Me and my family is staying in 2 units on top of each other, so like they are on the sixth floor, I'm on the seventh and literally they are staying above me. So we are planning to share internet together.
I have AC1600 WiFi Modem Router, Model D6300.
However, we checked the signal, and turn out he gets is very weak on the seventh floor, So I'm considering to get either Extender or Repeater
But as I was reading and researching, Extender only work when you in the same electricity circuit. Also kind of confused what is the different or they actually the same thing?
Any care to comment and recommend me, which one is the best option ??

Position the modem high and try lying the modem on it's side to see if that improves things..
Also try positioning the modem as central as possible and in an area free of metallic objects (ie fridges/filing cabinets on both floors) try also to position away from walls and pipes.
And also download a WiFi Scanning app to your phone to see what the clearest 2.4GHz Channel is, then change the Channel settings in your router (Auto mode is quite often not Auto at all, or only switches between the 3 main channels).
Channel 1 will have best penetration (but the difference will be negligible really)
Finally, if possible, set the modem on the floor of Level 7 and transmit downstairs.
You can get WiFi Repeaters, but they need a reasonable signal to pick up and re-distribute.
Might also be worth buying a second router with external antennas for solely sharing upstairs and setting it up with a directional reflector like the windsurfer if you end up getting a WiFi Repeater.
