Tell Me What Internet I Should Get, Live Your Bargain Dreams Vicariously

I am one person recently living alone.

I have much like for internet, I often Netflix (errday), occasionally play an online game.

Would prefer no contract - unsure of living in same place in 5 months.

My place has a phone hole - which may or may not work (how does one tell?)

So we'll imagine 2 possibilities:

a) Phone hole works! What should I get?

b) Phone hole doesn't work! What should I get/do?

Thank ye all for your recommendations!

Is it an NBN phone hole?

    • I believe it's the Phone Hole Original.

I've just signed up with AusBBS for our new place. They've been great so far in getting things sorted and getting around the weird problems with my building that the other ISP's deemed to hard to bother with.

Hi, Check out http://newsprout.com.au/newsprout-adsl-broadband-plans ADSL2+ offering 20GB, 250GB, or 500GB on a per month basis.

  • Optus Cable internet i think i pay around $90 a month for unlimited downloads, speed pack and free local and international calls to selected countries. Been with them for over 15 years now and overall very happy with the service. Modem usually self destructs every few years and they usually replace it free of charge. Will stick with them till NBN finally becomes available in my area.

  • Optus has some good deal at the moment. Check their website

Borrow a corded phone, plug into original phone hole. Listen for dial tone. It's unlikely you'll hear one, but wth.

If silence or cbf, stay on lookout for a 3G/4G pre-paid modem. That's what I'm doing now, in muted anti-NBN protest.

Cheers - I had a couple months wait for a port to open up, but ended up successfully connecting with TPG in January - (ADSL 2+). Good luck with the protest! Haha. I think NBN is a long way off for me :(
