Embark Wheeled Backpack $29.99 - 50% off at Ray's Outdoors

40

Was looking at a wheeled backpack for the schoolkids and couldn't find one back in January for a decent price.
Rays is having a big sale at the moment and browsing through I saw this and thought it looked like a decent deal.

I was going to buy two of these, untill i read the reviews…

"We purchased this item in the middle of September. By Oct 8, the back seams have ripped open and the handle broke. We have since replaced it but went with another brand. Not worth the $ spent."

CHEAP and poorly made!!! Extremely LOUD when rolling across ground. Falls over if not loaded with items. Loved the small 16" size.

"I know my 4th grade boy is hard on his stuff, so I anticipated having to buy at least one or two backpacks each year. But he had never had a rolling backpack before. When the first one broke (telescoping handle came apart) after a couple months of use, I didn't think anything about it. We went back and bought another one, and the second one's handle broke within a couple of weeks. I don't think my son was doing anything except hauling books back and forth to school. I'm not buying this backpack again."

They were $19 last time. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117486

Do you want your kids to get beaten up? Because that's how your kids get beaten up.

    • +2

Is that what happened to you?

    • I never thought about this… But you're actually right. Adults using that would be fine. Kids using it would be seen as derpy by other kids.

    • Sadly true, I was/am that kid. Most common remark I get is "this ain't the airport".

  • Do kids really have that much equipment/weight to necessitate a rolling backpack?

    • Yes for sure ..my son's school bag is heavy enough..no lockers so they have to carry it all day and now throw in a 15" laptop … perfect for the kids.
