Disabling Notification Feature on Main Page

Is there a way to disable the notification feature — the bell icon that appears in the top bar of the menu bar — that tells me that I have unread messages etc? I'm subscribed to email alerts so rest assured I have already read them all, it's just a nuisance for me that I am forced to go click on the bell, check and read things a second time "just in case", and to reset the alerts to "all read" to blank it. Over and over all day for every message that comes in. I panic when I see little numbers over things, it just add to my list of things to do for the day.

Thanks.

Yes it is, so what? I still want a solution. Getting bombarded all day with duplicate or unwanted information is like junk mail or spam. Most people look for a solution to mitigate it.

I was hoping a mod could answer the question or put it on the suggestion list for improvements. I was only expecting a helpful response from some other subscriber if they read something that I missed when I searched the site for instructions and knew how to do it, or were following a thread they were interested in to educate themselves.

Problem noted. Possibly just a setting option to disable notification all together on OzBargain. It might get implemented in the next couple of weeks.

    • Thanks. Much appreciated. That was the sort of answer I was after.

A setting has been added to your settings page.

        Show notification bell

Turn that off and you'll not see the notification icon nor get any real-time notification on OzBargain.

        • Thank you very much, I now regain a little bit of my life and sanity back :)

It would be better if it reset itself when it recognised that you'd seen them.
