Can you bring people in? like friends or partners?

    • +3

      wonder about this as well
      anyone please

      • +2

Not really. You are meant to have a membership each or use a guest pass. Was successful 1 out of 2 times in shanghai but have never tried it in Melbourne ;)

        • Guest pass? Costs money I'm guessing? Pass.

        • +1

That's why I got another membership to use with my existing 3 year membership, without the first name - just the initial. That way I can invite any 1 friend.

        • +1

          @brucefromaustralia:

          No surname as well? :P

  • When they say on their website the opening time for Sat and Sun is 0 to 0..does it mean it opens 24 hours? Sounds unbelievable for business centres…

    • +2

The rooms you pay for are 24 hours. The free office space is usually business hours.

      • +2

Only for long term clients I was told. Requires entry by security pass to building & then separate entry to office. They don't give those out to casual renters.

If it's outside reception hours, it's shut to us. Believe me I've tried.

        • +1

Me too, got knocked back in melbourne last Sunday by security guard, which almost makes this pass useless to me, I work during business hours, really wanted somewhere to hang outside the 8-6 time slot

        • @clarky:
          It's a business centre, rather than a club ;-)

Most office buildings are shut tight outside of business hours & streets usually deserted. Even the coffee shops & cafes usually close.

So there wouldn't be much need for premium office space when you want it.

If they could make a profit by remaining open, like most businesses they would.

        • +1

@brucefromaustralia: mmm this was once said about gyms too but the 24/7 model works. Heavy business types work long hours and have second jobs. Basically I just want in like a club.

        • +1

          @clarky:
I heard your desire for a club.
          One day ;-)

    • +2

I think that means not open Saturdays & Sundays

  • "Memberships will be automatically renewed at the end of each term unless cancelled by the member in writing. Monthly memberships can be cancelled at anytime after 90 days by giving 90 days written notice on the 1st day of any calendar month thereafter."

Anyone have any experience with expiring membership/cancellations? If I forget about this 2 years down the track, will I be met by a $700 bill?

    • +1

Not if you don't provide payment information.. Which is not required to redeem your free membership

    • +1

I think those were the same questions asked in the 2013 deal.

No problems. No payment or requests to renew.

They still accept my expired membership card anyway.

  • +2

Last time I signed up to this, I got a follow-up email asking for my Diners Club number. The OP might want to add this in bold in the deal's detail section to avoid disappointment down the track.

    • Did they cancel your membership after you failed to provide then one?

      • I had one back then, so it was okay.

    • +1

Joined last year with the Dinersclub deal. Never was asked for anything. Still using that gold card.

      • hey bruce, is it ok to put initial instead a real first/last name in the application form? do they ask for driver license or passport to check your name?

        • That's what I just did. That way a male or female can use the card. Never been asked for ID, but could happen in some countries or if there is a security reason.

        • @brucefromaustralia:

          Could also use:
          Kim
          Morgan
          Alex
          Tailor
          Erin
          Sam
          Jamie
          Jude
          Jesse

        • @JoelWilliam:
Yes, thought of a few of those, but went with S, the initial of a few women friends. It is if ID is asked for.

But I do have my old card with a different membership number for a male visitor. But 2 Bruce's at a time is a bit much for anyone ;-)

If a female used my old card and was questioned - I'd comment, well the sex change really was a success, darling. There is little any one can say to that, in a professional environment ;-)

  • I've been waiting for another one of these deals to pop up! Thanks OP :)

  • +7

Time for Regus to face the wrath of OzBargainers.

    • +5

      Nekminnit Regus closed down

  • Thanks OP!!!

  • Ta. Anyone know any their Business Lounge located in Sydney? very happy to go there to find out how they like!

  • -3

What can you do with this just out of interest I'm sure I have heard of this nane maybe it was airport lounges is this for that? And how does that work or is this different

  • aaand joined. Thanks OP, my first Regus membership

  • +1

    Is there a dress code?

    • And you say you want to use the shower too :-)
A towel is not acceptable attire for a business lounge, otherwise no.

I am very casual, coming off the beach to the office with never a comment from staff over the year or so.

It depends on the office & it's layout. Most of the time no one sees me. I'm in the fairly concealing cubicle or the kitchen. There are few people at my regular office & staff know me.

But causing any disturbance in a business environment would be more of an issue.

  • +7

I have still got one of the cards from one of my first ozbargin deals that I used, think it was the deal back in 2013.Funny kind of story the first time I went to one of the offices in melbourne, the receptionist asked for my card. I produced it and she looked me up and down and asked "Is that your name" in a slightly disbelieving tone. I said yes thats me, I am from western Australia. Her reply was "Ok" and like a light switch she became friendly then showed me around.

I guess she could sense my ripoff bali designer casual clothing or maybe us weststraylins are a little too casual for her likes. But every time I have used it in Australia or USA I have had no problems even though it was meant to be only for 1 year.

    • +9

      Great story.

    • Expires 2072 according to the office I use. Still accepting the 1 year membership card from 2013.

  • +5

So in response to jdogg's dress code question. There is am implied dress code most expect you to wear business or very business orientated casual clothing. Don't be like one of my mates and wear official bright red Holden branded clothing (Cap,Shirt,Shorts, Watch, Socks) to breakfast in a 5 star hotel in Hong Kong. I could tell most of the people there were thinking "Whos that D@#k Head" I know we did, and that morning he got forced to by a new appropriate wardrobe, much to his displeasure.

    • +6

No dress code - I asked.

Of course fitting in is a different matter. Standards vary with office, location & group that office caters to. I use one with a predominately fly-in fly-out mining / engineering crowd. Certainly don't see too many ties but usually plenty of beer in the fridge.

The office a block away is totally different being corporate types, with different dress standards. Too much marble & pretence for my liking. I've only gone there when my office was being renovated. I missed the wonderful view from the window & the less formal greetings from the staff at my office. They even check there is hot chocolate for me when I arrive ;-)

It often how you interact with people, rather than superficial dress, that governs the social interaction / acceptance. I've had high fliers and a Minister of Government as clients, in my old office & socially. Dress never entered into it.

So find an office that suits your style. I come off the beach in shorts & t-shirt, arrive by ferry, and enjoy my office. But if I'm visiting a different office, well I dress up first time & see what it's like.

      • I'm going to wear an OzBargain tshirt then ;)

        • +2

I think you will need to find a very special office to fit in wearing that ;-)
(Please not mine in Brissie. Please not mine.)

        • +2

Please wait 21 days until we all get our membership cards

        • @chill:
Membership starts the moment the email arrives with your membership number. Just show the email & you're in.
          (But don't tell jdogg that.)

        • +1

          @brucefromaustralia:
I'll be wearing this bruce so be on the lookout ;)

      • I take it the formal one you refer to is Central Plaza? Yeah, we have a dress code. Pretty strict too (though I have once or twice wandered in on the edge of it)

        • Yes. As I was a refugee from the renovations at Riverside (before Christmas), they let me off with wearing my shorts.

As with other social norms, if you contravene the usually unwritten dress standards, generally no one says anything, but you are meant to feel the 'vibe'.

[I'm a non-conformist / sometimes contrarian. Even in the old days when the Queensland Government stationed Special Branch (political) Police outside my front door to make me conform / ostacise me, I'd just take them cups of tea :-) They had no answer for that.]

Staff didn't seem as warm & welcoming, but they don't know me there. The kitchen was hard to find first time, and was like a dungeon. Riverside kitchen is very light & open, with a view down Elizabeth St with historic trees. And the Central Plaza view isn't pretty - buildings & rooftops.

I couldn't even work out how to use the lifts - order your floor from outside the lift.

While there are similarities between offices, there can be great differences.

  • -2

    Doesn't work anymore :(
    Invalid code

    • +1

It works mate, you just have to enter the code and hit 'validate' before you can submit your personal details :)

  • -4

    Haha yay free accommodation!!

    • Did the code work for you?

      • Yep it did

        • It's showing:
Invalid promotion entered / promotion cannot be applied to this product / promotion expired.

Hmm which link did you click?

        • @bubbleo00: The link up the top (from this deal)
          then type in the code
          then press validate
then type in all your details below
          then press submit
          then done.

    • +2

I think they close after normal business hours because there's no one at reception.
Unless you hide under the desks.
Then you can have all the free Nespresso coffees, and left over cake for dinner, supper, and breakfast.

  • +3

for some reason i was thinking airport lounge lol

    • I initially thought that too from the title.. that would arguably be an even better deal.

    • CBD locations in major cities around the world. They're renting office & meeting space, often for years to same clients. Airport business lounges are very short term relax, eat, catch up on a bit of work spaces, usually associated with airlines.

  • Not really sure what this means.
One of the locations I clicked on says:
    Reception
    Mon-Fri 08:30 - 18:00
    Sat/Sun Closed

But under the amenities tab it says "24 hour access".

So can I get in anytime mon-fri?

    • +3

Some long term clients have after hours access - they're paying for that. But we have to stick to the business hours.

  • Does anyone know if it works in airport lounges. Couldn't manage to search countries other than AUS. Noticed all Melbourne ones are in CBD offices

    • +2

It's an office rental business, centred on CBD office locations. Many clients are have overflow offices near their corporate offices, often for independent teams. Others are for long term clients who want an office for a few days a week. Others use the offices for meetings, or an office when in a different city.

Airport lounges are a very different business model.

      • Understand this however read the description on the site:

Locations in major cities, business parks, airports and transport centres

Thus why I asked the question if anyone saw any airports on the list.

        • It's also in the deal description above, copied from the site.

Yes, they probably exist somewhere, but I've never come across one & staff were unaware. The format would likely be different to airline lounges. Try searching.

  • Looks who's invited to an office Christmas party THIS YEAR HUH BOB >:D

  • So, any way to get this deal without having a Diners Club card?

  • Thanks OP! This is a great deal and perfect for business when travelling.

    • yeah, for merely "business" purposes.

      • +2

I suppose you could say… "what I do there is my business"… so it's "business" after all. :)

  • +2

Is there any offices with 24 hour access?

    • The ones I know of are for long term clients renting certain offices. They have a different access, not through reception, to a different group of offices.

Many offices are listed as 24 hour access, but for us, you need to find one with reception open 24 hours. Happy searching.

  • one of my local gym have a gym. Do i need to pay more to access the gym?

    • +26

one of my local gym have a gym

If your local gym doesn't have a gym, i'd never join to that gym.

      • lol i meant my local regus…

        • +1

ask staff at your local regus

        • +1

@legelas: if they have a regus?

    • +1

forrest centre? likely requires additional payment, as with parking and photocopying facilities, or so i've learned

      • +2

Yes, generally everything except the cubicle, coffee etc, WiFi, reading newspapers, using the 1 computer, watching Sky - costs.
Looking at great views out the office window - priceless.

    • +1

If you find out, let us all know, it is in my weekly comute

  • I come from a family of people with online businesses, so this will be very handy! Thank you so much OP.

    • +1

      Hello Mr Teoh!

  • You can register your email address after confirming the membership.
After 2 years is up, will you get invoice? In the member login area, there are payment and invoices sections.
    Just wondering…

    • +2

As discussed earlier, it hasn't happened in previous memberships, they don't have anything to bill, never received any follow up or contact except to give feedback on the office. No problems, just free coffee, newspapers to read, WiFi & a cubicle to sit at.

  • for the offices with secure parking, is this free or is it another thing you have to pay for? if it's free, my car could just use it as its workspace while i trundle around town for a couple of hours ;)

    • +2

Once again to this type of question - what do you think? Is it listed in the benefits of membership? If not, no. And some listed above (printing etc) are not free.

It's an office rental business offering these free offers to get you to spend money. (I've never spent a cent, but enjoyed the facilities with no hassles. Treated as any other paying client.)

It's just saying parking is available on site - usually run by a commercial operator at a high price.

You can ask the staff when they show you around or ring the office of your choice. Most are located close to public transport - I take a leisurely ferry ride to my office. Given what you are getting for free, it's a great deal.

      • -6

well i'm new to this sort of scene so i'm not entirely clued in to what's free/not free.

and depending on what parking on-site costs, it may even be somewhat decent value considering how hard it is to get a spot in CBD areas, more so for undercover parking.

        • +1

Parking spots for casual parking would be no different to any other parking station in the CBD. That is hard to find & expensive.

Don't worry, I didn't neg you. But you were expecting a bit too much from a freebie. If parking was free, people would happily pay far more than the full price of this deal for Mon-Fri free parking. Good to be curious, but best to think first.

Regus site lists all facilities at the site of the office. Some like 24 hour access are only available to long term paying clients. Some are facilities like parking that are available on the site, payable to an outside business. Best to check with the office concerned.

        • +4

@brucefromaustralia: i wouldn't care even if you did…i don't shy away from supposedly "stupid" questions :) after all asking if something is free or not isn't exactly the same as expecting it

        • @tdw:
I think your enthusiasm for your plans of what you would do with your free parking showed a bit of expectation. But I would do the same, if I could find a free park.

Office space (even if you own or rent it) does not usually include car park space. It is usually a large additional expense.

        • +2

@brucefromaustralia: i'm an ozbargainer, it's natural to be enthusiastic about free stuff! (and i'm always looking to expand my list of free car parks)

the only expectations i have that those who offer said freebie hold up their end and not shift goalposts or make excuses when someone legitimately tries to claim it (obviously not the case here, but with other freebies)

        • +1

          @tdw:
As an example it costs $23 for less than 1 hour parking at the Riverside Centre, Brisbane, downstairs from the Regus office, operated by Wilson Parking.

10 x 3 hour parks cost the same as the full price of this deal over 2 years. Other cities will be much dearer. So you might understand why parking isn't free in this deal.

Parking is listed as available (at a price), but that price is why I don't park in the building when I visit that office :-(

You often can Google parking rates based on the Regus office location or building name.

        • +1

          @brucefromaustralia:

Carparks are also available from Regus if you're an office holder. I can get one for $100 a month on top of my office rental.

        • @Kyanar:
(Paid) membership, plus office rental - has its privileges.
Here, some expect it free :-(

    • +2

Your car has free wifi and a coffee machine? Mad pimpin'

      • +2

yep…fancy some 5w30 fully synthetic coffee?

  • Anyone else get this?
