Need Info on DVDs for The Mentalist Season 7 and Shark Season 2 Plus Tips on Amazon

  I've had trouble finding information on these DVDs in Australia

  Just did a quick search and it appears it's still on the way (Mentalist S7). Hence why it's not at JBs or anything.

  Do you need it urgently? For Xmas or something?

  If buying from the US you'll need to make sure you have a region free dvd player, otherwise it's going to be a PITA

    I would like to get it as a Christmas present for a friend who doesn't use the internet for shopping. She has an unlocked DVD player and believes she will be able to play DVDs from the USA. My friend also understands that it might not be practical to get hold of the DVDs before Christmas so I don't want to rush into anything.

    There appears to be a release issue based on which episodes of these shows have already been shown on free to air TV and which episodes haven't appeared yet.

        Looking at $30-$35 delivered.

        But JB Hifi sells all the other seasons for $24.98:

        So it's costing you more to get the version from overseas, and the headaches of dealing with unlocked dvd players as long as you own that dvd :/

        Maybe best to just wait? Or buy her a JB Hifi gift card to cover when it does come in stock?

        Thanks. We'll look into it. Fishpond might be good as I won't have to do currency conversions, although last time I tried to order something from them, the product didn't match their description. We might buy or we might wait.

        $35 is still within the Christmas budget and not unreasonable for one season of a TV show. I know there are better deals out there for some shows but there are also TV shows selling for more.

        Thanks for your advice. I usually buy DVDs in store. I've used JB HI FI online once but I'm still learning to navigate the overseas TV/DVD online stores.

  I ended up buying via amazon uk for around $31 after delivery costs. I was able to purchase in Australian dollars using one of the features of the Shopping Cart even though the initial screens only showed British pounds. According to the delivery predictions I should get the goods before Christmas.

  I almost went with Fishpond but was annoyed when they put the price up to almost $50. I'd also read some bad reviews on Fishpond and decided not to take the risk with them.

  The DVD arrived on Friday 4 December a couple of days before Channel 9 started showing the remaining Season 7 episodes of The Mentalist.

  My friend always buys the DVDs when they come out, mostly for the extras, so this still works out as a good Christmas present.
