What would be the best laptop (new condition) I could get at around the $400 mark, 15 inch screen at least, not interested in gaming. Require for work and net browsing. Best deal I can find is the Lenovo think pad b5030, n2840 processor, 8gb, 500 gb hard drive for $380 eBay. I know it's not the latest i3 + processor but should be ok for those tasks? Thoughts?

Hi scrimshaw, are lower end lenovo laptops any good? Like <$400 I had terrible luck with acer and hp, so want to try a different brand. I just it for online surfing and streaming.

Another vote for the HP250, on which I am typing this.
I use it for the MS Office suite, Web browsing and programming some electronics gear.
I also use the Design Spark Mechanical 3D modelling program, and it's adequate for that - much to my surprise.
I found it via OzBargain two years ago, and I use it for around 60 hours a week, and it's not skipped a beat.
The same model you listed is currently on special at Online Computer (Haymarket Sydney) for $336.

You won't be needing the 8GB of RAM, makes zilch difference anyway since the CPU and 5200RPM drive is the biggest bottleneck.
If you can spend a hundred bux more you can get a Core i3 Lenovo.
