  • Good printer (I bought it from Aldi), both scan and B&W printing are clear/sharp. Wifi works well too.

Overall, I am very satisfied with it.

I have recommended this printer to my in-laws.

  • In previous posts there were many questions about auto duplex feature.
I called up fujixerox and the lady said m255z has auto duplex for printing only.
    Anyone confirm or deny this?

    • +1

I haven't checked with my printer, but I am pretty sure (99.99%) that the scanner won't have duplex, and you have the duplex for the printing.

      • Thank you

        • Have the printer. Printing is duplex, ADF is single sided only.

        • @Myths:

but it still does auto duplex copying right? as in single sided but 2 passes with auto feeding?

        • @CVonV:
when I called fuji I was advised duplex function was for printing only. Scanning or faxing etc was manual duplex.

        • @mrtin:

then wtf does "Auto Duplex Copy" mean in the specs lol? print the same page on both sides??

gosh i really should open mine and set it up. but if you have tested it yourself then i believe you.

        • @CVonV:
lol wtf. I want to buy one but I need adf for scanning (not just printing). I called up fuji to confirm and thats what they told me

        • Auto Duplex copy for them means ….

you scan 2 single side —> prints on a double sided sheet.

edit: the ADF will not scan both sides in one pass …. have to do it manually / via the flatbed

        • @Myths:

that's like semi-auto then -_- i would assume that auto in this case means it will scan the other side by automatically re-feeding it (much like how auto-duplex printing works) and then scanning.. not a single-pass double sided scanner

so.. if you had a 2-sided document, you have to feed it twice (manually by flipping it over on the second scan time)

ugh i'll just install this pos tonight lol

Anyone used these on the Ethernet port?
Purchased a couple for work a couple of years back (from different retailers) and had endless amounts of problems with network reliability. In the end had to result to Ethernet to USB print server boxes.

    • Working fine over the Wifi, I don't see why it wouldn't work with Ethernet. Disclaimer: I haven't tried with Ethernet.

    • I have this printer connected via Ethernet port, working fine except for one thing: that I can't get one old XP PC working with it. Win8 PCs are fine.
The XP PC can print a test page each time the driver is installed, but it does not print anything afterwards. :(

      • Ethernet via DHCP works fine on Win 8.1 PCs. Have not bothered or tried setting staticIP for the printer yet. Just be aware, IP may change on router reboot and the printer network port under printer settings / preferences in windows may need to be manually changed.

  • Tried to download linux driver for it. Does not work for me on ubuntu. The .deb is corrupted :(

      Follow these instructions:

      http://thebigbyte.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/linux-printer-driv…

Basically open with an archive extractor, keep going in until you find the .ppd file. Then when installing the printer through the printer wizard point it to the .ppd and it will work. I just did this yesterday with a Linux Mint 17.1 install and it worked great.

      • thanks. That's more promising. They might have messed up the .deb, but the drive may still work. I don't have the printer to test though….however, you give hope.

However, there might be an easier way.

I just scanned the ubuntu repository for my Docuprint p205b, and lo and behold, the driver was found automatically.

I just did Add printer + Selected the printer + hit Forward + Select Printer from database+ Slected Fuji Xerox (recommended) and voila. It printed the test page for the first time for me from p205b using ubuntu.

  • not an airprint enabled printer though but a good workhorse machine for the past 2 years

    • Do you have it connected with wireless or usb/ethernet?

Wireless is hit and miss in these machines due to it being 802.11g only.

      • +1

i have it on wireless. 9 out of 10 times it hooks on without issues at startup. when it doesnt i just reboot it and it usually hooks up subsequently. if not you just need to manually reset and choose the router config on the printer again. once it hooks on to the wifi, at least it doesn't lose the connection.

it will still work with Apple with Printer Pro app. Just wont pick up on airprint.

      • it has its own ios app which i use and that works well. just not as seamless as if via airprint integrated with most of the ios apps.

        • true but 'printer pro' app has integration via its own icon so its quite seemless all the same.

        • which iso app is that?

        • @ddhytz:
search appstore for fujixerox (free) or for printer pro (paid)

        • @allmails888:
          Cool. Thanks!

edit: looks a lot better than the previous model. Is smart, not "host based".

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/192631

    • updated OP to show differences

    • Now I'm confused. This brochure posted by marka says the 255z is the same as the DW except for fax:

      http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/downloads/uploaded/DocuP…

Two models with same name? I've seen that before with things like modems and webcams - totally different guts in new version, but same model code.

      • +2

M225z is the fax version of the M225dw

        M255z is OP :P

but yeah understandable with the similarity

        • +1

Thanks :-) Was more confused than I thought. I have to start getting more sleep.

        • @manic:

Me too! When I was typing up the OP table, I had typed "M225z" even though I was looking at the M225dw's specs -_-

        • Do these two printers use the same toner?

        • @ddhytz:

          M225z + M225dw have the same toner

          M255z different

  • So in summary, is it a deal or a piece of crap?

    • i wouldn't post it if i didn't think it was a deal :)
