  • do people usually flock in at these deals ie. long queues, etc?

I'm keen to go get one but have got an appointment to go to and won't have too much time to spare inside the store during those hours.

    • +5

There'll be queue, but last time I went for this BOGOF deal, they have prepared and activated lots of iTunes card, so the waiting time was not long.

      • thanks mate, I'll try to pop in and will miss it if the queue looks like its going to take a while.

    • Yes. Their last $20 BOGOF I had to wait in line for 20 minutes because they ran out of the cards and had to print them all out.

Big W has 2x30 for $45 on Sat all day.

  • How do they make sure 1 per household? Like a brother and sister line up behind each others how do they know etc.

    • +2

Means any kids of yours who not old to communicate are not eligible to buy their own itunes card.

      • They're onto me! (This is what I did last time with my 4 daughters…)

  • +1

    anyone can confirm this deal?
that website says "This Connection is Untrusted: itunesonsale.com.au uses an invalid security certificate."
can't find any information on HN website

  • this maybe targeted for specific stores…..

  • +7

I expect there might be a rush on these given Netflix allows iTunes billing.

    • +2

That's what I want them for. Half price iTunes, Netflix 2 screen plan shared with another household = Netflix for $3 per month - the ultimate tightarse Netflix deal!

    • +1

I think the only way to do this is through Apple TV.

  • Can someone confirm this is national deal? Officeworks can price match this and also will only do it on the same time frame.

  • "Sorry, the machine is broken".

  • couldn't find this advertised on their website so spoke to them with the interactive chat thing on the bottom left, and they weren't very helpful. I've provided a transcript below. I suggest we all contact them and inquire about this deal because the fact that they have no official word on this yet it's being advertised is a bit off putting.

Hello Richard. How may I help you?
    Richard

    just confirming this!
    Trevor
Hi Richard, unfortunately at this stage we cannot confirm this, as we dont have any information with items will be on special tomorrow , best to check the website on thursday
    Richard

ah, just saw this advert on ozbargain, thought it would be legit.
    Trevor
We cannot confirm it at this stage
    Richard
ok… just strange that its being advertised
unless that's not a legit screen capture of one?
    Trevor
I am really sorry as as mentioned i cannot confirm it, best to check on Thursday
    Richard
erm… sure, bit cryptic and weird that that's your official policy tho
    Trevor
Okay, Am I able to assist you with anything else?
    Richard
    not really.
    Trevor
    Okay, have a great time

Look in the OP. I have linked the advertisement from the morning newspapers. You wasted a lot of time for nothing.

      • i know right, that's why its so off putting that they can't confirm it online, I just wanted to see if was nationwide and get proof of it to get the office works price beat since there's one directly next to my harvey norman : (.

PS, took less than 2 mins to chat with them for your info = ).

        • Even if you walked in to a store and asked I'm sure half the people wouldn't have an idea. It would be nationwide.

        • @unity1: Cool, although I really don't see why you're so adverse to me checking online.

I'm mainly concerned about whether or not office works would accept an oz bargain screen grab of an advertisement as proof of a nationwide sale, in past experience they prefer to go to the website or catalog to get that information, and although I'm sure things may be clearer tomorrow when the sale goes live, the fact that I'm unable to bring up that advertisement through official channels right now is off putting to me since I was going to confirm with office works today about whether or not they can honor a price match/beat by showing them the advertisement.

So with that explanation, I hope it clears up whatever personal concerns you have with the fact that I've spoken to a representative of harvey norman online (it must be personal because I have no idea why you responded so passive aggressively about how I've wasted 2 minutes of my time). Ironically, what's really wasting my time is entertaining you, so good day to you sir.

        • @humangosu: if you want the official advertisement it is in today's herald sun. Probably will be there tomorrow too. Good chance there will be an advertisement on the HN website as well even though it's an in store promotion. No need to worry. Hardest part will be getting OW to honour the price match.

I had no issue with you contacting HN online. I'm just mentioning they are hopeless and you will generally find much more helpful people and information on this website than what you will get from HNs official support channels. No hard feelings.

"in store only" .. thanks for closing the Belmont store.

  • +1

Last time it was "in-store only" I was able to complete the purchase online and then pick up, avoiding the ridiculous queues. Fingers crossed that works otherwise it's an evening lost…

    • Cancel that. A day early.

  • Thanks OP.

  • +1

Officeworks won't price match btw, they consider it a bundle deal, not a price difference

    • +1

Probably depends on the staff/store. I've managed to price match BOGOF's before

      • +1

Then you were very lucky or the staff member was a noob. BOGOF clearly not meets price matching criteria.

        • Did it before, depend on the staff/store manager

        • @hanofee: as I said, you were lucky because you were served by a noob, every store has some sort of noob or don't give a crap type of attitude, and they just do whatever the customer want. Even some guys managed to price match against Kogan's grey import, would you still say it's applicable to everyone?

    • -1

Depends on store really, all comes back to duty manager, but price matching and beating it by 5% shouldn't be a problem as confirmed at my local store, sorry can't say location, it's gonna cause everyone problems as most are reluctant to do this.

  • 1 per household you say? What if I own 10 houses?

    • +1

household, different to house, in your case then you'd have to produce 10 different sorts of document to prove you're resident to each of these households.

  • Anyways to get around the 1 per house hold rule

    • Another person?
      A fake disguise?

    • wear masks?

    • +4

Grow a beard before you go.
      Buy some cards.
      Go try a razor in-store.
      Line up again clean shaven.

      • or just find out where nicholas cage/john travolta did their thing

  • Was hoping they would list it on their online store to buy. They have listed it, but it points to their store locator.

Should we liveblog? Massive queue in store already!

  • Lol all your base is belong to us. No point queuing

  • Managed to get some in Springvale. Wasn't super busy.

  • No queue, walked in and got one easily.

  • What queue?

$28.50 for 2 at Officeworks price match using the link at top of post.

    • +2
      • Wouldn't do it for me as "the system wouldn't process it for that price".

    • +2

Can do one better. Drove to nearby office works and they gave me bogof - 2 for current sale price of $25
      Thanks for the tip

      • Ultimate ozbargainer status achieved! Nice one! I can't be disappointed with 52.5% off but 58.33% is a great deal!

    • Next time I'll have to do this. I went to the Ballarat store and they are processing about one person every 4-5 mins as they are taking down customers details. Poor people at the back of the line may not make it before 7.
They also didn't have any card pre-activated unlike previous BOGOF sales.
I asked the assistant about the policy to get details and he said it is set by Apple and it's promotions. WTF?

      • You're lucky, my local Hardly normal isn't even open.

  • Nunawading, a decent line, hats off to them though for having them all pre-activated with codes stapled to them before you got to the front. No taking down of names though

    • Were you there? I was tempted to ask the folks there if they were from OzB. :P

      • Yeh got there around 5.45 and they still had the itunes stand out and got my 2 from there… shortly after the stand disappeared and thats when the line began.

        • Lucky you. I was there ~45 mins. :(

  • 15+ people in the queue at Oxley HN, plenty of physical cards available :)

    • Similar story for Adelaide city. About 15 people in the queue at 6pm. There were plenty of cards available.
One of the staff asked who wanted cards and everyone responded…

  • went to OW at Nerang this afternoon to check on price matching, manager came out and advised she would NOT price match anything to do with HN or iTunes as there is not enough margin in the sale and advised i go get bit at HN

  • Thanks OP got 2 at HN Taren Point NSW at 18:10. Only 3 in front of me.Unlike the last time today cards were not activated and the girls were running from one counter to the other to activate/process payment etc.Not very well organised but 10 minutes for $30 is not bad at all :)

  • Wound up queuing for 35 minutes (!) but came prepared with my DS. Saved $30 by playing my game in a queue instead of on my couch. Pretty happy thanks OP.

    • +1

You can vote + now :)

  • I wonder which stores had massive queues. I just went to the whatever HN closest to me at the time (at Parramatta Rd, I think there are three stores around that area), there's a line of probably 10-12 people and progressed pretty quickly and it pretty much cleared out after that.

  • There was no queue at the Coburg, VIC HN and they knew about the deal. There was an officeworks next door, I regret not even attempting to get them to beat the price.

  • No queue at Malaga WA cards were pre-activated. In and out in minutes.
