Prank on Annoying next door neighbour in an apartment

Rather than making everyone go through massive paragraph of the incident.

Long story short:

We have annoying neighbour who we share laundry facilities with.

  • Laundry is included as part of the rent.
  • next door wash laundry daily. Little load each time use very long cycle. Also wash bedsheets daily. (Not sure what kinda activity they are engaging in, lol)
  • have mentioned a few times to them. They don't care. Esp the high maintenance sassy guy. He doesn't want roster.

We used to wait for them. We now done waiting.

So we started doing the below:

  • take out their washing/drying when it's done. (By done I mean when the timer has stopped)
  • don't care they have another load on top. We just take out their done clothes and wash ours.
  • do laundry in very late hours.
  • planned to use delay timer at midnight So when we get up laundry would be done and ready to be dried (so clothes don't stay washed and stays in washer for a long period of time).

We started to hear lots cursing when the guy realised we 'get in the way' of his washing. The guy has shouted some random words at me for no reason, probably trying to intimidate people? Or he's mental. I once shouted d1ckhead to the public area and shut the door really quickly as I heard him cursing at us.

Last night. We set a delay timer for the first time at 1240am. I set it on a washing cycle of 1.2hours as we do have a bit of washing. Washing should start at 7ish done by 9am.

Unsure if I got the setting right. Went back and check. Discovered horror:

  • douche took out our washing out to wash his 2 tops 2 undies in a 1.5hrs cycle (I know coz I took it out). It has done his washing half way, which means he would have taken our clothes out 20mins after we left.

  • Our clothes were wet - unsure if it has been washed properly. We had to wash it again. Yep took out their stuff like a wet feotus and ditched it in a dirty sink. So we waited our washing and drying and didn't sleep until 330am.

What kinda person takes our peoples half done washing just like that?

I need pranks that won't get trace back to me at all, something legal but fine to walk over the edge of that.

I'm not here for suggestions on how to resolve this. As it will not work. Should seen the guy, a total douche. I don't want to punch him in the face or kick him right in the groin.

So:

  • thanks but no thanks. Not gonna ask about roster; the guy rages like a junkie.
  • no laundromat. Rent included in laundry, don't want to get partner drive 10km over weekend and wait there wasting time.
  • lease is over in few months. Landlord doesn't care. So done talking to landlord.
  • off the plan protect might turn into investment hence not buying white goods.

Help me out. Be creative. This whole thing is driving me insane.

I need to get this guy!!

In case you are wondering. Yes I put their wet shyt back into the machine. All I did for them was a spin cycle. I don't give a crap if it's still bubbly! I'm done being civil!

Thanks guy!

Hey guys,

Thanks to each of you coming up with some useful and creative ideas. I really appreciated each of you. :)
For the people who rolled their eyes after reading it. Sorry for being an eye-sore. actually I am not sorry at all

I know quite a few of you have suggested buying a washing machine. It would be my last resort. Simply due to the reasons below:

  • We have an off the plan property settling soon - yes, we are unable to get the measurement of a lot of things even though the settlement date could be happening any time in the next few months. It could be because the agents are just being lazy that now they are guaranteed with the commission, they cbf asking the developer.
  • With the renting ads explicitly stated laundry facility is included. I don't believe any of you would just rub your nose and go buy your own washer or drive to the next suburb's laundromat.
  • Setting the machine up in my unit - this place is tiny. It would have to sit right in the middle of the room. Lol. Also I guarantee we will get calls from landlord complaining power, gas and water usage. The landlord has done it before. It was not a very pleasant chat. For people who cook/shower at home almost 85% of the time, gas bill of $60 for a months, I do not think that is over the top.

I am hoping things will get better for us now we are going to be rude pricks. I wish there is a line I can call up and complain about their water wastage.
Neighbours are pr1cks, there are so many other things they do indicated they are a waste of this earth space. However, we are just ordinary people who like to wear clean clothes as well. :)

Anyways, I am not going to reply to each of you now. I just wanted to thank you all for all the help/feedback.

Hey guys, first time posting in forum. Please be nice to me by suggesting how do I deal with the currently annoying situation I am in. Thank you in advance.

Just some background on the property:

  • I'm currently renting with my partner.
  • our purchased property is about to settle in a few months time.
  • we are currently sharing the laundry facility with another unit, due to having the same landlord.
  • the property is not run or managed by an agent. We deal with landlord direct.
  • it is the first time the landlord have rent out the property for a long term, previously it's always have been air b'n'b.
  • the unit next door which is the one we are sharing laundry facility with, meant to have only 2 people, but we think they probably have 3 or 4 people living in it.
  • the washing facility cost is not part of the rent, it is covered by landlords bodycorp.

Ok, now the issue we have got is, since the laundry facility is being shared. It supposed to be 50/50. However for quite a while now, we have noticed them to have unlimited load of laundry to wash everyday. They also like to wash their bed sheet every day as well. I have spoke to them a few times, since we are having issue using the laundry since we are unable to wash our laundry as they are constantly washing. The last time I spoke to them was few days ago. The girl told me that her boyfriend's washing machine in his place broke, so she's also doing his washing as well. Hence the load increase.

You might ask me how often am I referring to. Tuesday and Wednesday I worked from home, Tuesday morning I did half of my washing at 8am, laundry dried at 12pm. By then, they have 2 full baskets of clothes waiting to be washed. On Wednesday morning I did the same thing. By the time I'm done, they got another 2 baskets of clothing there.
Thursday I got home at 830pm. They are washing their clothes again. Friday night I got home, they were doing washing again. This morning I woke up, they are doing washing again! I am sure they would have clothes to be washed tomorrow as well.

I found if I have to stay home all weekend waiting for a gap so I can squeeze in and do our washing and drying is ridiculous. I don't mind it every now and then, but from the time we moved in till now, it has been a few month. I start noticing my weekend is all about washing!

We told the landlord if they can try to remind the tenant that the machine is supposed to be shared, but they refuse to, They told us to go get our own washing machine or deal with it.

I work early hours and don't get home till late during weekdays. And there's not really many places to hang our clothes indoor. :(

You might ask me why don't I move out then, we could but with our property settling any time soon, it would be rather difficult to find a place with such a short lease, also the moving would be a headache, etc.

Sorry if I sound like a whinger. What would you do if you were me?

I have currently thought of:

  • continue to suffer and say nothing
  • talk to them again
  • nego with work see if it's possible to work once a week at home for laundry… This sounds stupid. However if it's what it takes to get it done. I guess I could always try ask work.

By the way, these guys they do not work the hours we work. They are hospitality shift workers. They are normally home during day time.

Thanks guys!!

You said that you spoke to "the girl" - what did you say? Did you try to negotiate a time when you can get certain access?

    • I said to her if they can try do their laundry during day time. Since we are unable to do our washing as they are constantly using it when we wanted to use it - which is night time. (I said this coz I know they are home during day time a lot, almost every weekday).

She said she's been trying to do her laundries during weekdays and mentioned her bf's washing machine broke, hence the load increase.

To be honest, I don't think they tried. I didn't want to be rude and tell them off. I was hoping after I mentioned it to them they would start share it property. Didn't seem like it.

      • +1

try a roster you key day they get key day.

  • +3

our purchased property is about to settle in a few months time.

Not worth the hassle..buy your own machine, set it up in the bathroom.done, easy.

    • +1

Hahaha, speaking of that. This place bathroom is so small the machine prob would not fit. Also since its air b'n'b all the time. When we moved in as a first long term tenant. With the contract saying everything is bulk billed (water, gas and electricity) few months later we got a call from landlord complaining we used too much gas and power. Dude it's winter what was she expecting!?

She didn't care how much the laundry facility is being used as the the facilities are outside in the public area and bills are covered by body corp.

  • +6

Talk to the guys in the other unit and see if you can come up with a roster so you have times that you know you can use the machine. You are a short term proposition so the landlord is probably not going to hassle on your behalf. If you are settling on a house you will probably need to get a washing machine and/or dryer so it might be worth thinking about bringing this forward. (Second hand if necessary). The other option is the Laundromat.

BTW - If they are washing their sheets everyday I wonder what sort of "hospitality" they are into.

    • +1

Hahahaha yes. I am not sure what kind of hospitality they are into.
It's always the same bloody white sheet. Every time I see it I felt like pulling it out and just burn it. :P

Yeh thought about buying the white goods, but we are unsure what the laundry room measurement is as the place is off the plan. We wanted to get a big machine but worry it may not fit in in the new place. :/

Also we thought if we buying washing machine, dryer and fridge and other white goods in one go, we may potentially get the stuff a lot cheaper… :/ not sure. Guess it may still be an option to consider, buy a second hand one then sell it when we move.

      • If it was me I would try the roster then go down the temporary second hand whitegoods path with a view to selling/donating when you are ready to move in. Just get something small that will do the job for the time being. We currently have a dryer, but it is really just filling a hole next to the washer. We dry everything on clothes airers inside with the bigger stuff going on the outside clothes line. We've used the dryer, maybe, 6 times in 7 years. We had a couple out from San Francisco who were "astonished" we didn't put everything in the dryer. Best of luck with everything.

        • Hahaha, thank you!! We might try the roster with them.

If we could have wash small loads of clothes every few nights then dry it inside the unit. However currently we were force to 'find a gap' every weekend since it's the only days we will be at home the most and they seem to be doing washing all the time. To have two peoples clothes washing for the whole week, we don't have that many space to hang it indoor so we sort of have to use the dryer… :( sigh.

        • @nightfever: We got a really good airer from the Breville outlet place in Smith St Fitzroy. It it hard to describe but it has two wings that go out and also hanging space underneath. (Bunnings probably has similar). It folds up flat and is quite light. (We have two of these). We team this with a bunch of hangers we got from Howards Storage that have 8 clothes pegs that hang down. This gives us quite compact drying for all our underwear and T-shirts for two people. We also dry our winter thermals there. We have a second storey so we hang a broomstick across the stairs and hang our shirts from hangers there. (Always dry shirts on plastic covered hangers as it cuts down on ironing.) We dry the larger stuff on our metal balustrades. Blankets and stuff that needs to drip goes out on the clothes line. The Doona gets washed when we have a couple of 40C days in a row so it can dry thoroughly.

        • @try2bhelpful:

Ah I think I know what you are talking about, we currently got a wired airer which is pretty small and doesn't have the wings sticking out. We might try get a few of these. I guess drying part isn't the difficult part. It's the actually washing part.

Went and buzzed their door bell just then, they ain't home.Great. Just went up took out their washing that's done outta machine and washing ours now. :D

I don't get why people would leave their washing in machine all day when it's done (they do it quite often as well). Wouldn't the washing smell?

        • So don't worry about if they're home or not in future. If you go to the laundry and there's a finished load in the machine, simply remove it.

        • @Geewhizz:

Hahaha yep! I'm not gonna knock on their door anymore. Don't really know why I actually bothered!

    • If they have a red light on at night, there is a good reason for washing the sheets every day; if not, they are either OCD or have bowel control issues — in which case, you might avoid sharing the same washing machine with them, for your hygiene.

      • :/ oh dude! I'm praying it's not any of those you have mentioned… Hmm I'm not sure if it's red light at night. I don't hear or see lots ppl come and go at night. I reckon we would have noticed the crazy foot traffic if they are doing those stuff? :/

Bowel control issues and white sheets. Gees!!! vomits

  • +3

Ask the landlord what time is good for you to drop around and use his/her Laundry.

Ask the Landlord if they offer folding and/or ironing.

Then… complain bitterly about too little starch or too much starch, depending on whatever way the wind is blowing.

    :+)

    • Landlord is English. Landlord implied we are whinngers and if we want we can break lease and go away without penalty. Hahahaha. But hey good idea I like that! Hahahaha.

  • Defiantly see your pain and in no way should you have to go out and buy your own machine because your neighbours are hogs. I have to wash my uniform every day (As ive only got one) and I would be asking for it at a certain time every day. Or dump some food colouring or bleach in the washing machine before they use it.

    • +1

Oh vicious but I like that. I hope neither the landlord or those people are members of this forum. We do have some super strong bleach… Hmm… If they piss me off enough. I'll def pour some in it. Hehehehe!!! insert evil face

        • LOL, goodness me. What if they find out and do it back? :O :O This idea is great, I might actually do it before we move outta here. Eff them seriously!

        • I assume they sell this in the craft shop… :D :D Gonna go check them out. :D :D :D

        • If that doesn't work there is always the "1001 things to do with Crimestoppers/National Terrorist Hotline" option.

They come and go late at night…
Use lots of Electricity (drug lab)?
Take lots of photos of Secure Government Buildings.
(Living near an Airport or Court Building is 10,000 Bonus Points)

          :+)

        • @holdenmg:

Hahahaha really? I never thought of that!! Not sure if that would work! Any other tricks? Hahahaha.

    • +2

Going to bleach a white sheet, yeah good work thumbs up

      • Nah, they do wash other clothes as well. Of coz not gonna bleach their white sheet. That would be too dumb. :P I'd use some
Clothes dye for that sheet! Hehehe.

  • +1

Back in Uni, we all shared washing machines/dryers. If something had finished being washed or dried and was sitting there for a while, I'd just take it out and put it in a basket. Others would occasionally do the same with mine. Worked fairly well. Why not try that?

    • yeh we do do that. The area we are in is very dusty, on top of the machine you can see it covers with dusts. We watch our laundry like a hawk, as soon as it's done. We take it right out.

Hmm that's not really an issue, we do take their laundry out when they let it sit in machine all day long. However the issue is, they like to wash lots of laundries. Each load only has very little clothes, it's such a waste of water. Sometimes it's just two tops few undies few socks. They put it on like a 1hour 20mins load for that.

Sometimes I felt rude to jump in doing the washing, as I see another basket of dirty clothes sit on top of the machine, I'm guess it indicated that they would like to do the next load? Maybe we are just too nice…

      • +6

The area we are in is very dusty, on top of the machine you can see it covers with dusts.

not your problem, If they dont leave a basket, then it goes on the dust

Sometimes I felt rude to jump in doing the washing

        time to be rude

        • Yeh, thought we are all civilised people. Guess it's not working well for us. Stuff that. Agreed. Time to be rude.

Originally thought about coming up with a roster, but yeh i am not sure how that is going to work out.

The very first time we spoke to the guy in that unit asking them politely if they can take out their laundry that is done. So we can use the washing. We got told they will not take it out until their drying is done.

We came back to our room, sat on that rude reply for half hour, went back knocked on the door again, told them take it out put it in a basket, coz we really need to do our washing… some people these days…

      • +2

"Sometimes it's just two tops few undies few socks. They put it on like a 1hour 20mins load for that."

I suggest you change that to 30 minutes or something shorter, for the sake of our precious water.

They sound like assholes. Can you tell them when you would like to do your washing and tell them they can wash their hearts out outside these time slots?

        • Hahaha I know right!! Waste of water! Just because it's part of the rent does not mean you abuse the crap out of it. I'm sure they would not wash the way they wash if they actually have to pay the usage bill.

I did tell them we would like to do our washing during the weekend if possible. They told us they are 'trying' to do most of their washings during weekdays. Well they are not trying hard enough! Coz washing machine is still being used by them during weekend, as well as drying. I put their drying outta dryer just then, coz I needed to use it. After I'm done with it, I'm not going to put their stuff back in. I normally do but it's not a time to play nice anymore.

  • +1

is the machine actually running each time you visit?? or is the person just not removing the wet washing?

    • Both! When they have clothes that's done. We take it out and do ours. But sometimes they have another load of dirty laundry sitting on top of the machine indicating they have more Washington to do. We would leave it and not wash ours, coz we felt rude to jump the queue. Maybe we should just ignore that next time, since they are not really respecting our rights.

But yeh every weekday night we get home the washing machine would be going 3/5 times, by the time it's done it would be 10pm, and it's pretty much almost bed time for us..

Weekend we're forced to wait for a gap so we can squeeze in do all our washing.

      • Jump the queue, who cares.

Can the washing be done after 10pm? If the noise doesnt annoy you, then just chuck it in and go to bed, take it out in the morning

        • +1

Hahaha, no, noise doesn't bother us. we get up at around 6:50am for work, the thought of sacrificing our sleep and hang the laundry in the morning.. is a bit… since its so cold in the morning… and the idea of sacrificing sleeps… :O

Hahahaha, I felt like we are sounding a bit difficult, but com'on who doesn't like an extra 20 mins of snoozing time!

Yes, gonna jump the queue now, eff that!!

        • +2

@nightfever: Absolutely jump the queue, when their washing has finished put it in their basket and put your own in. Use the dryer as well if they haven't come back.

        • +1

          @try2bhelpful:

Thanks! Will do! Either way though we probably still have to find the gap. Most of the time we go up, there are stuff being washed! lol.

      • +5

Jump the queue! Not your problem if they are so inconsiderate.

        • +1

Yeh thanks guys. If next time I go up wanting to do my laundry and see another load on top waiting for the next load. If they ain't there I'm going to take out their wet stuff put it right next to their dirty stuff and wash my laundry!

Just another thought. Hope they won't try to revenge by scratching our car! :O

        • @nightfever:
yep, just do that. Its only for a short time.

        • @PVA:

Haha thanks. I don't need to feel bad about it anymore.

It's still irritating how they are doing washing all the time though. Just exactly how many clothes do two people have? :/ I'm hoping I'll get my hands on that machine before they do in the morning tomorrow!

        • @nightfever:
Maybe she has a side business of washing, $5 a load or something… see everything is free (power/powder etc) it's all profit.

        • @PVA:

Maybe. Who knows!! :( such dogs!

        • +3

          @PVA:

I think you're on the money. That would explain lots of small loads - not wanting to mix up items from different customers.

        • @kiitos:

Maybe? It's crazy how two people have so many clothes. We can sometimes see them got loads of clothes hanging indoor as well as clothes in the dryer. How unfair. They should go buy their own bloody machine and put it in the public area. Then they can use 24/7. I wouldn't care. It's just unfair how we have to be the one suffer. Oh well. :(

  • I thought if you were renting, you needed to bring your own washing machine. That's how things worked for me in the past.

    • +1

Not for all places. Some place are full furnished and do have washing facilities included. :) Like this place on currently renting.

I'm not surprised, they used to use the two units for air b'n'b.

  • +3

Read all the comments and replies. What inconsiderate pricks. Seriously. I'd love to come around and sort them out for you. Arghlsdkjaslj.

To think we share a world with people so selfish.

    • +1

Hahaha, Thanks @waterlogged turnip. Hahaha what exactly would you do to 'sort' them out?

Yeh, they are d1cks. There are other prick stuff they do/did as well, but we don't really care. All we care is we want to use our share of laundry facilities!!

I know some are saying to buy our machine or use laundromat, but the whole point of renting a full furnished place that explicitly says laundry is included, why would I want to go through the hassle of buying a machine of my own, then let it sit in the public area getting dusty. Then later have to rent a van to move the bloody machine later on? All our belongs are small and can be put into plastic containers for transporting. All the hassle just coz next door people are d1cks!

I suppose we are just tolerating it right now, since it would be difficult to look for a fully furnished place with a short lease and having to move things from here to there, and after our own place settle, we would have to move again.

I pray the next person who stay here will whinge the crap out of the landlord and they will be forced to intervene… but I will never know!

  • Since you're moving into your own place soon. Couldn't you just take it to your local coin laundry and wash it there at any time? Sure it's an inconvenienc but it's only for the short term.

  • +2

Well yes and no. I guess the point is, if laundry is included as part of the rent. Why would I have to drive out to do my laundry?

  • Maybe try and suggest to them somedays for you to wash your clothes and the other days for them.

We used to do it like this in the past and it worked very well.

    • Hahaha, I am not sure if these guys are civilised people. We have probably mentioned this whole laundry thing to them about 4 times within the past 2 months. They would say yeh ok, and still do what they normally do - hog the machine.

I mentioned in one of my replies before, there's once we asked them if they can take out their washing from the machine, coz we felt like its a polite thing to do. We got told, they are doing drying, and once they drying is done, they will take out their wet clothes for drying. For the time being, they are going to leave their wet clothes inside the machine. Dude, they couldn't even get a basket and take it out!

We had to knock on their door again and tell them we REALLY have to do our washing, please take it out!

Roster is a good idea, which should work for normal people, but these people, I am not sure if I tell them I've got a roster and they can only do their laundries every second day. They might get mad and say some bs and then just completely ignore it.

    • This is a fair way to do things. I guess it all depends on how selfish the other party is.

      • Yeh agreed. I haven't spoke to them about the roster just yet. Went knocking and no one is home. They got this really sassy guy in that unit… Worry he might crawl my face off when I tell them I have a surprise roster for them. Lol… sweats

  • +2

When you're ready to wash stop theirs remove it and put yours on no matter if theirs isn't finished or not.

That or bust the machine and no one washes then it's on the LL, by this time you should get your own cheap nasty job to tide you over.

    • Hahahaha. Hmm I'm not sure if its a good idea… Imagine grabbing someone's half done washing outta machine… Ewww, it probably would feel like grabbing out some sorta foetus… Probably not a good idea. Not sure if that machine allows people to take out washing half way… Last time I wanted to put in something extra half way through out the cycle… It wouldn't let me open the door… Even tho I pressed pause. Hmm. Plus I don't want them to come knocking on my door or punch my face for it.

      • should be able to open the door for safety reason.

        • Went and tested it yesterday! Think I have to wait for about 1min for it to open after pushing pause! :D

  • -1

The girl told me that her boyfriend's washing machine in his place broke, so she's also doing his washing as well.

Nah, girls these days are princesses.. She doesn't do her boyfriends laundry, it's the other way around. Most likely she is running a home laundromat business, maybe in conjunction with another implied home business. If I'm reading into this wrong, pls let me know the address - I'll send her a bunch of flowers and a basket of dirty laundry ;)

    • Hahaha, hey I am actually a girl and I do my partner's laundry all the time! LOL. I'll take the offer on those flowers, they can have your dirty laundries! :)

  • +1

maybe i'm an asshole… but (profanity) em. can you stop the load? i'd stop it, pull their shit, and sit there reading a mag until my shit was done.

    • Hahahaha, that's so gross… they might get mad and go out scratch my car or pop my tyre! >.<

  • Mate, you have no choice but to buy your own and set it up in your bedroom with some extension hoses. Run the cycle when you're not home or invest in some top quality ear muffs or even better, noise cancelling headphones. The machine could then double up as a handy romp platform as well… Once you're happy with the setup, cut the power cord on the shared machine (as close to the unit as possible so the scumbags can't rewire it) and then leave an anonimous letter to the scumbags saying you have cut it as close to the unit as possible so they can't rewire it. To spin them out further, act very surprised when you next see them and offer them your machine to use in the interim, and the cycle continues… (shameless pun disclaimer here)

    • +2

…or you could tell them that your bed-ridden aunt has an extreme case of scabies and you must wash her clothes asap or the shit will multiply and spread by air…

      • Hahahaha. Yeh sounded like a good idea!! I don't feel so sh1tty now. People here are great, coming up with so many great ideas!

  • +1

if they have another load of washing on top of the machine, i'll just remove it. First come first serve.

If the washing runs constantly when you are at home. I'll just unplug the cable while their load is running. Remove the load and do my washing.

that would force them to sit in front of the washing machine or they'll move to some other time, most likely during the day. Or put more washing into a load so they dont have to sit around.

hair or fabric dye works wonder too. Especially when it is poured into the load containing the uniform. Imagine not being able to come to work coz your uniform is &^&^&^*

when confronted, just blame the unicorn.

    • Yeh. Looks like just have to be rude back. Hahaha to unplug the thing take out their clothes and put mine in… That's a bit extreme. Worry they might come knocking and punch me in the face… D:

Offer to pay them to do your washing too :D

Hahahha I'll provide them laundry powder and fabric softener too.

You should see how fast they go through their softener and laundry powder. They go thru like two bottles of 1L softener every week. And two box of those 1kg laundry powder monthly. I know it coz they leave bottles/boxes of them on top of washer.

Just a question, OP, but how many units are in this block?

As you mentioned, there's a BC setup that covers the cost of the laundry. Once they start getting these outrageous water bills and want to pass the cost on to the owners, I'm sure the landlord will have something to answer for.

    • It's about 35 units in this block. Oh, would they really? I have no idea how BC here would be so nice and covers the bills in the public area. I hope they will. But yeh with so many units here and only one machine going off constantly I'm not sure if it will ever happen. :/

      • 35? That's interesting. Are the laundry facilities exclusive for your use (ie. A laundry on each landing)?

        • Hmm, everyone has their own machines in this block. It all got labels on them, labelling which machine belongs which unit. Some has locks on it as well. The washer/dryer that belong to our unit and the next door unit are owned by the same landlord. The landlord only provided one, I guess the landlord thought it would be shared properly.

        • @nightfever:

          Ah, I understand now.

Anyway, best of luck with this. It would be interesting to know if the selfish party eases off.

        • @tomsco:
          Thanks. :)

Really can't wait to move outta here when my place is done. I pray the next tenant will complain and whinge their hearts out.

These guys binge drinks every bloody night. Was gonna knock on their door last night about this roster stuff but I can hear the loud slurring speech and stuff. Decided not to. Lol.

    Oh my god

Is it worth to discuss in the forum?

You are going to move soon

Just get a solution from your end and then that is

Oh em gee back at you. If you don't like it and find it a waste of space in this forum then you don't have to comment on the thread. :) you know you could just hover you cursor over to the top right corner of your screen and click the 'X'. :)))

It's a lot less effort than typing some meaningless words here. Lol.

  • If you do not already own a washing machine, are you not going to have to purchase one when you move into your own place? Perhaps heed the landlord's advice and get your own.

You mentioned the place is off the plan. Floorplans must exist you can get measurements of the laundry off and if it settles shortly you may even be able to get access to do a measurement if you do not have a floorplan.

    • It's actually an weird off the plan property. We bought the ground floor, we were asking stuff like the fence measurement and how tall the ceiling is, they did not really come back with an definite answer. Even now it's so close to the settlement date they still cannot confirm when exactly we can inspect and settle. They said it will be before end the end of the year. They also aren't sure the stamp duty cost. Great isn't it. :/

I could buy a washing machine - yes but again, I was planning on buying everything in one go and have it shipped and set up in the new place in one go. I could get the price a lot lower if I was to buy all the white goods in one go. Plus our stuff here are pretty minimal. Everything can be put into plastic container and transport away in two separate trips. Why would I wanna go get a washer when I actually have to hire a van later on to transfer it?

I did consider it after the landlord mentioned buying a washer, what I was hoping is for them to remind the tenants that the machine is being shared. Buying a washer is a last resort I suppose. Thanks though.

  • For the sake of a few months, just go use a laundromat and spend your energy elsewhere.

    • The closet laundromat is 10km away… I don't drive, my partner does but he's not always home. I could walk… But I think that might take forever. :/

Being polite will not resolve this. They seem to abuse your niceness and keep at it. Instead be an abusive bastard and they will probably listen.

    • Yeh. Gonna be a rude bastard now. I often felt bad but people here helped me realised that sometimes you just have to take certain steps to get certain things done. Thanks! :)

  • Maybe your neighbour's are running an illegal laundromat business for their mates? I've seen tenants do this in properties where power and water is covered for some extra cash on the side. I've also seen properties where the tenants are drug users wash excessively in order to get the smell out of their clothes.

    • Dammit! I know these guys get intoxicated every night. Not sure if they are high on drugs or anything.

Where can I earn these extra cash, such dawgs, they should go buy their own machine.

I pray my property hurry up and settle so I can GTFO ASAP!

  • Go to a laundromat. I have a lot of clothes, can easily go two weeks with out washing them. One day I said fudge it and went to the laundromat, cost me $12 to use the 12kg front loader (my cloths barely touched the sides) and $8 spread over two big dryers, had 2 weeks off washing and my bedsheets done inside of 40 minutes. Would have taken me all day to do it at home. Best $20 ever.

    • Hahaha, we would not survive for two weeks without washing! We don't have much clothes in this place. Everything can be transported in plastic containers.

I also cannot imagine having to iron two weeks of my partner's business shirts as well as my clothes… but hey 2 weeks of drying done within 40mins in laundromat. That's impressive. It takes like 5 hours to dry the clothes in the small dryer here…

      • My clothes are mostly tshirts and shorts and jeans. My button up shirts are generally kinda casual but I found that if I fold them up or put them on a hanger straight out of the dryer, they are pretty ironed. Doubt that would fly for business shirts though.

        • Hahaha, probably not!! It would make them all super wrinkly. :D

You can buy a cheapo laundry basket for $3 from BigW or similar - eg. this one If you feel bad about putting their clean clothes on the ground, a cheap basket might make it look like a reasonable action not an aggressive gesture. To my mind, if they're putting piles of dirty clothes on top of the machine while it's in use, that looks a lot like them trying to monopolise the machine and not giving you a fair go. If you want to put the dirty clothes on the dusty ground, that sounds fair to me, but you could use another basket or even a plastic bag. Unlike the others above I would not advise pulling their stuff out mid-cycle, which sounds aggressive, messy and a hassle, but if the cycle has finished, have no compunction about jumping in!

    • Yeh, I guess it still means we have to watch the machine like a hawk.

I have no issues taking out their laundries or jumping the queues now. Since if they don't respect our rights, we don't have to be nice neither.

I wonder if I started to pulling out their laundries right after it's done and skipped the queue. Would they eventually set a timer to reminder themselves on their laundry. I hope not, that would mean we will forever be waiting… nooooooooo

But yeh, going grocery shopping at around 6-8pm weekday and weekend is quite a nightmare…
