Need a Cheap Wireless Printer

Hi guys, exam is coming up and i need to print a lot of stuff as this exam is an open book one. It's a hassle taking the laptop to the lounge everytime and connect it to the printer. Plus the laptop battery is in dire condition. By the time I take it to the printer it dies. Where can I buy a cheap wireless printer? To be precise is there a cheap one (around $50) available anywhere?

mono laser. wouldnt think there is anything WAN around the $50 mark, maybe check gumtree. or if you have a airport express lying around, you can use that with your printer.

Doesn't have to be wireless.. Just connect it up to your Modem/Router.

I bought a basic Brother black and white laser printer. It cost me just under $40 from a special at the time (was on discount and I got it price matched). It doesn't have wifi capabilities, however I connected it to my router (Netgear WNDR3800) by USB and it works from all PCs/laptops at home as well as through iPhone printing apps.

Honestly - it is the best printer I have owned. Cheap generic ink from eBay that lasts forever, plus it just works without needed random drivers/programs cluttering up my PC.

I decided to go very basic (black and white only and no other functions) however if I was buying again I would buy one with the option to print double sided, as it is a bit of a pain to do manually.

Anyway - go with a B&W laser and you can't go wrong!!

  • This might be the cheapest you can get

What is your current printer? Can you plug it into your wireless router and make your current printer wireless?

  • why is the printer in the lounge if there isn't a computer there that you can use with it? why cant you plug your laptop into the same wall outlet that the printer uses when you need to do some printing?

this seems like a rather contrived problem to me.

not all routers (especially cheap ones) support USB printer sharing (although I recognise that the OP's printer might have Ethernet).

the cheapest wireless laser printer is around $100 for a Fuji Xerox model, I tend to find FX printers also have very cheap aftermarket toner available on ebay (its what keeps my parents' CM215FW going!)

  • My printer is Brother 165C.
