2730
SWITCH

MOD: This has been received from Amaysim (2 Dec 2015):

amaysim updated the redemption details of this offer last week so that once a user puts this code into the funnel, the success message clearly states that this offer is only valid if redeemed by someone bringing a TPG number to amaysim… If new customers bring a non TPG number to amaysim and claim this SWITCH offer they do risk the promo not being honoured, as the user will have breached the terms and conditions of the offer.

Therefore it is a targeted offer for customers of TPG mobile. There is no guarantee that promotion will be honoured.

How so. You pay $30 for 6 months.

Probably better than paying $30 for a 1 year long expiry sim.

        • -1

          hehe

      • What do you want me to do with all the Telstra starter $30 starter kits ;)?

        • Omg same… i bought so many telstra voda and amaysim sims

      • +1

Is the data per KB billing?

  • +1

    Good job EC.

    • But didn't vote.

      • +1

Omg, he did what you said, how you do that?

  • Is expiry correct? Looks like a go-er.

  • -1

Comparing to other Amaysim deals, this sounds like TPG are making quite a few bucks. It is still an okay deal though.

  • Mmm longer term I think it would still cost me more. Great deal though.

    • +1

Just switch back to your cheaper choice in 6 months as this doesn't lock you into any contract?

      • Yeah but Penny Sim doesn't take new customers.

        • +3

What sort of business plan is that?

        • +4

@spillmill: One where I can take advantage of their pricing error.

        • @inherentchoice:

Ah, so a specific plan or offer that's now expired. I see…

        • @inherentchoice: What is this pricing error that occurred do you speak of?

        • +1

Watch out pennysim will slug you $20 to port away.

  • +2

Nice deal EC. Passed this on to a friend :)

  • +2

Excellent just joined up. Code works, everything confirmed.

    • +1

does it work with the higher plans i.e. 5 gb plan.

      • +2

Tried with the 8gb and no. So unlikely the 5gb but didn't try.

        • +1

Can confirm it doesn't work with the 5GB

  • +7

So I can port out and then in again to receive this deal? (current Amaysim customer)

    • +2

      interested to know this aswell.

      • +2

        Interested too..

        • +1

          same interest here

        • +1

          Interested to know as well.

        • +4

          @AussieDaddy: I'm not interested…

    • i wonder if you can buy it today (as a current amaysim customer), port out tomorrow to say vodafone and then port back when the sim card arrives?

i remember from the CS chat, once you buy the sim, it won't expire. so wonder if when you go through the check out if any validation is performed or when you go to activate the port.

    • +11

I was on Amaysim 5GB+ unlimited $10 for first month then there came the 3months of 5GB unlimited (non plus) for $10 and heres how I got that

Ordered Vodafone $1 sim (free next day postage) Thursday & delivered Friday (last week)
      Monday Ported Amaysim -> Vodafone
      Tuesday Ported Vodafone -> Amaysim

Used same email & visa card

      • Thanks for this info. Didn't realise it was this easy to port out and back!

        • just ordered a Vodafone $1 sim, I plan to activate it then order the amaysim sim so i have this offer parked

      • @nikon:

When you ordered the amaysim new sim card (presumably Monday after the porting to Vodafone), did you select next day delivery or 2-5 days delivery? Because I've never had my amaysim card arrive the following day and I always select next day delivery.

        • Selected next day and the first time they sent came next day and this deal also came next day for free postage. Im in the metro sydney region.

        • @nikon: Thanks for letting me know.

        • @PBG: Not a problem mate

      • i know they are on the same network but does it matter that its Vodafone and not TPG?

        • If you read my number porting process above its in regards to being a current Amaysim customer wanting to get the new customer deal with Amaysim.

I didn't see the new Edits of the deal until just now that its only for current TPG mobile customers so you would have to port to TPG on their currently cheapest $19.99 plan + sim delivery (first month minimum $29.99), port out costs of $11 and $29.90 with this Amaysim.

Theres always the 3months deal of 5GB Unlimited with new Amaysim customers for only $10 over 3 month

  • Hi EC,I m new to amaysim and ozb, can u explain how to get this offer.I will have to order it too. Thx

    • +2

OzBargain website search is your friend. It's at the top.

      Edit: p.s. Welcome!

  • Thanks! Gonna give this a go.

  • Meh, I wish 2GB was enough, but nowadays I need at least 3GB. I guess 3GB for $15 every month for 6 months is pretty good.

    • p0n on the go? :)

      • +1

Nah Tinder and other apps on the go. P0n's so outdated.

  • is it purely a data plan? Or are there calls/sms?

    • Unlimited calls and text

Free international text to 32 countries

      • +1

I assume no international calls included ?

    • this includes unlimited calls/sms

  • +1

Will they be advertising this anywhere outside OzBargain?

  • +1

If you want to leave after 6 months is there a penalty?

    • Also keen to find out!

      • Its prepaid so there should not be any penalty.

        • on the plan details page it says
          "You pay: $29.90 auto-renews every 30 days"

Sounds like they want your credit card details and you will need to opt out when you're done. Hope fully they are going to play this smart and earn customer loyalty by emailing and sms'ing you reminders that the renewal charge is coming.

        • +6

@hetzjagd: You can change from cc to bpay or vouchers once you sign up

        • @Regie69:

          Good info, cheers :)

        • +2

          @hetzjagd: Turn off auto renew.

  • To port your number, do you normally have to inform your current provider first that you're leaving, or just let the new provider sort it all out?

    • New provider sort it out.

      • +6

Unless you are with vaya, they will probably just keep charging.

        • +4

I agree. Vaya has charged me for one month extra, did not refund security deposit. When I joined, I was promised "last month" free. I did not get that credit as well. Totally unreliable billing practices and will never go back to them.

        • As posted above… with amaysim you can select NO auto renew…

  • +1

I got tracking receipt of $35.00 from cash rewards so I think this deal is valid for Cashback.

    • +1

How seeing its only $29.95 deal?

      • I paid $33.67 for unlimited 5gb plus. Got tracking receipt for $35. You get Cashback upto $45. I don't know how they calculate.

    • Tracking doesn't mean you'll get paid. Last time I signed up for the free amaysim month deal. It also tracked on cashrewards then after about a few weeks it just disappeared from the tracking page.

      • doesnt bother me. good deal nevertheless.

  • +7

They really should do something to keep the current Amaysim customers.

    • ^ This! These Telcos are obsessed with "new customers" and forcing people to go through hell (porting numbers back and forth) to access their deals rather than giving their current customers better deals.

      • Well it's really because they expect most new customers to not bother, and the new customers are already "locked in".
It's just that this sort of thing does not go down well with the crowd here, but I think a normal person just wouldn't bother.

        • That makes sense, though it's annoying for an ozbargaining tightarse.

        • +1

@AussieDaddy: I agree, but I get it from a business point of view (as it seems you do lol). Us Ozbargainers really don't tend to help businesses make that much money just because of how we are.

Typo in my message btw. I meant "expect most existing customers to not bother (with the process fo porting out, porting back in to qualify for such a promo), and these same customers are already locked in so not as much of an incentive to give them a promotional offer".

    • +1

can you port your existing Amaysim plan/number across to this plan?

  • +1

gees why did i use that TPG vodaphone SIM.

    • +2

      two months free! :)

  • I cant see where it say $30 for 6 month
It say $5 for first month

    • +3

pay 1st month at $29.90 and get 5 months free.

      • Can I pay the $29.90 and then immediately cancel the recurring payments?

        • +2

What recurring payments? If you cancel after the first month then you're losing. You have to pay the 30 bucks in advance to get the remaining 5 months for free. If you cancel after you pay the $29.90 then that's what it is gonna cost you for one month and you miss out 5 free months.

        • -7

@AussieDaddy: I don't mean cancel the amaysim account, never mind I can't describe exactly what I mean.

flap off with your childish negs

        • +4

          @chipstss:
You don't cancel you change payment from cc to bpay/voucher

        • -2

@chipstss: Says the person who negged me for trying to help them with their confusion. Why dish out negs if they bother you that much, mate?

        • +2

          @Regie69: Thanks

  • +3

Is it just me or are their specials getting crazier and crazier?

As in longer special period/better value.

At this rate they'll be offering 24 months of UNLIMITED 2GB at $5/month by Xmas!

  • +2

    I cant see where

  • +1

Maybe I'm out of touch on mobile phone plan naming conventions but I just want to voice my opinion that calling one "unlimited 2gb" is (profanity) dumb. What is their other plan called, "limited ∞gb"? …that's meant to be an infinity symbol but it turned out really small

    • +5

I think it's short for unlimited calls and texts with 2gb data.

      • +3

yeah I get that but it's just a frustrating mess of words. It reads like an oxymoron

I realize I am sounding pretty pedantic and petty right about now so just to try turn it around I have to admit that I may well sign up for this plan. I've NEVER had a phone contract, only bought minimum amount prepaid credit on deals that last at least a year. I'm more interested in data than free calls and text and this 2GB for $5 a month seems like a good way to test the waters of a mobile phone lifestyle

    • +1

Usually when they say 'unlimited' they're referring to the calls and texts. The data (on mobile phones) is almost always limited (unless there are plans where you have to pay unheard of $$ for a month, dunno).

    • +1

Unlimited refers to the calls and text not the gb

  • It doesn't work for me

    • +3

you are going to need to elaborate as to what doesn't work where if you want any chance of having someone help you out

      • +3

        Let him be.

    • +2

WOW! There are some angry folks around here.

jag007, see if this comment can help you out:

You need to enter the coupon code near the end of the signup process. This is after putting in your personal information and payment details. After validating it, a message popped up specifically mentioning the 5 months free.

And this one is also similar:

It's at the end of the signing up process, where you apply the promo code then the plan will change. You can give it a test after putting in your details but you don't have to submit if you don't want too, if you just purely want to see the final deal.

  • +2

Just signed up, looks like it worked for me.

I'm currently with Telechoice, but it wasn't an option that I could see on the from list, so I just picked Other. I signed up for a prepaid service.

  • The code doesn't work mate I tried to apply it
