WTF. I, literally a few minutes ago just bought and paid for the V6 Animal for $425 (I had a 15% eBay coupon). If JB-Hifi decides to list the $399 V6 on eBay, then I could have got it for $340…

    Watch this space…

PS. Also, difference between V6 and V6 Animal, discuss.
PPS. Standard V6 URL still needs to be linked in main post.

    • +7

Why dont you share your eBay coupon with us? Is it targeted offer?

      • -4

        it's targeted

        • -1

Correct. In the past they gave me a eBay voucher that had an incorrect expiry date/time (probably due to daylight savings) so as compensation, they gave me the 15% off.

        • @DeafMutePretender: Racist ebay

        • -2

          @MilfHunter: blackkidsayingdasraciss.gif

Also lol at the downvotes and upvotes.

    • Who did you buy it from? What 15% coupon did you use?

  • +2

The reckoning has come, this is the price they actually should be vs USD retail price.

    • +1

I think it looks cool. Looks like a laser gun.

      • Ha yeah better than Electrolux look or Vax designs.

    • +1

come on then, show us what a good vacuum cleaner looks like? :P

  • I think this is the cheapest ever for V6 Handstick? Possibly you can ask TGG or HN to beat the price.

    • Call DJ, they can price match it, sometime they can price beat it

If you have Entertainment, you can get extra 5% off

      • How do you get the extra 5% off with entertainment?

        • Buy the giftcard

      • +1

I think it's 10% off, is this what you are talking about?

        http://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/members/Gift-Cards/David…

      • But even with the 10% off gift card, it will be $25 saving, unless you got sth else to buy and get the $500 gift card.

The cheapest way to get this would be to price match at HN and use with the Amex Offer as vash12 suggested. It will reduce the price to $349.

Possibly TRENT86 can update this in the title.

  • OMG!! Me too! Bought the Masters Animal for $499 last night. -_-"

Not sure if I will need the accessory or if it's worth $100!!

Does the base model V6 have the same motorised brush head as the Animal?

    • As far as I can see, the difference is only the mini motorized tool attachment. Correct me if I'm wrong

      • correct

      • +1

The mini "Animal" attachment is extremely useful. When cleaning upholstery, car, and stairs.

        • Was just reading up on it and I reckon I might end up using it after all. The regular floor tool is too big for sofas and the combi tool is too small. Thank goodness, saves me from having to return the Masters one and running to JB…

        • @highon2str: I reckon it is worth about $99.

    • Don't you hate it when a deal shows up right after you commit to another one? Some people like the "animal" attachment extra so hopefully the feeling of buyer's remorse isn't so bad. Or perhaps I'm just rationalizing.

  • Worth it to get the Animal for $100 extra?

    • +2

If you have indoor pets that shed, yes!

    • we have an animal stick Dyson

the amount of hair it picks up really makes you think if the pets should live inside or out… My wife won the argument and the Dyson continues to serve its purpose

  • Is the handstick motorised head the same on the animal?

    • IF you mean V6 HS and V6 animal then yes.

  • Needed V6 Fluffy for Hard Floors… They dont even sell the head as accessories… but $799 not worth it..

  • +14

For those wondering what is the difference between V6 and V6 animal, I rang the customer support and was told that it's only an extra part that comes with the Animal - it's called "Mini motorized tool" which is a nylon brush designed to remove pet hair and ground-in dirt from furniture, car seats and tight spaces. This part is sold separately for $60 in Australia.

    http://shop.dyson.com.au/spare-parts/mini-motorhead-962748-0…

If you need this extra brush then you can order separately and save yourself $40 instead of paying the extra $100 for the Animal version. Talking to friends, I found that most people didn't really knew the difference before purchasing the Animal and in the end they never use the extra brush.

I bought the V6 (non-animal) a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. So far, I don't think I am missing on the Animal brush since we don't have pets at home.

Thanks for the clarification, so you find it's good enough for carpet? (the NON animal version)

      • Yes, I find it's very good on carpet. We live in a fully carpeted apartment and the rooms are quite large. Factor in that the battery is limited to 6 minutes on turbo mode or 25 in normal mode so cleaning the whole house in one go may not be possible. We use almost everyday to clean-up the kids mess around the eating area and it does a great job (5 minutes on turbo). The first few times I was shocked how much dirt it sucked in and how fast the canister filled - I think it gets all the dirt from beneath the carpet that was there for so long. After that first or second clean-up, it gets more manageable.

    • Yes, I have the same question, if it's good enough for carpet? (the NON animal version)

      • Does a good job on our short pile carpet

    • Great description.
Also bought the 'animal' and also never used the extra tool.
The main floor head is enough for my bachelor pad.
Good advice, save the extra $100 if needed, $40 for the tool.

Good price on the V6. Seems the old DC59, in now rebranded as V6.

    Cool thanks,

Is it possible to price match at Harvey Norman and get the $50 rebate from amex?

    • If you're lucky - I tried to pricematch HN to David Jones when they had the v6 for $489 - the livechat assistant claimed they couldn't find items in stock in my area, even though I had one in my basket. In the end I just bought it from DJs

  • What is the quality of Dyson vacuum cleaners like?

I have not used Dyson products before so if someone has used them or owns it, please respond. Also please write if you ever had to deal with their after sales technical support, what sort of customer service do they provide in case their product develops any manufacturing fault?

It will help me in making a decision.

Thank you for your help in advance.

I have the DC45 stick vac.

It manages my two bedroom cottage with breeze (tiles, floorboards and carpet). It handles the stairs beaut thanks to the smallish swivel head.

The modular design makes it easy to 'click and connect' to suit the cleaning environment. You can dismantle every piece to aid in cleaning the vacuum itself.

My folks have a Rowenta - it's rubbish. Virtually a glorified broom (even a broom does a better job).

For the extra ~$150 definitely get a Dyson.

    • I have the DC model before "Barrel/ball" model (forgot what model was). Best Vacuum cleaner I have ever had.

I have tried DC35 stick (if i'm not mistaken), only hold 7-10mins. Suction is weak. Barely can clean dust on floor.

I'm not sure on V6 stick though as I haven't tried myself. If the suction is good, then I'm sold too. :)

  • How long do these take to charge? My vacuuming area as take longer that 16-20 mins this is said to last.
Or can anyone recommend an alternative corded vac?

    • I forgot where I read it (I'm sure a Google search can confirm) but from memory, about 4 hours for the standard V6, 5.5 hours for the Animal V6.

      • Thanks for that. Would make for a long vacuuming session!

        • +1

Actually they are all 3.5 hours.

  • is the dyson v6 animal the best dyson vacuum cleaner for pets (in the dyson range)?

    http://www.binglee.com.au/floorcare/handheld-vacuums/dyson-v…

interesting on dyson website they don't have all the other models
    http://www.dyson.com.au/vacuum-cleaners/handstick/dyson-v6/a…

  • I this strong enough for weekly vacuuming? (no animal in the unit).
    I'm currently using https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/176335

  • How long it works before it needs to charge again

    • +3

Was told 18mins and re charging takes 3.5 hours.

Just had HN price match it online, so will end up paying $349 with Amex offer
    Proof of Purchase

    • +3

Same here. Order went through at $399. Won't give free delivery though so i decided to pickup instore for free. Order confirmed and Amex offer acknowledgement came through as well. Super fast. Thanks OP.

Guys do not forget to add the amex offer to your card before buying.

    • How do I apply the amex offer? I'm new to the cards as i just received my first amex card but never used it.

      • You can sign up at this link. Alternatively there is a button on the home page of your Amex account online that says 'My Offers'

    • How'd you get HN to price match online? I've been trying to convince my wife to get one and this will definitely help with the HN Amex Offer

    • Can did they price match it online? You placed an order and call them to change the price for the order?

      • +1

You chat with them online. Add the item in your cart. They issue a link with a discount code attached to it for you to apply. When you click on that link, the price in your cart gets reduced to $399 and then you proceed as normal checkout.

        • clicking on live chat just asks to send an email and they will get back to within 24 hours. Tried in both IE and Chrome.

    • Hi, I purchased it from Good Guys two weeks ago, if you can share upload your docket/receipt from HN (with your personal details removed) for me to claim price guarantee, it would be really helpful!

      • Hi, I purchased it from Good Guys two weeks ago, if you can share upload your docket/receipt from HN (with your personal details removed) for me to claim price guarantee, it would be really helpful!

        Here you go

        • Thank you so much! Hopefully the GG will honor their price guarantee.

Dyson vacuums used to be the best when they were once upon a time designed and built out of the UK, now they're designed in UK but mass built in China. Says alot about the quality.
Stick to Miele', atleast they still are produced in Italy (most of them)

  • Are these good enough to be a primary vacuum for a small 2 bedroom house?

Currently have some ~$100 Godfrey's rubbish vacuum and looking to upgrade, ideally would like to stay sub $500 and have no real brand loyalty.

    Cheers!

    • +1

We have the Animal version and it's perfect for our three bedroom two bathroom house. Does the whole house (carpet and tile) on one charge. Sometime can even squeeze in the couch as well

  • HN QV Melb price matched. Bought for $399 and hopefully less $50 via amex

  • +5

Harvey Norman so dodgey. Just removed it from their site

    • +1

      that sucks….

    • Indeed very dodgy !!

    • They removed the entire Dyson line bar the DC43H from their website… so dodgy

  • +1

For anyone that has purchased it from the good guys in the past 30 days, they currently have it at $599 so 120% of the difference would be $240 almost as good as the Amex offer.

    http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/30-day-price-guarantee

    • Ha good luck getting them to agree to it though :p

    • Be careful with that one though. It needs to be immediate delivery. Jbhifi deal is awaiting stock. Delivery in 7 days etc. They will fob u off on that clause.

  • I am going to give a shot at HN in store price match.

  • +1

I tried going in store, they won't do it as it's "out of stock"

And yes they've taken all V6 down from their website. Dodgey! I had one in my cart!

    • Which store did you try?

  • Thanks OP bought one and they shipped it too.

    • Did you buy from JB or HN?

      • Bought from Jb.was looking for dc45 in ebay 20% off but goodguys removed it from ebay store during sale so for now for $100 more this is definitely a bargain so grabbed it without a second thought.

  • Does anyone know whether DJ can split bills when paying? If yes, this could be cheaper:

    1. Get two $100 gift card with entertainment book for the 10% off = $180
    2. Price match it at DJ to $399
    3. Pay $200 with the Amex DJ Deal before 5/7/2015 (Spend $200 or more, get $40 back) = $160
    4. Pay the remaining $199 with the gift cards

Total Cost: $340 for the Dyson + $1 balance in gift card

See if anyone want to give it a try, before 5/7/2015 :)

    • AMEX DJ deal is online only. Don't think you can price match through DJ online.

      • But some people did pricematch online for HN, worth to give it a try if HN is dodgy.

        • I rang my local HN and was told the V6 animal was showing on the computer already as $499. Went down and grabbed one and got my $50 Amex statement credit email before I got home.

          Thanks Trent86!

  • +1

When in store ask if the got stock 1st before bringing up price match.

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

I managed to get it price matched in store without a fuss at HN.

(UPDATE) Just letting you guys know that I purchased the normal V6 for $399 at HN. I managed to buy the mini motorised head which comes with the animal version via Dyson for $60 so altogether will have the same as the animal version for $409 when taking into account the $50 Amex offer. Give that a go to save the extra $$$ if you wish!

    • How did you buy mini motorised head from Dyson website? I can't see a online-purchase link here: http://shop.dyson.com.au/spare-parts/mini-motorhead-962748-0…. Did you call them up and placed an order? Did you check if you own a V6 Animal or asked for its serial number before allowing you to purchase this part? HN guy wasn't really sure if Dyson would sell this part to those who don't own V6 Animal. I see no sensible reason though; it will just make them lose that business opportunity if they don't sell it. Just because someone can't buy that spare separately, he/she isn't going to go for V6 Animal if he/she has bought V6 Standard already.

  • I'm still getting great use out of my DC59 Animal. I'm not sure how much improved the new V6 models are but the DC59 itself is great!

    • +1

not worth its just attachments not extra suction power.

iirc the DC59 Animal is the same as the V6 Absolute bundle
      so you'd be downgrading

      • +1

V6 Absolute comes with the new Fluffy head attachment as well for hard floors.

  • Thanks OP, got it online.

  • another day, another ozbargain impulse buy :)

  • Just bought one for 399 from harvey norman with the new motorised head non tangle from 89 to 60.

  • For anyone that owns one and uses it on wooden floors, do these scratch wooden floors?

    • +1

I've never had a problem. Whizzes over wooden floors like a breeze, no scratching. I do recall reading somewhere that the dc45 head was inclined to scratch.

      • Thanks!
