    • price has dropped a lot. i am waiting for a deal for 1tb at sub 400aud to upgrade my rmb's 256gb

  • Anyone have an idea if Dick Smith allows pick up?

    • +2

It does offer click and collect but it's item specific so unfortunately there is not a yes or no answer to your question, unless you can give us a specific link to the item.

      • Won't be necessary now. Found it cheaper @ Futu Online, and they have the click and collect option, even delivery is free. Appreciate the response though, thanks!

  • I'm looking for a good android phone around the $500 mark and so far have settled for the kogan Samsung galaxy S5 for about $450. Has anyone found anything better?

    • +1

G3 from kogan for about $450

    • +1

Not sold on any of the sites in this deal that I am aware of but have you considered a Oneplus One? Can be had for around the 500 mark as you require and is easily as good as an S5.

  • whats the chances of the Macbook Airs dropping in price? $1080 for 13" MBA isn't really a bargain from kogan

    • +2

Keep an eye on the eBay group deals tomorrow. Last year they had 13" Airs going for $750 and 11" Airs going for $500. Gotta be quick as they sold out fast!

      • group deals? when are the group deals usually on? or is it just because theres a sale tomorrow? cheers

        • Dont tell me you missed out the Macbook Air 11 for $500 last year. Also there was iPhone 5s 16GB for $430 in Nov 2013 :D

        • @regenade: yeah… i missed it lol, does it just come once in a while randomly? when do the ebay group deals come on?

  • +3

Had my eyes on this yesterday and price was $798. Today it's $897, but still $798 on the DS website. This price increase occurred early this morning.

    • Removed.

    • yeah i saw this yesterday too for $798 on their ebay site.. so lame!

    • Actually this is still not bad for decent mid-range laptop (i7-4510U/8GB/1TB/Can't tell if the video card is an 840M or 820M though):

      $699.66 (extra 2% cashrewards + click & collect)
and then $99 acer cashback makes it
$600.66 (compared to $699 if bought from DSE's own site)

      • $574.40 after cashback if you buy from DS store website. Use code to take take off $70. Pay with 7.5% discounted wish cards then $99 cash back.

        • Lol true

I just found out that it's an 820M not 840m too

  • Anyone with the code CVIP24H and can help me out buying a couple of stuffs from DSE Sale today as its a 1 day sale with DSE. Fuming that I did not get the ebay Code. Items can be added to cart from various sellers and this coupon can be used.

Just want to buy a Logitech G302 Mouse + Logitecg G105 Keyboard, will do a Click and Collect via DSE ebay, so should be an easy process. So if a kind soul is ordering some stuff and not hitting the max discount limit, drop me a PM :) I am from Melbourne if it matters :P

    • The g302 is cheaper at pccasegear, with or without shipping.

  • Are Kogan reliable to deal with on eBay? They have pretty good prices for phones.

Could someone please help me decide? I don't know too much about these phones but they are sort of within my ballpark, sub $500.

    Sony Z3
    Samsung S5
    HTC one m8
    LG G3

I currently have a nexus 4. It's been giving me some trouble lately.

    I am concerned about:
    * memory space (ideally 32gb, but I don't know if this exists or is within my price range)
    * battery life
    * speed (can't stand bloatware but I don't know how to do anything about it)
    * camera

    Appreciate anyone's ideas.

    • +2

If you have got the VIP code, just go for the Note 4 from Good Guys. Kogan is not worth the hassles and issues in case you have any issues with the phone. For an extra $115 you are getting a Note 4, 2 year local warranty and you can have the phone right away today in your hands.

Note 4 build quality is excellent and is probably one of the better phones Samsung made in last couple of years. Must buy for $615 and way better than S5.

      • what is the link for note 4? anyone have code which is working for note 4?

    • +1

If you aren't going to flash a custom rom, don't bother with Samsung.

HTC One m8 seems like the best pick of the bunch there.
      - Very similar to the m9 in terms of design and operating system.
      - Has micro sd expansion upto 128gb.
      - Battery life is fairly good.
      - Very fast and fluid operating system.
      - Camera is it's weakness but not bad for everyday shots.

LG G3 has a dull screen, average battery life and is about to be outdated.
Sony Z3 still has some glass cracking issues and the glass back is annoying.
Samsung Galaxy s5 is full of Touchwiz bloat, average design and is not updated to the latest OS very fast.
Samsung Note 4 as above. Will be great for the first year and then will slow down and not receive updates.

      • People always criticise the camera on the One M8, but my Lumia 930 (which is supposedly one of the best camera phones) seems to mostly come out worse than my One M8. The One M8 has a common issue with the lens, and if you don't keep the lens clean then pictures will come out awful.

        • How hard is that to do vs the nexus 4? I've got a ringke phone protector and haven't had to be too careful with the lens yet.

      • lmao

it should be rephrased as m9 is very similar to m8. saying m8 similar to m9 is same as saying "this dad looks very similar to his son"

g3's screen is brilliant, but battery life is very average, much much much shorter than g2. is it about to be outdated? yes, thats for sure like any other phones. but m8 is already outdated by m9.

both s5 and n4 are great phones. touchwiz bloat? it really depends the user's preference. i don think they are worse than any other flagship phones of other brands, except googles nexus. that said, i am not a fan of samsung's phone.

  • Any advice for note 4 edge with good price?

    • Dick Smith has them, if you can manage to get the code working today then it'll be about $680.

    • +2

Last time I checked, The Good Guys had some really good prices on the note 4

  • +3

dicksmith increased their price for both samsung tablets 10.5 and 8.4"

    F*** YOU DS!!!!

    • Try GoodGuys

  • would anyone know if these companies (ie kogan) would give us a tax receipt?
im looking to claim the tax refund from a phone when i leave the country in the next few weeks.

    • I'm pretty sure they are required to give you a receipt/invoice

      • +1

Yeah they usually attach them to the outside of the box in a sealed see through pocket so dont chuck the box until you see it

    • Kogan doesn't pay GST so you won't be able to claim GST back. Try DS and TGU.

      • thats interesting. coz they have an ABN number on their website. would have thought they would have to.

        • If it's a 'direct ship' item, their Australian store is just selling as an agent on behalf of their overseas company, so there is no GST for you to claim back.
Some of their items are shipped from local stocks and include GST, in which case you could claim it back when you travel. Check the individual listing and whether the price is shown as including gst when you check out.

    • You don't pay GST in Kogan.

    • If you're trying to claim back GST you need to buy from Aus retailer, not Kogan.

  • Epson eb-s18 svga projector is an alright buy
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Epson-EB-S18-SVGA-Projector-/2617…

    Sale+ discount = $360
    Price on website= $600

    • 800x600. no deal? Better off buying projectors from Dell Outlet.

      • +1

Its not the greatest, but resolution is less of an issue for projectors vs a tv. The projectors posted in the past around $800 that had 1080 HD used color wheels, which cause distortions for many people. This uses lcd, and I can tell you from experience how bright it is, which is going to be perfect for the less than ideal lighting a cheap projector is likely to be exposed to. For less than $400 its a massive deal if you can get it.
You make a good point about the dell projectors. If the prices are anything like the US store, its a very resonable price if your comfortable with used tech. I will say though Epson are pretty good with warranty, they replaced my unit with a new one on a relatively minor fault.

But I found a better one if you have the extra money
        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271752666336?referrer=swift-widge…
It has a res of 1280x800. HD stuff looks great, and its only $520 after everything. I have the previous model, and it definitely beats a cheap tv

        • If you want a projector, don't fluff about with the bottom of the range crap and look at the benq w1070, it's widely considered one of the better projectors out there for HT, and at around 1k it isn't going to break the bank.

  • Any good router for ADSL2+? current belkin really suks

    • Depends on your budget. Archer D7 is probably the most recommended one in last 6 months. Costs around $140~$150

  • Do you guys reckon fridges will be included, i.e. this;
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Westinghouse-WBB3700PA-370L-Botto…

    Many thanks!

    • +1

Yep, if it's listed under home appliances ( as your link is) it will be included, as long as it's from one of the vendors participating, which again your link is.

    • +2

Ye i bought a fridge from appliances online today with the code, great discount

      • the sale doesn't start until 8am tomorrow morning?

        • Started for everyone who got early access.

  • any good deals on s5 or s6?

    • As long as Kogan don't jack up the price I think an S5 should be a good price! I saw it was at 439 for the blue one with the 20% this afternoon.

  • Apologies if this has already been answered. I couldn't find the answer on a scan through the comments.

I've already used the VIP code earlier today, but I've just found some things from Dick Smith that I'd like, but they're on sale, ending at midnight.
Am I able to purchase these today (at the discount price), pay tomorrow and use the non-VIP discount code that starts tomorrow?

    • -3

Why the downvotes? I'm genuinely curious. Did I say something wrong?

    • I dont see why not but have never tried to apply coupon on transaction either buy it now or auction that i didnt pay at the same time

  • any good deals on MBP pro 13? Any others apart from Kogan?

    • Yea, looking for one too. Kogan sells older models for more than they are worth.

  • darn it….the dell inspiron 15 5000 series that was on sale a couple of days ago for $1099 is now back at full price at $1499..even at 20% ($1199.20), that is still more than the sale price of $1099…

anyone spot a good 15.6" 5th gen i7, 8gb ram, 4gb gfx card lappy (or something similar) bargain for tmrw?

  • Thanks OP, bough the note edge from dse, came up $686 delivered and plus some cashback as well.

    • more info on the cash back please, or did you mean cashreward?

      • yes cashreward, probably another $13 something.

    • i am super jealous as i cant use the vip code :(

      arrggghhhhhh

    • Why did you pay an extra $50 for the edge? I'm trying to decide whether to get the normal note or the edge, and I just don't understand the point of the edge (and wouldn't it break easily?). Assuming the prices are the same tomorrow of course.

Edit: looks like the edge is a one day sale, bleh. Still curious though, and there's always a chance the price stays the same.

      • +1

Mostly in it for the "task bar feature". Can switch between apps without having to press home all the time or use the horrible laggy, unorganised app switcher (specially when lollipop includes chrome tabs as cards in the app switcher). One you get muscle memory on where your favorite apps are, alt tabbing should feel as good as a windows machine.

Might give a little build wise with the curve and all, but imo it was alluring looking through the angled glass past the lcd panel. Gave it the "floating" feel that the z2/3 has

  • Hey guys, looking for a cheap 5.5inch (but would settle for 5inch if there wasnt a choice) android phone for the wife. Only want to spend between $100-$200 for it as she has a track record of dropping them often.
Was going to buy a chinese one (phone not wife :)) but if theres any decent ones during this sale I'd jump at it. Any one found any?

    • Mate defnitely buy the 2014 Moto G its great. It's a 5 inch phone that gets the latest android version faster than even some nexus phones. Good camera, good software, good build, good screen. Under $200 tomorrow!!! Best bargain in terms of smartphones!
      Review:
      http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2014/10/moto-g-2014-review-a-phone…

      • Thanks heaps. I think I may just stick with Chinese phone. For less than $125 im getting 2gb ram and 13mp camera. http://www.pandawill.com/maxon-mx-x3-smartphone-mtk6589t-qua…

Obviously its more of a gamble than going an Aussie retailer.

        • yeah that is a gamble and the software will likely not get updates so it isnt as future proof, unless you muck around with custom roms

        • @nathan-drake: Updates dont bother me too much. Wife will just be after a phone for social media that takes decent photos and videos.

        • +1

As long as you read up on reviews its not that bad. You want to be weary of the numbers; I'd bet that chinese phones use inferior camera lenses, so the MP doesn't count for as much.

        • I bought an oct core 5" chinese smartphone for about $80 recently and it was absolutely rubbish. The bundled android (4.2) was not stock at all and all the animations / apps really sucked. The phone was also terribly slow (way slower than the claims) and the touch was really unreliable. The camera was pretty much unusable. Just about the only good thing is the screen was very nice. I'm not saying the one you have linked is bad though (can't vouch for it) just I would be very reluctant to buy a Chinese phone again - my 2 year old nexus 4 completely blows it out of the water (but I guess that shouldn't be surprising)

        • @chiefbodge:
exactly why i suggest a moto g 2014. Software reigns king these days…specs dont mean that much any more! Also it helps to have a name brand that bears some semblance of responsibility for their products rather than some random new Chinese startup!

        • Buying a phone with less than 2GB of ram is just insane.

Go with a Redmi Note 4G. Great specs and Xiaomi release updates every Friday. Not even Google themselves can claim that.

        • @PainToad:
my mums 512MB ram phone runs fine on kitkat, occasional slowdown but im pretty flexible/dont worry about it too much, unlike others

        • +1

@nathan-drake: Went for the moto g 2014. Ended up being able to price-beat at officeworks for $172 :) had a quick flick through while installing some apps for the wife. Looks good so far! Thanks for the recommendation

        • @andyman1908:
no worries, she will be happy with it. It is the best entry point phone for newcomers to android IMO

PS if she does drop it, maybe buy a case with that bit of money you saved, I would suggest something like these that wont add much bulk:
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Genuine-RINGKE-Ultra-SLIM-hard-ba…

          or

If anyone is still with a CVIP24H ebay code. Just want to buy couple of things from Dicksmith (Click and Collect). I am sure the prices will change oversite as its a 1 day sale :(

  • erm. at the cbay checkout page when I enter the code in the "redemption code" area it says:
The coupon code can't be used for your purchase
This voucher code is not yet ready for use. Please try again later.

Im trying to get a moto g 2014 from good guys, is there a trick to get this cupon working?

    • on nvm,

This offer commences at 08:00 (AEST) on 29 March 2015 and ends at 23:59 (AEST) on 2 April 2015 (“Offer Period”).

holy shit everytime I read this I read it as "Starts Saturaday"

      • CVIP24H not working for you? Mind you, I doubt this offer will commence at 08:00 AEST. My money is on it starting at 07:00 AEST (or thereabouts).

  • I'm buying this Sunday.
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-UA65HU8500W-65-165cm-UHD-…
Hope the price stays the same.

    • It did and it's a great deal

I bought one two weeks ago and got price down to 3350 at Joyce Mayne so don't feel too bad. But that price is sweet

  • can anyone help me find any good laptop deals under $600?

  • Subbed

  • Please note that the CVIP24H code can only be used once. I just tried to buy something else and it won't apply the discount.

  • +1

    I found another projector http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EPSON-EB-W28-Projector-/271752666…

It was advertised under a different category. $800, down to $520 if you have a voucher. Brilliant price for a semi-hd projector
But only for the next couple of hours. From experience, the price goes up at 12pm pretty much on the dot

  • Can I add to cart tonight to lock in my price and pay tomorrow? Pretty sure this was done in previous sales.

  • +1

Iphone 6 from kogan worth the discount with potential warranty issues? Or should i just try the amway telstra discount plans?

After a new phone to replace my s3 (unhappy with gps from day one for all my samsung phones, compared to gf's iphones which just work)

    • -1

apple stuff is probably the safest thing to buy on kogan since apple's got that international 1 year warranty

    • +1

Yeah the gps was still pretty subpar on the S3 but i think it was still better than tying to use an apple iphone 3s and that horrible maps program. Now got a s5 and use gps daily for my work…. pretty dam good.

  • The Sony A7S on Kogan is $2500, ridiculous!

  • If only they had group deals tomorrow together with this coupon like last time.

    • This goes until tuesday right?

      • This goes until tuesday right?

Is it really that hard to read the first post? In fact the first line which says

"Start at 08:00 (AEST) on 29 March 2015 and ends at 23:59 (AEST) on 2 April 2015"

        The second is actually THURSDAY.
