Ultradeck Stuff on Outdoor Setting

I purchased a setting from bbq galore on sale it says once made to give it an some furniture oil.
I could have got the stuff from them but thought masters or bunning have more options and better stuff guy took me to stuff i needed then asked where the outdoor setting would be undercovee,i said under a sail so would be exposed to some sun and rain so he took me to this other stuff called intergram ultradeck said his folks used it on a outdide gazebo thing and 2 yrs later still great.
Said it will be better as protects it better,he said oil dont last etc.
I said its not stain this table is new so im hoping it does not affect it?
It does say on tin for all outdoor furniture but wanted your thoughts on this stuff on a setting,he sure sounded he knew what he was taking about but wanted as others

  • Looking at the website: http://www.intergrain.com.au/consumer/products/exterior/prod…
It says it is a water based oil (huh?).
It will be fine for furniture, and is likely to last longer than standard tung oil or similar.
If you use normal oil you will need to reapply regularly (every year or two). This probably needs that too.
"I said its not stain this table is new so im hoping it does not affect it?" The oil will soak into the wood and give it a different colour to the bare timber. It is designed to stop the wood going that grey colour you see in an old fence.

    • If its anything like intergrain ultrafloor it will be great. Used it on my timber kitchen benchtops and its great, very water resistant. Have to confirm if its good for outdoor use though. I would think ultradeck is the outdoor version.

  • So all good then?as the setting is new did not want to mess it up with wrong stuff and not always bunning staff clued up,when you say it changes colour of funiture hopefully not too much lol.i purchased a pack of cheap brushes just wanna coat it all same day i think its 2 coats?
Do the brushes turn hard if left?

    • More coats the better. Yea if you leave the brush it will harden. Re-coat every 2 hours. I did six coats on kitchen top as I wanted it super water proof.

  • This is the stuff i have:

I read it quickly but is this not for bare timber?
As this is a new purchased setting would not say its bare has been stained has some colour to it or am i reading this wrong lol.

  • Ultradeck comes in different timber colours so if you know what type of timber the setting is made from (ie.merbau, jarrah, pine etc.) match the colour on the tin otherwise just choose "natural finish"…wrap your brushes in gladwrap between coats to stop your brushes from going hard then wash out in soapy water at the end of the day.

  • It was natural i got as in tin as for wood its hardwood? Its the 7pc princeton setting from bbq galore

    • Natural will be fine …most likely merbau Reddy/ Brown colour nice grain.

  • Sorry back on this subject again was going to put a few coats on our outdoor setting the princeton 7pc setting from bbq galore.
Im taking i just give the table and chairs a quick wipe free of dirt and good to go with this ultradeck by intergram which is natural i have but reading back of tin goes on about bare timber etc i would not say its bare as its got colour some sort of dark stain to it then it says all other new bare timber about letting it weather for 4 to 6 weeks until leaching of tannins?? And oils have ceased or to coat new bare timber right away treat with intergram power prep which brings out oils quicker etc then goes on about intergram reviva after powerprep previously painted or varnished timber.
Honestly im a little confused i was recommended the ultradeck at bunnings over oil as last longer and as it be more exposed will be better for table etc.is it as simple as give the table a wipe and apply this stuff or is this stuff more suited to tables with nothing on it when it says bare is this without oils or no stain or nothing on table.
Just a bit confused as to what i have is ok to use which was said above is as was going to get oil to start with.
This tin was pretty expensive and if its asking me to buy other products no way anyone give me feedback on this?
