Need suggestions for best value prepaid or month to month mobile offer with at least 3GB of data.

Hi everyone,

Coming off Vodafone plan next month and need some suggestions for a new carrier.
Would love to keep my old number if possible too which I've had for 10 years.

Plan needs:

  • As much data as possible. (currently have 3gb but would prefer 4 or 5gb)
  • decent 3g/4g coverage in Melbourne
  • customer service that isn't too dodgy/shonky (they all are I know lol).
  • call wise I would like unlimited but if it's something like 500 minutes worth of calls a month that's great.

Number one option at the moment is the Amayasim unlimited month to month for $44 and the first month is $20.
Anyone know of a good competitor vs this plan/deal?

I'm also looking at the lycamobile supersaver plan which is currently $19 for unlimited national calls+texts and 5GB of data. Surely there's a catch to this offer though right?

Opinions and thoughts very much appreciated.

I'm about to jump on Optus' $60 Sim Only Plan.

Unlimited talk, text and 6GB of Data. Every additional 1GB of data = $10 surcharge to your bill. Just what I need.

No contract either, so I'm well pleased.

    Details here…

    • Why are you not going optus 2 dollar days unlimited calls and text and 15gb for 30 days.
      Or am I forgetting something?

  • Remember, it sounds too good to be true, might want to read: www.ozbargain.com.au/node/180214 that indicated it is.

Surely there's a catch to this offer though right?

    See discussion above.

If it were me I'd do the $20 port Amaysim, grab two packs $2days $30 along the way.
If it's comfortable, stay. If not, back to voda optus - but - stay prepaid, for like in finite data 48 hours each Fri night til APR-2015.
No current deal comes close (for me), optus closed theirs unfortunately, If we're lucky voda either grandfathers or decides its popular/does something adverse.
I'll be getting $90 to cover 3 months at cap 40 (750.00 +2gb) in prime time, 25% bring the packs/recharges down to 30.

  • Seeing as I enjoy streaming 1-2 Netflix movies per weekend on unlimited Sat-Sun. Anyone aware if Telstra/Optus have similar planned on the horizon, for BYO ~ $40 ??
Pretty happy that all charges are capped neatly on prepaid. I wonder if others may follow Voda's lead to cover international calling in-plan & uncharged MMS.

  • I'm moving to Jeenee mobile soon as my discounted Voda Red Only $50 plan (30% off) is ending mid March. Optus 4g, 3gigs, counted by kb for $35 pm
