  • btw anyone know on how to save this offer on several amex cards? every time I try to 'enrol now' through amex connect (bank-issued cards), it will bring me back to original amex website (amex-issued cards). so, I can only get the offer for one card only.

    • +2

add cards to your amexconnect account via the drop-down menu then switch between them to save/register offers :)

      • no luck:( tried to add bank-issued cards through amex site also can't do the trick.
with drop down menu in amexconnect can't find the link to add new card. (your drop down menu is DIFFERENT from mine. how come? what's your url?)
and same thing, click 'enrol now' from amexconnect, then it will open my amex-issued account.

        • Maybe try deleting your cookies or use a different browser?

        • or maybe have a different amexconnect account for bank-issued cards vs amex-issued?

(your drop down menu is DIFFERENT from mine. how come? what's your url?)

it's an amexconnect account for bank-issued cards :)

        • +1

@tonester: got the root of prob. my username for both amex and amexconnect are the same. the system can't tell the diff.

        • @brongz: so it worked for you? how did you get it working with the bank issued card?

        • +1

@homersyd: using amexconnect. other way using link from leehungfei below https://offerenroll.americanexpress.com/enroll/EnrollmentSit…

    So its 33.33% OFF

Working for Gift Cards shopping in-store or online ? rite? anyone ?

    • +1

Should work for purchasing giftcard in store.

  • Thanks OP.

  • Is this a seperate promotion to the last one with the 652 votes from OP fishy?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/192897

    • Yes it is separate.

    • +1

imagine if they were trying to run away with all those internet points!

  • Will this still work if you purchase wish gift cards online with the 5% discount?

    • +2

No gift cards as usual, stated in T&C.

      • Yep, just read the full terms and conditions to confirm that gift card purchases are indeed excluded from "eligible transactions".

    • +2

Are you talking about Cash Rewards?
Here's the thing.. from past similar deals, some users report:

      • Online purchases of physical gift cards are always excluded as part of the T&Cs and you will not get your credit (as they are able to track what you have purchased)
      • However, physical gift card purchases worked for certain deals - even when purchased online, despite being excluded in T&Cs (e.g. the David Jones Online one that is still currently running, spend $200 get $40 credit)
      • In fact, e-gift Card purchases supposedly worked for an older David Jones offer, but no longer works as they are now purchased through a separate portal (i.e. not a "David Jones" page)
      • Offline purchases of anything have always worked, because AMEX can only see that $X was spent on this particular day (i.e. can't see what you bought)
      • Part of the T&Cs of this clause is "Purchases made through online aggregators such as PayPal or other retailers are excluded." - CashRewards could almost certainly be considered an online aggregator.

Considering all factors above, has to be a comprehensive no.

Happy for anyone else to add anything/correct me.

      • So if you buy a gift off-line/in-store for $30 they will issue the $10 statement credit? That's pretty sweet. If you can't see your self spending $30 total (can be over multiple transactions I believe) by 7 Jul (hard to see myself not doing that) on your Amex then you could "convert" the statement credit discount into a $30 gift card worth $20 which will expiry much later.

    • Yep, this sure works.

  • Very nice indeed, thanks.

  • Cant seem to enrol in this. Is the offer over the limit?

    • Worked for my anz. Make sure ur card is registered to the website properly

  • +1

Does it include their branded petrol stations?

    • Nope

  • How to get an Amex card , any requirements or fees? :o

    • +2

Velocity Amex has nil annual fee

      • -3

That won't work. T&C snip here
        B. Eligible Cards
Only American Express Cards issued by American Express Australia Limited or by the following licensed network partners are Eligible Cards:
        • National Australia Bank Limited;
        • Westpac Banking Corporation;
        • Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ); and
        • Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

        • +3

It should work because I think the Velocity AMEX is considered an "AMEX issued AMEX".

        • Can anyone confirm it works on Velocity AMEX. I can't enrol it through the amexconnect site.

    • just do a bit of work..
apply for amex velocity discovery card..free forever….7500 velocity points
then get up to 4 supp cards.. free forever (for the amex deals)
then refer a friend for another total of 25000 velocity points.

"Standard" T&C's I suppose. The deal appeared and was activated succesfully on my supplementary DJ amex card

      • +1

Same with my supplementary amex platinum

  • +2

    so opal top up count?

    • Interested to know as well. Planning to top up tomorrow as I am having a day off today.

    • +2

      It should.

It is not in the exclusion list, even if it is (like gift card purchases), past AMEX deals always honored it.

    • I see no reason that it should be excluded.

    • +1

Mine worked. Amex email received in about 30 secs.

      • Weird, I topped up $40 3 days ago at Woolies but got no emails from Amex.

  • Great, thanks, we buy bus tickets (travel 10) at WW on Amex.

  • +2

purchase gift card may be work. it happens to number of these amex deals but got thru. e.g. liquorland, harrisfarm, dam murphy etc.

    • It most likely will and in fact you can probably even buy other gift cards that they sell (e.g. Country Road, Skype, iTunes, Forever New, Just Jeans, Toys R Us)

  • +1

Cheers, now just have to remember to pay for wooolworths my amex and not egiftcards

    • +1

Very true! Requires a bit of thinking at the checkout..

    • +2

Easy just pay first $30 with AMEX. Then rest in e-giftcard

      • +2

Why not pay $30 with first AMEX, then another $30 with second amex, then another $30 with third AMEX.. and.. you get the drift..

        • Coz some people might end up in the looney ward from all these registrations using multiple cards including spouses for different retailers

        • @Peanut money: Yeah… I think I'm heading that way with the amount of credit cards I've gotten for all these bonus QFF points

  • +1

    Free money!

  • Hopefully Coles' turn after this!

    • +1

Coles have never done one of these.. over the past 2 or 3 years I can recall 2 or 3 of these from Woolies, and 0 from Coles.

  • anyone able to save on 2 cards?

  • Will this work for additional cardholders with the same card number?

    • +1

With same card number no, because the system doesn't even let you register it.

Source: Tried myself and reports from one or two other ozbargainers from previously posted AMEX Statement credit deals.

  • -1

worked… they've had this offer before… will just use it to top up my Opal at Town Hall WW… more $$ saved rather than ShittyRail getting it.

    • +4

shittyrail still get $30, amex subsidise.

  • +1

Oh God I have so many cards. Saved onto my Amex, ANZ, CBA and NAB

Edit: Oh, limited to first 40,000 registrations. Now I feel so guilty.

    • +1

I'm sure $40 of free groceries will soothe some of that pain you're feeling :)

    • why do you have 4 amex cards?

      • +1

obviously they are for deals like this..

        • +2

Actually it's for the sign up bonuses. It's a pleasant surprise that this offer is open to bank issued cards. With no annual fee, doesn't every ozbargainer take up every card deal posted?

  • +1

Anyone tried purchasing gift card yet ?
    thanks

  • free $10 boom
love it how on the checkout at woolies it says 'we prefer visa' (only recently too!)
I think this may be AMEX's comeback ;)

  • Could you split $120 worth of groceries (in store) over 4 cards (4x $30) or would it have to be individual transactions to get the statement credits?

    • +2

Yes You can. I done it before.

  • -3

Doesn't seem to work for David Jones AMEX

    • +3

      It does work

      • +1

It does work on main AND supplementary DJ amex

How did you get it to work on supplementary card??

        • +7

@Perthian: Just register the supplementary card as well.
Only works if supplementary card has different card number to primary card.

        • +1

          @illumination: Thanks.
          Found the relevant T&C's:

          OFFER TERMS
Offer only applies to spend on this Card. Supplementary Cards on this account or any other American Express Card you might hold qualify as an Eligible Card only if the Card is registered for the offer separately.

  • Would this apply for cigarettes?

    • +1

      What about cigars?

      • what about gin and juice?

  • It says I've already enrolled for this promo. Wonder when that happened? It is definitely not in my offers list.

  • With these AMEX offers, how do you know if they have exceeded the max. number eg "Participation is limited to the first 40,000 Cards to register"?
Would they just reject your registration or would you only know by the fact that you do the spend but don't get the rebate? THanks

    • +2

When you try and register, it will say the maximum number of cards have already been registered.

Source: Happened to me before for an old AMEX statement credit promo

      • Brilliant! Thanks.

  • -1

Got nothing on my Qantas Amex (the no annual fee one)

    • +2
      • ok thanks.

Tip: Logging onto the amexnetwork then going to that link doesn't work - you just refers you back to your "offers and places" on your americanexpress.com page. If you go to the link without logging on it works. Strange
