • I'm still waiting on mine. I've spoken to GearBest and their 'support' isn't very great. I've gone around in circles 3x now trying to figure it out and nothing.

    • Same here.

    • i would suggest you to open a paypal dispute before 45 days.

      • Not sure it would get anywhere as the parcel is registered and shows that it was posted and in transit.

        • +1

That doesn't matter. They gave a lot of false tracking numbers to people on here and I'm sure paypal have already had a lot of complaints about the company. I'd be surprised if paypal believed them instead of you.

  • Is there some sort of duration limit? recording @ 1080p but clips always ended at around 43-45min. SD card not even full. :/

    • +1

alright i think i found out the answer… the SD card is in fat32 so single file cant exceed 4gig. Had to set it to 5min clips in loop.

  • Finally turned up today.

  • +1

Well mine finally arrived today (at 9am on a Sunday.. what the?).

Took about 15-20 mins to set up and hide all the cables, but works well so far from the testing I did. I roughly painted the silver part of the front, made it stand out like crazy, but is still easily seen from outside the car.

Some of the settings didn't stick at first, and the 'rec' button originally didn't work as the 'enter' key of sorts, so had to hold either the up button or down button depending on the menu to have it set, but when I played around with it just before again the 'rec' button now works as it should.. confusing.

All in all during day testing it's good, well worth the money. Will do some night tests during the week and see how it goes as well.

    • +1

Haaha, that's two ozbargainers who set up their cameras today :P

I received it a week or two ago, but was lazy to setup and learn how to use. It's up now. It will get tested tomorrow during work hours. Let's see how it performs.

Keen to hear how it works for you as well.

      • I'll keep you updated. On holidays at the moment though so not going to be driving my car much for a little bit :P

I'm mostly keen to see how long date and time last without driving it, from reading online it can vary anywhere from a day or two to about five days. If I'm not driving the car much, might just take my portable USB power pack in there and plug it in for an hour or two, easier than having to change the time and date all the time!

I'm wondering if people leave their attached in the car all the time, even when parked? The windscreen holder is VERY tight on mine, and is a pain to disconnect the dashcam from. I was thinking about removing the whole thing, but 2/5 times I've put the suction cup on the damn thing has fallen off!

  • anyone on here go with the g1wh instead ?what the quality like ?

  • I bought a Kingston 32GB Class 4 microSD to use with the dash cam, but I've started getting Memory Errors with the card after just over 3 weeks of use (I use my car every day, so the card would have got full after about a week). I've also noticed the Format option on the dash cam doesn't format the card - it just sets the correct cluster size.

I've done a chkdsk on the card and it all appears to be ok. I've also set recording of the video to 3 minute blocks.

Can I ask others what memory cards you're using? Looks like I might have to grab another brand. It seems from reading other forums a Transcend or Samsung may seem to be the way to go.

    • Samsung EVO 32GB working well for me so far.

      • Cheers mate - might give it a go.

  • Anyone else have an issue with disconnecting when plugging in to the computer and using mass storage function. Mine seems to be in a very specific position and cannot be moved or it disconnects which is annoying. I hope it doesn't play up when I actually need to use to footage but I would probably invest in a micro sd reader if that was the case. No problems with recording footage in the car and image quality is still great.

  • Want to get this as a rear facing camera for my car. Already have a front facing camera powering from the cigarette lighter.

What's the best way to wire from the rear window (car is a sedan)? Do I need to extend the power cord if I plug this into the cigarette lighter? I already have a cigarette lighter splitter.

    • +1

I would like to know this too. I feel that for the rear, I will be trying to conceal the camera or at least not make it too obvious as some drivers might not like to have their face recorded without their approval. Just trying to avoid road rage..

  • If anyone is still interested in ordering one of these, the codes still work, even if the AU/US $ is not a good for us now, however the black colour is out of stock:

    Dear customer

    Thank you for your order.

Sorry to tell you the Digital Zoom Video Recorder EG0540501 is out of stock, how about to change to the blue one EG0540502 ?

If you are not agree to change this phone, you can choose another phone to replace?

    Best regards
    Support Center Team

    • the black one was in stock last week :) if you want a black one just wait a little while…

      • I assumed they'd offer the option of waiting rather than giving me a refund.

        • oh sorry, I didn't realise you had ordered then received a reply..

        • Ordered, paid, THEN they opened a ticket in their system with the info above - almost felt like bait-and-switch, especially since the black one is still not showing as out of stock on the website.
