    • It's prepaid, I have one I use as a GPS.

    • Maybe the staff member meant to say the 530 is 'locked' to Telstra?

    • Big W don't sell phones with contracts, they might have confused that with them being locked to Telstra.

      • You're wrong some Big W stores do sell contracted phones in store.

  • Picked one up early this morning about 8:40am in Coffs Harbour. They only received 2 units to sell, second one sold as I was standing getting served.

    • Thought it was Saturday for the phones.

      • Yes. That is quite the pickle

        • Ah… that may be why they had to override the system pricing when I bought mine. It was tagged on the shelf as $29 but not in the system.

  • Just picked up one. Decent phone for the price. Can't use anything but Telstra brand on it.

  • Now the huawei 550 looks expensive

    • huawei is much better with its options and it's easy to unlock…

Wanting to get 530 initially but HN Huawei $40 is a no brainer with $50 VF starter pack.

Mount Ommaney had about 8 of the 530's left mix of green and orange grabbed an orange to tide me over until the 640 dual sim is released

  • I got 2 from Bega store. They had about 5 left. Phone is not bad.

  • Im hoping the Windows 10 update for Lumia 530 later in the year adds support to remove navigation bar with a swipe, as its very annoying when watching movies and playing games etc presently. Apparantly other windows phones with screen navbar area support this and microsoft even states its possible to remove the bar with a swipe upwards on the 530 but it doesnt work and the feature is not in the settings.

  • No stock at 9AM Southland, Vic.

  • does anyone know if I go into the telstra store requesting a sim that will fit in this phone on my current plan + number, can I still keep the old SIM that fits in my galaxy SII?

    • It will be no good to you, can only have your number on one sim

I'd ask them for a blank sim for your Samsung so you can transfer it to that sim using the 24x7 app when you want to go back.

    • The 530 I just bought from this deal comes with a sim (includes $10 credit with 14 day expiry). You can port an old an old number to it, but that will mean your old plan is gone.

Im sure telstra could reissue you with a new sim for your existing plan (might be a charge??), but probably the easiest way to transfer your existing to the new phone is to just cut down your existing sim to micro sim size, its not hard and there are guides online as to how to do it.

Do you want to keep the old sim because of stored contacts or something?

      • Thanks for the replies, I've heard that telstra does give resized SIMs out for free, my main issue is that I was interesting in being able to switch back and forth between the two phones, eg. I can use one when at the beach (the one I care least about) and the other the rest of the time. It sounds like it might not be possible though?

edit - while keeping the same phone number

Only 1 number per sim, but you could get a sim adapter to size up the new micro sim to standard sim size and then swap them between both phones.

        • @Gravy: Oh, awesome!! Just did a quick ebay search and that definitely solves the issue. Will follow up with telstra about what would happen to my credit if I transferred to a micro-sim. I'll look around and make sure I get an adapter that's reliable. Thanks!

@KutchAu: nothing should happen to your existing plan…they might even resize the SIM by using a device similar to a hole puncher that will just trim the card down, as opposed to giving you a new SIM card.

Pretty sure that's what happened about four or five years ago when I moved to a micro sim.

        • +1

@KutchAu: No worries… they are only about a dollar or two on ebay so fairly cheap solution.

        • By the way, the Galaxy S2 is a better phone than the Lumia 530 in most ways aside from screen resolution, but the 530 is practically the same res anyway once you take the onscreen navbar into account (which cant be hidden presently, hopefully with windows 10 maybe)

  • There looked to be a dozen or so at Gunghalin this morning, all in black/grey

  • got 2-3 stock of Nokia 530 at Woden ACT around 12pm

  • (Meanwhile at Big W Casuarina, NT. LOL!) Put on hold for 1 Grey & Orange Lumia cause I didn't bring any ID with me. They seem to have several ones in stock but I was to shy to ask. Gonna come back to grab mine in 30 mins!

BTW, shoud I buy some more and then sell them on Gumtree or eBay? Don't want to be greedy, but…but…

The telstra conditions on the box states only 1 per customer, although that would depend on staff member I guess.

      • Thanks for your info. I ain't gonna buy more anyway. Feel guilty if I do!

  • Apparently Waverley Gardens Big W let one person buy 20. Got mine from Endeavour Hills where the guy didn't let someone buy 20 so there was still stock in the mid afternoon.

  • Be careful with the Pepsi, make sure you check the dates.
My local Big W had short dated stock, I bought one case and it tastes expired already even though there's 6 weeks left.
Pepsi Max connoisseurs will know what I'm talking about.

Better off getting it from Woolies, same price and best before 9/15
