  • questionable if you have had a knee replacement or in need of one?

    • Hi Teddo
Most of the weight is onto shin bone and not on knee - but might still find it uncomfortable to use with knee replacement

  • designed by Jonny Ive?

I really wish Apply copyrighted the small 'i' infront of words. It's just getting ridiculous

The only problem I see with this, is the overwhelming urge to talk in a pirate voice. aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr

    • +3

I see the problem with a trailing injured foot, held up ready to knock into things or be knocked into. Guarantee it will not be pleasant.

Can you use two of these at the same time?

  • Is this a bargain? Free shipping itself does not make it a bargain.

No historical prices are mentioned, the cost of shipping is likely built into the purchase price.

  • Looks similar to what Harrison Ford used….. Star Wars Limited Edition incoming!???!
    Edit: http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.1875083!/img/htt… close enough :P

    • It is the exact same model! May the force be with you

  • This looks quite unsafe. One of the advantages of conventional crutches is being able to move the point in contact with the ground to achieve a better balance. This also places the trailing leg much higher and offset which would shift the centre of mass away from the body resulting in further instability.

Have these been tested and endorsed by any recognised healthcare agency?

    • Hi Rayve
Most people who use the iWALK report that it is much more stable that tradition crutches. You do need good balance and fair level of fitness to use it though. It is not for everyone - some people love it and some not.
The product has been fully researched see link http://iwalk-free.com/why-handsfree-crutch/crutch-clinical-t… & is a registered medical device with the TGA

"Fully researched" is quite the stretch.
Your cited research seems to be
        1. A single journal article published 8 years ago in a low impact publication, with no actual tabulated breakdown of results, no information to demonstrate that the two groups were not significantly different at baseline, some conflicting statements regarding randomisation, and little to no effort to assess even medium term outcomes (let alone long term outcomes).
        2. ?a student research project, not published in a peer reviewed journal
        3. ?another student project, not published in a peer reviewed journal
        4. Testimonials/opinion

        Buyer beware.

          Hi zorsT

As you would be aware research on most medical equipment is limited. It would be difficult to do randomisation on this type of equipment other the a outcome questionnaire from the clients. The equipment is usually only used for 6 weeks in most episodes and therefore long term outcomes would be difficult to attain.

This equipment is an alternative to crutches & knee scooters. Crutches & Knee scooters all these have risks in there use and potential to cause strain on other joints and a risk of falling. To my knowledge there is no quality research into the use of crutches or knee scooter.

This item is registered with the TGA & FDA
