What i've heard is the newer model is lighter, quieter and more efficient
it runs cooler yes, however fan goes to high speed quickly compared to the older model.

@bargin193232222: also a ton of old models are having issues with the capacitive eject button which doesn't occur on the new model since it uses physical buttons.

that i don't know, but my kids have been watching their dvd/blue-ray's on it, haven't tried usb stuff since i have plex and you can play movies on ps4 over the network as well.
In one of Sony's recent updates (maybe version 3.00 or something) they brought in a proper Media Player. It works perfectly for DLNA for me (I think it also works for USB drives with media too, though I don't do it that way)

Not more people "play", more people have brought! They are far too far behind. PS4 has already won this generation. Having such a small user base, it won't be long before developers start questioning if it's worth supporting the One. Especially considering the under-spec'd hardware.
I wouldn't exactly classify 13.9 million people as a small user base or the hardware as under spec'd considering the system is still very capable of handling all next-gen games. Then you factor in Sony's decision to make people pay for online, a service which was provided for free and was the standout point of the PS3 from the X360, and just to add at a higher price as well. Honestly I think you're just a little bit salty.
I just called Dicksmith online store and spoke to someone who said the tech specs for that catalogue number in their online store states this is the C-Chassis model.
As the eBay item shows the same catalogue model I'd be inclined to say the ebay item is the later model, I have confirmed with her that if this is not the case I will be returning it, even though she stated it is a no return policy. If the product that is delivered differs to what she told me I will be returning it.
I can see the photos in the eBay auction and the Dicksmith site show the shiny chassis which implies the older model so we will see.
Use your own judgement I am merely passing on information that has been provided to me.

I didn't think so at first but they quickly fill up after receiving heaps of free ps+ games every month. That and dlc, updates. But the newer model is awesome .i had the old model 500gb and now the new 500gb. I love the new one, just wish it was 1tb. But i may upgrade it myself if it bothers me in the future
yeah jsut been upgrading myself was cheaper, but not sure now with these deals, yeah its recommended to get a big hdd unless you dont mind deleting stuff often or if you swap games a lot. Cos each game needs to be installed
Just ordered one of these. Got a confirmation email from eBay and PayPal confirming the payment of $387.25 aud.
However when I check my actually PayPal statement, it shows a payment of $548.95. This consists of the 387.25 and something called international AG $161.70 aud.
Can someone explain what's up? Shouldn't it just be 387.25?

eBay has covered the difference, you pay 387.25, they pay 161.70. That's how the ebay coupons work.
Yeah, I remember this sort of thing when eBay had a similar promo (Sunday one I think) with The Good Guys. I don't think the mechanics of the deal were made all that clear, but Verapa stated it well below The vendor still gets full retail, eBay covers the difference. Can't see how this makes sense for eBay, but then again, who am I to argue?
