it works at Woolis Caltex gas staion

    what about petrol stations?

    • -4

it's an asian thing, we call it gas station

      • -3

        Perhaps, but this is Ozbargain…

        • +10

          @notme:

          Racist much?

why are you calling me racist ?

        • +4

@notme: JV isn't, just saying Australian (country) bargain

        • -7

          @jv:
who cares… asians cant use ozbargain?

        • +8

          @notme:

North Americans also call petrol, gas. If someone had said "It's a Canadian thing, we call it a gas station", would you still have accused jv of having made a racist comment?

        • +2

@SmiTTy: argue about terminology all you like, don't continue to play the race card… yawnnnn

        • +2

          @SmiTTy:

I'd say most people on this site are Asian..

In fact the founder of this site is Asian!

        • Not calling you racist, but thats just a crap joke.

  • +6

I used the 15% off code to buy this…..oh wait, no I didnt.

    • -2

Bet you forgot the cashback as well.

  • +13

im still waiting on my $500 caltex e-card - even after 3 emails and 1 phone call with them and they confirming i will get it 10 days after they guaranteed i will get it - still nothing in email :(

    • +3

meanwhile, they're earning interest on your payment?

    • +1

      Feel sorry for you.

      You've ozBargain-ed by Groupon.

Edit: you've been ozBargain-ed by Groupon.

    • +1

I only got one $50 caltex voucher from Win7 deal (was due 2), from Microsoft. Only been 4 years. Anyyyy day now.

  • +5

    It's a trap !

    • +2

It's an interesting experiment by Groupon, to see just how small the discount can be on gift cards before we realise the various hassles involved aren't worth it and stop buying them…

      • If they're experimenting why aren't they changing the discount? Groupon keeps offering 7.5% don't they?

There was that early morning deal I missed out on recently, was that discount better than 7.5%?

      • +1

        Couldn't have said it better!

  • +1

    are these valid at woolworths?

  • Yeah they knocked back the 15% offer!

  • Received the email as well. Bought another $600.

  • Applicable for Masters as well?

    • +2

I assume so. Read the T&Cs. All Woolworths eCards are treated the same and should be accepted at at Woolworths group stores.

  • I am not allowed to buy more….don't know why…

  • +1

It is ALWAYS 5% off with your state motoring organisation if you are a member.
    Eg. http://www.racq.com.au/membership/what-you-get/discounts/Woo…

    • RACV also offered the same deal. But I have 50$ Groupon gift card that I need to use.

    • Always 5% with Entertainment Book as well.

      • +2
        • +2

          True. I should've said at a minimum it's 5%.

        • +2

          @sween64:

          ;) You were right too.

          Anyway.

Much more reliable through RACV and Entertainment book, because it's a direct purchase from the woolies gift card website. I usually get mine the same or next business day.

        • @googleyahoo69: Yeah. Direct from Woolies website is better. This is good if you don't have a membership. I've purchased from both, that way I can usually get a 7.5% discount every couple of months.

  • +4

    Don't trust groupon

  • Be careful which payment method you use as they often process it overseas - I had a $55 charge added by ANZ which Groupon refunded. They suggested paying with paypal to avoid the chance of this.

    • Always pay with paypal. Never not had any problem.

      • +13

        Never not had any problem.

Hmm so always had a problem? I'll stay away…

  • +1

    It is only 7.5% Max…

    Cashrewards says
"Cashback is currently not payable on Any Woolworths Group Gift Cards purchased through Groupon"

    • +2

      Better than nothing I reckon.

      Let's say you fill up 40L of fuel @ $1.40per litre = $56

      With this voucher, you're saving 7.5% = $4.20

      Now, $4.20 divided by 40L of fuel = 10.5c.

In other words, this is similar to using a 10.5c/L fuel voucher.

Obviously this is just an example, so your milage (so to speak) will vary.

      • Agreed. I was trying to indicate that the cashrewards doesn't add more discount. May be my wording looks bit negative.

      • $1.4 * 7.5% = 10.5c…

  • +1

How long do they take to receive normally? I am shopping at Big W today.

    • From Groupon a few days I Recall.

  • -1

    are these valid at Masters

  • Also available $185 for a $200 BIG W eGift card

  • Groupon site confusing, has ticking time showing offer closes in 10 hrs, yet description has offer ends on 1 April.

Also not sure this is a wish gift card or a BigW gift card - Woolie's site makes no mention of BigW card.

    • Same thing.

  • +1

My $50 groupon gc bought at 15% discount finally came in mail yesterday. Only took 4+weeks. Spent as soon as I saw this deal. Total $15 off $100. Now need a nice woolies deal to stack with…

  • I'd buy more but I don't need more. Next time.

  • Thanks.
    Bought another 10 x $100 and 4 x $200.

  • I dream of the day I can buy gift cards with gift cards

    • +1

The day is here. They just have to be different gift cards. Eg You can use these gift cards to buy gift cards at Woolies for Dick Smith or Ticket Master.

      • I agree with sween, I used a woolies gift card at the big w automated checkouts to buy an equivalent JB Hifi one.

        • It isn't always successful. I tried exactly what you did but the Big W I was at had weight sensors. The card wasn't detected and the machine asked for Assisstance. The attendant said gift cards couldn't be bough at self serve and then out the check out they wouldn't accept my Woolies eGift card. I couldn't be bothered arguing. The gift card was already 10% discounted.

    • Don't we all. ;)

  • +2

Last time they had this deal I paid for them at 9am 16th Jan. Received them at 2am 20th Jan. Issue date was 19th Jan and expiry is 12 months after that.

  • So we can't use the 15% off Groupon with it, cashrewards won't pay, how about price pal anyone?

But we could use it with a Woolworths fuel voucher to buy fuel right?

    • +1

Yes you can pay with eGiftCard but only if the fuel shop is Woolworths brand (e.g. NOT Star Mart or Caltex). The best way is to ask whether they accept eGiftCard before you fuel up.

    • +1

      http://pricepal.com.au/Groupon-Australia

Please note that cashback will not be honoured on Groupon gift cards, including any Woolworths Group Gift Cards.

  • The technical issue worths 7.5%!

  • Participating Stores

Look for the stores that accept eGift Cards.

  • Is this essentially the same one from Entertainment Book's offer? Thanks in advance ^^

    • Looks like it to me

  • Can you buy Flight Centre gift cards with this? Does anybody know what value Flight Centre gift cards they stock at Woolworths or BigW?

    • The trouble is I think flight centre gift card is charging pay$5 something card fees

      • +4

The fact is that you probably already lost way more than $5 by booking through Flight Centre instead of directly through airline or online engine..

        • +3

I'm surprised Flight Centre are still operating lol, I guess there's still lazy people out there

        • +1

          @montorola:
They price match what you find online. Best of both worlds: online price (if you do your homework) plus security of a brick&mortar shop where to go back if there is a stuff up and a real person to take charge of fixing the stuff up Online…good luck to you!!! And because you can go there they cannot hang up on you like they do for the online customer service (Expedia anyone?)

On the other hand…plenty of lazy people anyway…the call it "convenience". That's why Flight Centre is thriving.

        • Edit the comment above Actually they do not match. They beat your price…by $1 ;-)

        • +3

@maxi: change your ticket, and it's $500 extra. And that was from a manager "friend".

          Never ever again.

        • @Utopian:
Is that why they match prices? They hope that you have to change your ticket so they can hit you with fees? But do you have to use them if you need to change the ticket? Can't you go directly to the airline and bypass FC?

        • +2

@maxi: wasn't there some price fixing that occurred with this company. ..some how they got away with it. ..

        • What really irks me about Flight Centre is their stupid motto.

"We will beat any airfare quote or you fly free"

So instead of beating a competitor by $1 and still make some money, they would make a total loss and give you a free flight?

          Pathetic.

  • +1

I will ask them to credit my $50 discount now that the 'technical issue' has been resolved.

  • Argh why do Groupon change the url on these deals every few days…

  • strange. I can't log in.

Even after I've tried resetting the password several times, I still can't log in.

  • Just got my Big W gift vouchers, how about you guys?

    • Haven't received mine as yet..are they set out like the woolworths ecards?
Also just checked my credit card statement and the (profanity) have charged me an extra $5.55….was going to use PayPal as I always do but from previous experience PayPal don't have buyer protection for Groupon vouchers!!!!
They can either refund me the 'overseas fee' or they can refund me the entire amount…..!

      • 'overseas fee'

ING? We should make a list so that people aren't caught out…

      • Yeah, exact layout as the woolies ones, just different logo (big w).

That's lame how they charged you a fee! My statement says GROUPON SYDNEY AU, so it was processed here. You should definitely take it up with them and add how some people were charged locally whereas you were charged overseas, etc etc

        • yes i got my gift cards this morning as well

        • Mine says GROUPON ZURICH on statement….losers!

Betting the GROUPON SYDNEY AU ones were processed first…hence how you have already received them!

I can see this turning into another grand Groupon stuff up….swore I wouldn't deal with them again after their balls up with the Woolworths Online coupon which wouldn't work!

        • Presuming these ecards are emailed from www.everydaygiftcards.com.au directly?

Fingers crossed I'll have mine by the time I finish work this afternoon…….!!

        • @adele58:
Strange. Mine says Groupon Zurich as well but I'm not charged any "overseas fee".

BTW, I haven't received giftcards yet. and I can't log in to Groupon using email/password even after resetting 10 times.

  • Just had my reply back from Groupon (mighty efficient in that department!) they WILL refund me…either into my bank account (screenshot first of my credit card statement….no thanks!) or issue me with a Groupon credit! Opted for the store credit (might just buy another voucher WITH PayPal this time).

They also recommended using PayPal is the future.

    Still NO voucher received :(

    • Still NO store credit and….NO egiftcard (was wanting to use this today!)

      • same here. haven't got my egiftcard neither.

        • me too. it's been almost a week? the last time i got these (in jan) they came in 4 days

  • Just received an email from groupon.

My account has been restricted because a multiple high value purchases have been made under the same credit card or PayPal account and asked me to send a scan of credit card statement with name, address and last 4 digits of credit card number.

  • Bugger it want this and thought 5pm today ends but over last night Expired MOD!
