Yeah there might be a few, but how many cases are there against Taxi drivers… heaps!

May I remind you that in Australia, taxi vehicles are required by law to have security camera's installed. Uber vehicles do not have this. Security is second to the company. Look at them when they started - they didn't even check the criminal history of their drivers! Took a couple rape cases for them to implement protocols they should have had in the first place. Uber is a poorly regulated joke.

LOL yeah, because you never heard stories about taxi drivers raping young women or anything at all. The amount of times I've jumped in a taxi and the licence displayed sure as hell isn't the guy driving the taxi.

        • Maybe you should read this

          found the taxi driver

        • @hetzjagd:

Actually, I'm not a taxi driver :) (Probably hard for you to believe).

I tried to use uberX(uber black) the other day when I was in Sydney but the price I was quoted by the app was way more than the ride in cost via taxi($29).

Uber X and Uber Black are two different things. Uber X is comparable to a taxi, Uber Black is the charter vehicle (the Holden Statesmen, Mercedes etc).

you dont get an option from sydney airport, its the only real time I ever use taxi.

        • Then you should have mentioned that maybe? Next time you try and compare, compare Uber Black to a charter vehicle. You'll see that they're cheap in comparison.

Also, there's a simple way around getting an Uber X to pick you up from the airport.

        • +1

@Porthos: next time I will just cross the road and pickup there, I was more disappointed about not being able to try it. I want to give a test drive before my big trip to the USA next year where it is a big part of our getting around in the bigger cities.

@Porthos: keen to know how if u dont mind sharing?
How to get uberx from the airport

          @Blugok:

There's plenty of times it has been said on here, just do a quick google. You'll find it simply enough :)

        • ubertaxi?

Cant use UberX from airports anyway so your comparison is invalid

  • is the free ride in Canberra or can you use it anywhere ?

    • Great, they get fireworks, weed & pornography and now free rides

      • +1

fireworks and weed is NOT legal.

    New users only :(

  • +3

Thank goodness Canberra now has Uber. It's one of the worst places to try and get a taxi.

  • +4

Is $20 enough to get out of Canberra?

    • +8

Depends if your Bronwyn Bishop or not…..

  • New users only? Really?…

    • -1

The original post doesn't say that. Does it need to be corrected? You could dispute this with Uber as the rep hasn't stated either way?

  • HEADS UP - YOU CAN POSSIBLY GET $40 OFF IF YOU USE THIS DEAL INSTEAD https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/217451#comment-3158670

You cannot claim the $40 off if you have already claimed this $20 deal like I did. If you haven't applied the $20 deal then it's not too late for you. Don't make the same mistake I did, you still have your youth
