Similar prices to a deal which was on here last month but has since expired. Airasia is still cheaper - just under $500 return with a quick search, but would personally rather the full service for less then an extra $100

Booking period until 30 September 2014.

Travel Period 5 Aug 2014 - 7 Dec 2014 and 16 Jan 2015 - 31 Mar 2015.

  • Good price for a good airline! Looking to go back to Vietnam, so this plus an Air Asia flight to Vietnam is a very cheap option!

Has anyone travelled on air Malaysia from Oz bargain since the 2 flights?

What was the feeling like on the plane?

I am not sure how it compares to other airlines. I guess you can say especially for the second incidents its just very unfortunate. Answering to your question, I doubt there is anything wrong, if you are coming from a safety perspective, though they are now in the limelight, so the news are swarming over them with faults. Would say that what I felt is that it doesn't feel so premium anymore as they as cost cutting, recently flew with them from KL to London, feel that the meals provided (2 meals and 1 light snack) is not adequate for a 13 hours flight. So don't expect an emirates experience. But otherwise, would take this anytime over air asia.

I traveled from Bangkok to KL on Thursday in a near full, and near brand new Boeing 737-800. Then connected with a 70% full A330-300 to Perth.

Both flights were fine - as you would expect from a 4/5 star airline. Food on the Perth leg was great - a spicy chicken rendang, and as many drinks (beer, wine & spirits) as I wanted.

There was increased security at KL, with an extra passport check by a couple of burly Malaysian coppers, apparently under the direction of a white guy in civilian clothes. I would guess AFP, or other Oz spook.

No hesitation in flying with them again, particularly as their prices are far better than Thai or Singapore Air, with only a slightly inferior level of service.

      • The big white burley guy would have been DFAT, they've been doing passport checks on flights to Australia for a while now.

I flew with them a couple weeks ago. The staff members were very nice, both on and off the airline. The flight was pretty packed 85% I think. The meal was good, drink availability was pretty average though (wine only?). Pretty smooth flight KL-Perth.

So many airlines. So many specials.

Their prices need to drop more than their planes, if they're going to even get a look-in.

That was a very tasteless comment mate.

        Truth hurts?
One plane going-down without answers is unacceptable. Two is enough to ignore this company until they cease to exist.

Only the naive think there was nothing they could/can do about it.

        • One went down without answers. The other was shot out of the sky

        • @flashi007: Due to a flight-path they shouldn't have been on. There is dirt on their hands, 100's of questions without answers… millions of people asking.

        • What nonsense.

        • @Utopian: actually the flight path was cleared. Singapore airlines was using the same path. Get your facts straight.

  • Combine this with a life insurance policy for ultimate peace of mind :).

      maybe "disappear insurance" as well.
      Otherwise u won't be covered..

  • Any deals to Hong Kong?

  • I need to fly Singapore to Sydney in about a month.

I can book Scoot home. It will cost me 200 AUD, it's a direct flight but it's not on my "favourite" day.

Now with this sale I can book Sin-Syd one way on a full service airline for about 260AUD. I have more choices of flights and will get fed, but it costs more and I have to do a (short) transit in KL. Not sure if it's worth spending the extra 60 bucks.

This sale ends on the 30th, Scoot will have it's weekly tuesday sale. I'll see then and decide. Hopefully the sale won't sell out by then.

Opinions on whether it's worth the extra 60 bucks?
