Masters Not Honouring Their Best Price Guarantee

WARNING ON MASTER'S PRICE MATCH GUARANTEE!!!

I bought this exact fridge from Masters for $1599 delivered a week ago and now I see it on sale on The Good Guys eBay for $1409.43 delivered after 20% off. So I gave them a call to apply their Best Price Guarantee. Surprisingly they say it is not applicable as the price I quoted is not The Good Guys' advertised price due to the fact that I have to enter in a discount code.

None of this was explicitly written in their terms & condition. It all hinges off the statement:

only to see it advertised at a lower price somewhere else

hmm. It is not cool (pun intended) when this happens but I think Masters might be right?

The discount isn't given by their competitor i.e: The good guys. The discount is footed by eBay. As far as Masters is concerned, the Good guys is advertising/selling the same unit for $100 more.

You wouldn't be able to get that price matched today, let alone use their guarantee for it. Ebay discount is different to GGs discount

Price promise applies to online purchases from Australian-based competitor websites on an identical stocked item and on a delivery fee inclusive basis.

It's not on GGs website, it's on Ebay, different site…

I see your point, but from a Customer's perspective, the "spirit" of the guarantee is so you don't feel like you missed out on a deal. Right now that's exactly how I'm feeling so I would say the intention of the guarantee has back-fired.

EBay's sale though. As I said, you'd have no chance if you walked in store today and tried to price match the ebay price.

Ebay is taking the hit on this so items can be sold at a possible loss by the retailers. As such they're always exempt from price matching.

Just buyers remorse and it sucks but it is how it is

Yeah, I hear you. Would have been good if they had specified it in the fine prints though.

Their fine print explicitly excludes what you're asking for (precisely because eBay is wearing the 20% on this sale, not GG)… You're asking for them to ignore the fine print you're demanding and go with the "spirit" of the thing (it's the vibe of it!)

It sucks that this happens, but these eBay sales are never going to be matched in store.

        • @pais: Where in their fine print did they explicitly exclude what I'm asking for? Serious question, as I can't see it anywhere.
