  • Hyderabad, India Return Per $468 @WTF

Is that a good place for a family holiday Rep ?

    • +1
      • Umm are you sure about that?
"My biggest issue was the pool- it is not heated! i like having a swim in the morning before work, but the pool was freezing and not enjoyable at all - i braved it once but couldnt bring myself to do it again - very disappointing as the pool itself is lovely.
Apart from that the other issues i had were
        - wifi not included.. huh? This is 2015 not 2005- charging for wifi is like charging someone for a tv in their room! I hate it! I would prefer to be paying a higher room rate and get free wifi otherwise i feel the hotel is just trying to be cheap
        - Blind shear didnt go down to the bottom so when the sun came up it started to let light into the room
        - I had a room facing the main road and was awoken around 5 am every morning to the lovely sounds of car horns! They need to double glaze the windows"

Depends on when you are planning to go and what you want to do. If you like history, culture and Indian food Hyderabad is the right place to visit. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in some resort then go somewhere else. And definitely don't go there between now and July. It will be damn hot.

Do they have Telstra call centre in Hyderabad. I thought it's in Mumbai. Btw if your sarcasm is about the poor English skills of their call centre staff then probably you spoke to their Perth call centre. At least that's what Telstra's CEO said :)

        • If you have been to Universal Studios or similar theme parks then Ramoji film city is nothing. It's just a big studio with some sets and some shows. But definitely one of the biggest studios in the world.

        • @dealsfinder:

Do they have wax figures of Tania Zaetta and Brett Lee ?

        • Hyderabad has the world's largest IMAX theater and it would cost only 1/6th (~$5) of what you pay in Australia :-)

Also you get authentic Dum Biriyani..

I worked in Hyderabad for a month. It's not a holiday location. It's a city mainly revolving around off-shored resourcing. There are a few sights of historical significance. But only a handful. Certainly not worth a dedicated trip for. Unless you are there for business then that's a different story. The area surrounding Hyderabad also doesn't have much in terms of sight seeing.

  • No deals from Adelaide ??

    • AirAsia does not fly out of Adelaide, so your best bet is to get a flight to Perth & then use one of the posted deals.

If you need any dental treatment/major surgery, cheaper to do it from there even if you have a health/dental insurance in Aus. A tooth filling may cost unto 400 $, but over there it will cost you 500-1000 Rs, which about 10 - 20 $, with same materials used. Medical tourism is becoming very popular in India.

      Are you serious ???

but JV, you're smiling in the photo.

Yes, most of the Aussie residents visiting Asian/indian subcontinent plan their dental checkups and treatments during their visits. There are affordable treatment options for surgery like heart surgery, knee or hip replacement or various orthopedic treatments which cost a fortune in developed nations. Also, you get to see doctors trained well from US/UK have advanced knowledge and speak good English.

I find that very hard to believe.

Any links to prove your claim ?

        • comment deleted :-) wrong place!

I like the picture. As per my experience the dental treatment can only be20$ at a place like in the picture. Go to a nice reputed clinic n they will charge u about 100$ or more. Still cheaper than 400$ though.

    • a tooth replacement with highend tooths cost 8000rs($150aud) in a multi specialty hospital with a dental surgeon and no waiting period. highly recommend for medical tourism, well trained doctors and no waiting period, a lot cheaper than here

      • -2

As an ozbargainer I can see the argument for getting cheaper medical procedures overseas. But my body is one thing I don't want the cheapest deal on. I want the best possible practitioner and the best materials used. While I'm sure there are good doctors in India. I would argue that if they were that good they would be in the US, UK, Australia or pretty much anywhere else. Most Indian's I met in India didn't want to be there. Most were in fact working hard to get themselves and their families out of India.

That aside. What happens if the replacement tooth fails in some way? You'll likely have to get a replacement done at home. Dental work generally requires long term maintenance or at the very least check-ups. How do you think your local dentist will feel treating you knowing you've gone to someone else for these higher cost procedures?

For the sake of transparency. My wife is a dentist. I work in IT and as stated above I have worked in India.

        • if you have worked in india you know how the hospitals and doctors there would be, you dont need any other explanation.
