eGlobal Digital Cameras- Have I Been Scammed?

Hi guys, has anyone else had the misfortune of dealing with eGlobal?

I purchase a camera, body and lens on September 26th, when they had their PayPal free shipping deal. The package came relativly quickly, however it was only the camera body, no lens. I contacted eGlobal, asking for the lens, as I needed it relativly quickly, within the next two weeks. This lead to the eGlobal blaming DHL for over a month, claiming the lens was shipped with the camera, even though the package was perfect with no rips, and the lens wouldn't have even fit into the bubble wrap packaging. Apparantly that's not enough. I've asked for a refund of just the lens, so I could pick one up locally and use the damn thing. But apparently, thats not reasonable enough. Is it worth going to Trust Pilot or Product Reviews? eGlobal seems like the site that exchanges coupons or discounts for good reviews.

Thanks guys

  • Was the lens bundled with the camera or were both individual items?

What resolution did they offer you?

    • It was a bundle deal, but the items come boxed seperately. And they didn't offer one, they just knock back everything and tell me they are going after DHL.

  • Were they priced separately? If so, just put in a Paypal claim. They will just string you along with promised that never materialise. When I eventually had to escalate a paypal claim against them (after they'd intentionally sent me and others the wrong item) they even had the hide to Paypal about having received it back from me. Fortunately I had an email from them to the contrary.

    • Bundle deal, I have, just nothings happened yet. Normally PayPal claims for me have been rather quick.

PayPal claim. And don't close it until everything has been fixed up. Especially don't close it on a promise they will do something (eg. "We will send the lens/refund your money when you close the PayPal claim") - once you close the claim they have no incentive to follow through.

…and PayPal claims cannot be re-opened or re-claimed.

    • Yeah, I've started a claim, but I'm hoping I don't get a full refund and have to send the camera body back. I've had to go out and buy a lens locally just so I could use it.

      • Can you please keep us updated with how this goes?

      • I'm hoping I don't get a full refund and have to send the camera body back

Did they have a separate value of each listed? They may try and screw you over on the value of the lens compared with the camera otherwise, but I hope it all works out for you.

If they do decide on the full refund, they will probably try and make you return at your own cost (which will be prior to any refund being given) so you'll at least have a chance to argue your case.

        • I can't remember if the camera was sold separately, but the lens definitely was. That's where I got my amount I asked for a refund.

This is the same retailer that had a Kindle deal that they did not honour because they decided they did not want to send a cheap case…

  • I have honestly had good experiences buying from eGlobal Digital Cameras, both from their site and from eBay.

I purchased a polaroid camera, a printer, a new body for my DSLR kit and a few lenses from them.

All grey imports, but no problems.

    • I must have just been unlucky.

  • PayPal want me to send the Camera back 2 weeks before I leave. It's looking like I lose this.
