We've escalated the concern with the Good Food Gift Card, and the update will be sent to your email within 24 to 48 hours.

Hmmm, just an update, not a giftcard. And it'll be the end of the 1 month subscription on Monday, well played fairfax, well played. Thank god there's paypal.

      • Do you think you'll lodge a PayPal dispute or will you just wait and see what happens? My partner got told that they weren't even eligible for the promotion!

Still haven't had a chance to contact them yet though!

        • Email said up to 48 hours, so I'll give them until tuesday before escalating. In the meantime, I've requested to unsubscribe and cancelled preapproval on paypal. They're not getting another cent from me.

The signup page definitely said all new subscribers, website access was on the same page, and no exclusions were stated in the t&c, don't see how they can get out of this one. Especially when people are actually receiving their giftcards, abeit only after a bit of nudge. Will let you know how it play out.

PS: did anyone manage to get a screenshot of the t&c like last time (rebel giftcard)?

        • @iChopstick:I have a screen grab!! I'll upload soon!! :)

        • @imissbeans: Awesome! That should help with everyone's case.

    • Thank you for the grabs, I almost forgot about this deal, have a chat with them today and admit I was eligible, wait up to 3 days for email to be resent. The subscription is due to renew tomorrow but cancelled the Paypal pre-approval already. Let's see how this ends up.

You're welcome! I usually take screen grabs when I sign up for a good deal, just in case!

Emailed them 6 days ago - they said the giftcard would be emailed within 48 hours and it hasn't been. Have canceled paypal subscription - hopefully they don't use that as excuse not to send it. I will either get the gift voucher or I'll get a refund though.

I get that this promotion may have been unexpectedly popular but that's no excuse for simply not living up to their promises and telling customers nothing. A reasonable thing to do if you didn't want to honour it would be to email everyone within a couple of days giving them the option of a refund or to continue the subscription without a voucher. Not contacting anyone at all and not living up to their promises unless pestered by customers is extremely dishonest.

I subscribed to web access for The Ages when you ran a promotion offering $40 Good Food Giftcard for new subscribers. It was clearly stated in the T&C that the giftcard will be emailed to me up to 10 days after the subscription. It's been a month and I still haven't seen a sight of the card nor heard an update from your team. That's very poor and I don't think you deserve a subscriber if you can't do what you promised. Please cancel my subscription. Let it be known that I still expect my $40 Good Food Giftcard as part of the offer/contract when I subscribed in February as a new subscriber.

Just received my $40 giftcard in the junk mail

Replied back because I keep getting emails saying they're waiting for a response from me, even though I haven't heard once from their marketing department!

Threatened ACCC if I haven't got it by c.o.b. Monday, let's see how that goes

  • Never mind.

  • Thanks for the screens @imissbeans

    Hi There,

I subscribed to the The Age Digital+Weekend Delivery on 17/02/2015.

The offer at the time was to receive a $40 Good Food Gift Card with any subscription. I have provided screenshots of the
    offer for reference.

Details of the offer were that the gift card would be forwarded by email within 10 days, but it has now been 1 month.

Could you advise of what has happened here? I have suspended my pre-approved payments pending resolution of this issue.

    Regards

You're welcome!! :) hope you get your gift card!

  • Hi ,

Thank you for getting back to us.

I understand what you're feeling right now and I can see why you get very frustrated. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience in the delay of sending the voucher. Rest assured that I have made the necessary contact to our person in charge for the $40.00 Good Food Card to follow up the current status of the complimentary card.

We'll surely get in touch with you once I've got the update from them.

Please note the resent emails can take up to 3 working days to process and send. Please check your junk/spam mail boxes and note that the email from name is not Fairfax but Good Food Gift Card. Also the gift card lasts 1 year to use card from activation (needs to be done within a month of receiving the email).

Should you have any subscription related query, please do not hesitate to reply back to this email or contact our subscription team on 13 66 66.

    Many thanks,

    Sounds promising

    • It's been so much work for you so hope you get it in the end!

  • My partner finally got her gift card after several emails. Now I have got to try and get mine! I have sent an email and phoned them today with no luck so far. You just have to keep nagging them until they finally give it so I am ready for the battle.

  • Finally got mine! :)

  • Finally got mine as well after having to chase it up with customer service.

  • Thanks OP. I also received mine, I filed my support case on Friday and they re-send a voucher for me. I almost forgot about the card and realized after Paypal notification.

  • Hmm, can someone tell me how do I cancel the recurring payment on Paypal?
I can't seem to located 'Fairfax Media' under my Paypal 'Pre-approved payments' list.

  • Took a week and 3 emails before they unsubed me. Kept trying to convince me to stay by throwing cheap subscriptions at me.

At present, your subscription is paid until 16/04/2015. We have stopped your subscription from this date and prevented any further payments from being debited.

Yea right, glad I took the matter into my own hands.

Weird, I've had another code came through today. It's a different unique code, so I assume they've sent me 2 $40 cards?

    • +1

      Same here, 2 different codes

      Winning!

    • Me three!!!!! :) Redeemed it right away!!

  • I sent them an email asking if they can be stacked (as there's nothing in their FAQs). Will let you know :)

    • +1

I've used them in the past and I've stacked a few at the restaurants I've been to. The restaurants had no problem doing more than one gift card transaction to pay for the meal.

  • Got all 4 of mine today lol

  • 4 emails and still nothing.. bit of a joke really…
