Pre owned games are good when you actually cannot buy a new copy of the game.

…or finding a rare title (such as Catherine or Rock Band 3).

        • -1

          yeah nah thats bullcrap

second hand cars do not support the manufacturer, dont buy them

          @tonyjzx:

same with second hand milk. It doesn't support Dairy farmers.

        • +2

@jv: Doesn't seem like its the same for second hand panties…. It does support the wearer….

        • @tonyjzx:
"First hand" cars do not support the customer, most of us can't afford to buy one, let alone pay for repairs…

        • you can buy Catherine on PSN, below $10 when on sale.
buying second hand is a must when is NOT in the PSN, i.e. lollypop chainsaw

Except if the preowned games market allows people to sell their old games and use that money to buy new games?

    • +9

This is such a bull crap reason. Oh yeah let's just support the developers/publishers and ignore the distributions, brick and mortar shops, and everyone else involved in delivering the game to your hand.

It sounds more like you are justifying yourself as a pirate.

Yeah I wouldnt buy a pre-owned house bcos then I cant support the building developer and that upsets me the most, thats not who i am.

  • +3

Nothing special. All pre-owned games are at full price. The BOGOF sale two months ago was a lot better.

    • I bought Little Big Planet 3 for $20 preowned, it's practically a new copy. Lowest price I've seen for LBP3 is probably around $35

  • To avoid the embarrassment from their last pre-owned "sale" where most pre-owned games cost more than the new ones, EB have lifted the price of all new games to their maximum RRP. For those that haven't played them yet, Watch Dogs + AC: Black Flag + COD: Ghosts for $60 all up (PS4) ain't bad, albeit older titles … not sure I see many other deals however.

    Buy 2, Get 1

    What ?

  • +13

scam - they've hiked up the prices to more than places sell the games new by a significant margin

    • Yea pretty much all the more recent releases are hiked up to RRP prices not even second hand prices. lol.
Not sure if that is classified as a bait and switch.

      • I really don't see how this could be classified as a bait and switch. The prices for both new and old stock are readily available, and while not every EB store will necessarily have stock of each item, every single one will have a pretty decent volume of sale items available given the percentage of second hand stock they carry.

      • Not sure if that is classified as a bait and switch.

I'm not sure you have a good grasp of what a bait and switch is..

        • It's not a bait and switch by the traditional means. However what can you describe when a company changes all their prices before they have a sale? Lol.

  • As mentioned, EB's pre-owned pricing is a bit of a joke when it's pretty close to buying the title brand new.

Only good if you want something rare and can't be found elsewhere.

  • Last sale was better - some of the discounts then were really good.

  • You can use this promo to get 3x xbox wireless controllers for $56

Perfect for making a steambox or htpc

  • Bought a few last time and none of the games came with any manuals or proper cases. I'm not too picky, so it's fine with me. However, completists are better off looking elsewhere.

    • I know the cover shouldn't matter but I don't want a blank cover. Happened last time. Did pick up an "as new" copy of Max Payne 3 for $8 though in store (ps3) :-)
