Australia Post: Send a Parcel Up to 1kg Anywhere in AU for $10 in June; Express $13.50

1640

Upgrade to Express Post for only $3.50* extra.

Good deal for anyone sending parcels interstate weighing between 501g to 1Kg. This rate is usually applicable for in-state postage only.

I sent one parcel this morning to Cairns using ClickandSend; paid $10, would have normally cost me around $16.

I weigh more than that so will still have to weight for tiger sale.

yep, I guess you will have to wait as sending <1kg parts will not work

      • +1

        Not for him anyway ;)

        • Will wait and see how many get that. :)

          @linton:

Now I don't know whether I've missed something clever or not????

        • @SlickMick: You'd be missing something :D

    • +4

      don't weight too long

  • Title should read "anywhere in Australia" not "Anywhere"

    • +2

It does say anywhere in AU

      • +3

        read the revisons

        • +1

In fairness to hollykryten though, there were 3-4 minutes between the revision and RedHab's comment i.e OP had already made the revision by the time RedHab's comment was posted.

        • LOL, yes I did revise the header

          @MAQ:

You should consider changing it to flat rate.

  • Been waiting for this. Dunno y limited time.

    • Because they are likely attempting to knock competition on the head, most likely the Officeworks parcel service.

lol, trying to beat mailman by office work i guess… too late, just sent another 3 parcel each less than 1kg for $11

i move from australia post to office works in the last 2+ weeks… all seems good, coz it is cheaper, now austpost came back with $1 cheaper… lol, i have to move back to austpost "temporarily"

    • At least with officeworks you know they open late. My auspost delivery service never delivers and I have to take time off to go to their store after hours. Their parcel locker service is OK, but the closest one to me is still a 20min drive away. Would love if they did a deal for all 7-11s or a big chain service station to have parcel lockers.

Great way to make a larger profit on eBay sales. Not many buyers would know about this.

    • What do the buyers have to do with it though … it's not like your not making more profit if they did know right.

  • I'm glad I logged in, was just about to print off a stack of eBay labels. Thanks OP.

  • +2

It is a "good price" for AP.

Apparently express 3kg is cheaper at $13.05 though

    • Huh … I wonder how many people don't bundle their 3 seperate ~1KG packages together if they're in that situation.

  • Not sure if its just my account because of the volume I send but for me it costs $11.70 for upto 3kg in my own packaging (can still use their satchels if I want)

    • what sort of volume r u doing?

      • +1

600+ per year. But I'm sure I've always had it at this price even when i was only sending a few things a week

        • Are you sending via eParcel, or just regular parcels declared on a contract mailing statement?

        • @Heres Johnny:

Nope not sending enough for eParcel still. Just sending them via click and send

        • @TheVoucherKing: That would mean you're using your own packaging; price will vary based on location. I'm assuming you have an account with us, so if I were you (if you don't already), I'd be harassing your account manager every 6 months to have a look and see if you're eligible for eParcel as 600+ parcels a year would have you basically on the verge of eParcel eligibility.

        • @Heres Johnny:

Yep using my own packaging. Dont have a business account yet unfortantly but might have to look into it as eParcel might be a bit cheaper. Do you have any idea on eParcel rates by any chance? Feel free to PM me too

          Thanks :)

        • Don't you get charged for receiving parcels back for failed deliveries on eparcel?
Some have said rates are worse for them than using click & send.

    • +1

$11.70 is the standard 3kg satchel price if you generate the postage label through eBay.

I wonder why this has been kept as a relative secret by Aussie Post, surely they should be spamming out this kind of promotion to their business account customers (like me) - I feel sad for them that I had to learn about this promotion here, so much for their marketing department.

    • +1

It was being promoted at PeSA last week, by AP………..but our post office knew nothing about it.

    • Why would they want to inform an existing customer that they could be paying them less money?

  • Bonus feature: AP will make sure your parcels will arrive severely damaged (squished, torn, wet etc). In case the parcels are extremely well packaged, AP will make sure the items inside seize to work. This bonus only applies for the minority of parcels that actually reach their intended destination.

    • Package will arrive? Are you kidding me? It arrives at a bloody post office which is only open 9-5 Monday to Friday, where I have to go and collect it from someone that has had customer service training in North Korea.

      • +1

Have you heard of parcel locker? some post shop are opened for early parcel collection at 6am, some shop open Saturday too, but parcel lockers are better as you won't have to deal with the North Korean-trained personnel who has to wake up before 5am ;)

Bout time they offer a 1kg option. This should be permanent! 500g to 3kg is ridiculous.

    • +1

They should bring the 250g back as well and have permanent competitive pricing.

This "deal" is only for a month, they haven't said what happens after that.

    OZB Secret Santa in June?

    • +3

Just in time for Christmas in July. I reckon if you send me something tomorrow from Sydney and I send you something from Perth, we should probably receive it just in time.

    • +1

srs question - does OZB do a Christmas card exchange or are there too few old ladies here to participate in such a thing?

    • That could actually be quite a fun, crazy idea. Would participate.

    • Brilliant idea; count me in. The Legacy Ladies leave me feeling envious with their Christmas in July celebrations. We could all do with a little cheering up at Tax Time too.

Super helpful! I've been forced to ship my 700g items in a 3kg bag for ages now because it's more expensive without the flat rate satchels. It's only for a month though.

  • Thank you for sharing. Pity AusPost has not advertised this well. It's annoying when a parcel weighs only that few grams over 500g.

  • I've never used click and send before. Anyone knows if we can buy a few extra and print them out for future use? Example, print now, use next year. :p

    • It's just an online interface where you enter the shipping address, pay and it gives you a barcode to printout. It's not prepaid service.

      • Thanks. I suppose if you were certain of your shipping address, you could get a few in advance and use it later.

  • Good for eBay sellers sending large items with a flat rate

  • US$5.25 for US domestic 2 day service in a (free) flat rate box with FULL AND GENUINE tracking… AP is catching up - slowly.

  • Their website won't let me register as it can't find my address, tried several different ways of putting my address in, can't be bothered if they can't get their site to work properly.
    Typical Aus Post!

  • thanks.

  • Please excuse the silly question … Is this offer for anyone or only registered Click and Send customers? Is it as simple as putting my stuff in my own packaging, rocking up to the counter and asking for the $10 rate? Thanks in advance !

    • looks like it fine over the counter as well:
"*This special product offer is available in-store over the counter or online via Click and Send from 1 June 2015 to 30 June 2015. The offer must be requested in-store, specified on mailing statements using code B86 for Parcel Post or B85 for Express Post, or selected online at Click and Send. Not available via eParcel nor postage meters. Applicable where the product weighs 501 grams to 1kg and is being sent within Australia and where standard postage rates would ordinarily apply."

    • Confirmed over the counter

  • Tried it. Is Good.

    Other suggestions:
Bring back <250 gram parcel prices. Heck, make the thresholds go by 100 grams and adjust price accordingly like civilised countries. 500 gram parcel to USA: about $15. 501 gram parcel to USA: about $30. TF mate?

Some proper online tracking (local and international) that doesn't cost a minimum of $100. Also, eBay, PayPal and AusPost needs to coordinate their shit better. Services and rules change so often, nobody knows what they're talking about in regards to buyer/seller protection.

Lower the pay rate/benefits of the current CEO. He seems pretty useless. I'm sure we can OzBargain a half price CEO that has almost as good business/management skills. At the very least, this bargain CEO will be better on a entrepreneur0rz per $ basis.

Fully nationalise Australia Post again. My economics 101 class taught me that privatisation increases efficiency and lowers costs, which in turn should lead to lower costs for consumers.

    Hah!

Nationalise it before it's too late. At least this way, instead of the profits going to the CEO for doing a job a monkey can do anyway for peanuts, it will go to the Goverment. This in turn, should lead to more spending on important things like health, education and the well-being of society.

    Hah!

  • Anyone can confirm if this is here to stay or gone for good?
