Telstra $30 Pre-Paid SIM Starter Kit for Tablets for $15 @ Harvey Norman

140

This is my first post, I just wanted to post a deal that I've been looking out for. Not the cheapest, but easy to get, and you can purchase up to 5.

Advertised as a "Hot Deal" on Harvey Normal website. Available in-store only and unfortunately not all stores have them (you can check on the deal page).
But I was able to get JB Hifi to pricematch without issues. My starter kit expires in June 2017, so plenty of time to use it.

Best of luck

Bit Harsh, JV.. even by your standards.

      • Not by his standards. He's a neg magnet this guy.

Deals get negged for this type of stuff. (Not being cheapest)

  • Waiting for them to be $1 again

They are not the cheapest they have been, but they are the cheapest right now. If you need a sim in a hurry it's a pretty good deal, especially as there are no $1 around at the moment.

  • cam I convert this to a prepaid mobile sim?
stupid telstra cancelled my order with the 10bucks Cashback.

    • Yes, the sims are exactly the same, they package them differently as people feel more comfortable with this.

      • If you choose a broadband data plan, can you still use the $30 credit for Play store credit?

    • Someone from Telstra customer support told me that you couldn't a few months back. Not sure if true or not.

you may as well flip a coin. it is the same thing as asking telstra "support"

  • Does anyone know the expiry dates on these?

    • New packaging would suggest late 2016 or early 2017 at a guess.

  • Didn't realize Telstra prepaid is on 28 day cycles like Vodafone.

I'm trying to understand their plans without much success.

You get 4 plans to choose from to begin with. But only one plan includes call rates.

Prepaid Freedom gives you $250 value, with $30 Recharge and $220 Freedom Credit. They don't explain what is the difference between the two types of credits. Do they have different call rates, or different expiry dates? They don't even tell you how much you get charged per minute for a call, so I have no idea how much $250 is actually worth. Are they really giving me $250 worth of value and charging me only $30? Does that mean they lose $220 every time someone buys a $30 prepaid starter kit? Yeah right. Let me redeem my credit for cash please?

The only plan that tells you the rates is Simplicity. Every other plan just has meaningless numbers. They do provide international call rates, but not local, which is what most people use 99% of the time.

Then they have more undefined terms like Bonus Talk, and Bonus Telstra Talk. What's the difference between those two? Are these just bonus minutes you can use after your credit runs out? Is Telstra talk only between Telstra mobiles?

  • is anyone doing the $1 CreditMe2u transfer to a data sim still getting the 500mb at all? I just tried it doesn't seem to work anymore.

  • Couldn't get jb to price match these today. They said they needed approval from Telstra…
