  • hey OP is this suitable for outdoor installation? If not would you be able to recommend one? Need one for outdoor patio. thanks!

I bought some of these ones over a year ago for an outdoor setting. They seem to be working still, though I must admit I rarely turn them on. The light feature is handy at night though!

Have a look at your local Bunnings/Masters, they often have cheap models like these on clearance.

      • thanks!

    • Hi Lemoo.

While yes they will work well on a patio type area and a lot of customer have used them there, Mercator don't warrant them for use outsdie
Which means that should they fail they would not be covered by their in home warranty.

We do have a section on our website for outdoor fans.

However you will notice that they are quite a bit more expensive.

It depends on what you are looking for in a fan.

  • By 2x BC light kit I am assuming you mean it has a light in the middle of the fan as pictured and you can put 2 globes in of the batton connector variety? This is handy as I have 2 fans in my lounge with only a single screw connector each and there isn't enough light, and however the other issue is that the light is pointed mostly in one direction so there's a dark spot behind the connector side (as the connector is pointing sideways.

Not sure if I am up for the additional expense of changing them over though, and but it's nice to know they exist for the next time I am looking into fans (which won't be long)

Also are these a brushed stainless steel or aluminium or is it painted plastic?

    • Hi Jackson.

Yes you are right you can put in 2 of the Bayonet Cap type globes into this fan light.
The fan is made of Brushed Aluminium and the blades are Marine Plywood.

Had one of these installed 3 months ago . Works perfectly and is amazingly silent in comparison to some of the other fans i'v had installed. $99 is a pretty good price.
I suggest getting the remote for it as well, I picked up from bunnings from around $30(from memory).
