I saw the Sony FE Zeiss deal

Sony E-Mount 24-70mm F4 Carl Zeiss - $849 (Free Shipping) @ Camerapro

While I was browsing through their store, I saw they have a low out right price for the A7 body@$1189 some may say Videopro deal months ago was cheaper @ 1091.80, but that was pricing in the cash back which many complain about registering for it. This is straight out right price and I think its really good.

With the Zeiss F4 total come to $2038.For some reason their A7 plus Zeiss F4 bundle still listed as $2,398.00. So if you buy them, make sure yo pick them separately.

A7ii is shipping this month, so A7 will drop below $1000 very soon.

    • No guarantees. To date, the A7s have held their prices exceptionally.

If you were in the market for a camera, I'd consider this without repercussion for what may be released in the future.

      • A7s will be a different scenario, since it is a special camera for low light (video)shooting (only 12 megapixel sensor…). For the A7 which is the base model of this series, the lowest price I've seen before was $950. $1189 is not an attractive price, definitely will go down by $200 next few months.

$950 is pricing in the TRS too. $1091.80 after cash back is the lowest I've seen. For me I prefer this rather than chasing cash back.

        • Sorry I didn't mean "a7s" I meant to say "a7's".

I think this is a good price irrespective - I've had the camera since it came out and would happily pay full retail all over again for it.

Do you have a link to the ozb $950? Was it a TRS deal like another poster suggested?

    • Agreed. A7 will go for under $1000 very soon.

      • An update on A7 and A7ii price. Sony has official release hong king and taiwan price which translate to about 2k so $1899 I was quoted was close enough.

A7 in Hong Kong is already selling at adjusted price which roughly Transkei to the camera pro price.

Like I say other retailers are just trying to hold on to the old price and con buyer as a Christmas sake. It's look like camera pro is just selling at the new price. And from the look of Asia pacific pricing, nope it's not going to go under $1000 unless you TRS it.

  • No it won't I know retailer got stock already and A7 ii is going for $1899. A7 will go down to around $1200 mark. Some shops are not moving the price because they are pricing in the Christmas sale.

  • Have had the camera since it was released. Love it. This is a real bargain.

  • Also bear in mind that the Zeiss is only an F4 lens, but its light and compact which goes with the A7 body.

If you are after function wise. It may be a better idea to claim the LEA4 Alpha lens adapter and buy the Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8 VC. The lens is only $100 more compare to the Zeiss. Its also bigger and heavier…but its F2.8!!

also consider that the FE lens are OSS whereas most a-mount lens (not sure about the tamron, correct me if I'm wrong) won't have OSS due to most alpha bodies have in body stabilisation (which of course the a7ii also has).
Also with the LEA4 you'll lose a stop due to the translucent mirror.

I have an SLT camera and I own the a7 with the LEA4.. (with beercan btw) and smaller lens is always welcoming.

Tamron is stabilized. that is what the VC stands for….Vibration Cancellation. In fact Tamron SP 24-70 VC is the only FF stabilized 24-70 for DSLR in the market.

        • Except the Sony version doesn't have VC.

        • @Orpheus:
You are correct on that, may be the two can't work together. I wonder if there will be problem with the A7 Ii IBIS and the OSS lens….

        • @syswong: The Tamron 24-70/2.8 along with every other lens that has no IS will have stabilisation from the body with the a7II. Any native e-mount lens with OSS will have 'dual IS' as the IBIS will work together with the lens OSS.

    • LA-EA4 has only the basic entry level pdaf system. It was also made for aps-c so the focus points are tiny and bunched in the center. Also incompatible with AF assist on native flashes.

  • A7 mark 2 has internal anti shake inbuilt, bascially if married with the a mount connector it is an a99 with out the control wheels.
It is a way better machine to hook to a mount lenses.
