I've been tossing up between the LX100 and RX100 IV for my travel camera and decided to go with the LX100 since it was $400 cheaper (LX100 is $800, RX100IV is $1200).
But I just hopped onto StaticIce and noticed that ShoppingSquare is selling the RX100 IV for $929.95.

+1 to above comment. Have the RX100 III - can confirm solid travel pocket camera and I actually prefer it over my 5D III in certain situations. Would def have it on your list, as the main differences the RX100 IV has are not groundbreaking nor are they features that would get used much.
Also, nothing to be worried about with Grey Import sites… pocket the savings and put it towards your trip!

I had my RX100 III in Europe and the photo quality was excellent. SLRs are great but not for travel. The RX100 just slipped into my jacket pocket it was fantastic. Mine also came with a $30 sony store card and I got a extra battery for it.
I do have to say though the price jump between 6 months ago and now for the RX100 III is amazing,
I paid $750 from JB it is now $999 and the MKIV is out
I've been lucky to never have an issue with any grey import electronics I've bought, so risk-wise I'm not too fussed.
I got my RX100III from DWI, and with the $ savings, bought 3 genuine batteries for it (lots of video). Still came out cheaper than any local stock.
The price increases are bad…weird to see electronics appreciate in price (damn AUD), but it's good for resale if you're thinking of upgrading! ;)
I was really tempted to upgrade but I don't think I will.
With the grey imports thing some people are lucky but you also read some petty bad horror stories.
Isn't the LX100 better than the RX100? Size isn't too much of a worry since both can fit in my coat pocket. I'm only considering the RX100 IV because this looks like a great deal from Shopping Square.
It's real but it will be a grey import. It also seems a bit good to be true.
Keep in mind if you are going overseas that you can do the TRS and get the GST off.
The RX100 III should be on that list. The differences aren't that great and the MKIII is still a great travel camera.
