Have been a customer of Home Make It for a few years making home made wine. I am starting my new Beer Brewing hobby and came across a 20% discount for for all home making equipment. Today I purchased an Italian spiral burner with adjustible regulator for $81.56, a $20.39 saving. Will go back to get fully kitted up when I learn more about what I need.

Sale is for Xmas available till 18th December. A few exlusion like gift cards and tins of beer. I live nearby so went in store in Clayton. There is a code for online purchases.

AHB has been my main researching site. I have my 50l SS kettle ($119), and now my burner. Looking at doing BIAB. Wort chiller and fermenter is next on the list.

Go No Chill cube and then you don't need to worry about a wort chiller (for most brews NC is fine).

        • No chill is a great way to start out (and even continue if it suits you)
I use it for some of mine, but recently got a chiller for some brews where I either want it all done in a day or want to be able to replicate those recipes with late hop additions (but even then, I no chilled a Rye IPA last week and just boiled up a small sample the following day for the aroma additions)

      • fermenter is next on the lis

Stainless steel olive oil drum is a great option, and Homemakeit so 20% off also ;)

        • For ease of cleaning??? Expensive option but if you have the cash to splash then why not.

        • @jollster101:

Yeah I did home brewing years ago and was thinking about getting back to it. Main reason I stopped was the old plastic fermenters. I really don't think you can ever properly clean something 100 that has a coarse surface like they do. Like would you drink out of a reusable plastic cup? I wouldn't. Anyhow, my beer started off good, but then seemed to get worse each time, like a bit off. So if was going to do it, I'd get a stainless fermenter.

        • @jollster101:

ease of cleaning, no residual smell, no residual colour, shiny stainless is pretty (and so on)

A bunnings water cube is a cheap option, and I used one for a while, but a stainless fermenter just seems like an easy upgrade

  • I remember I subscribed to this thread ages ago, though there wasn't much discussion in the end :( but mskeggs gave some tips about making ciders if you're thinking of making that too :)
